In an idyllic village nestled in the English countryside, photographer Georgia Brooks is desperate to begin a new chapter in her life. Bramble Cottage was supposed to give her space to heal and hope again after suffering betrayal and rejection by the only man she ever loved. This was Georgia’s chance to rekindle her faith and reconnect with her sisters in a place that held sweet childhood memories—not expose herself to the ugly underbelly of the art world and put her family in danger.
Local pediatric surgeon, Doctor William Hughes, is captivated by the Canadian beauty with a camera over one shoulder and the weight of the world on the other. After suffering his own tragic loss and balancing a demanding career with raising a toddler, he recognizes the heaviness of grief . . . and the burden of guilt.
When Georgia discovers she could be in possession of incriminating evidence to frame a criminal ring, she needs to trust someone. She chooses Will. Postcards, photographs, paintings—something about Bramble Cottage is worth killing for. Can Georgia uncover the truth in time?

This is a new to me author and I was provided a free ebook to read before its release in August.
I loved it! This is a Christian romantic suspense that DOESN’T follow law enforcement which was so refreshing.
Additionally, it is set in England, but the lead character is from Canada! It was so fun to know the city she is from (Vancouver).
The romance was so great in this one. It wasn’t cheesy even though you could call it insta love. I’ll say instant attraction. The love interest is a single dad doctor 😍 He was so swoony. I loved their dynamic!
The faith content!! So good. The characters weren’t perfect but they prayed all throughout and were shown going to church. Another thing I loved about this book!
Highly recommend! Just enough heart pumping moments balanced with romantic tension that I ate it up! Looking forward to more from this author.
Disclosure: I received this book free from the publisher/author. The opinions I have expressed are my own, and I was not required to write a positive review. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.
A good start to a new series!
Georgia and Will were the two main characters. Georgia's photography skills played a big role in the story. Poor lady went through a lot. In the beginning, Will seemed a little one-dimensional, but he became a deeper character over the course of the story. I wasn't the biggest fan of the developing romance between Will and Georgia at first because both of them had really been through the wringer in the relationship department and it seemed like they both needed more time to heal, Georiga especially. But I was more okay with their relationship by the end.
Plenty of high stakes, dramatic moments, a developing romance, and suspenseful scenes moved this novel right along. I appreciated that Laura Thomas kept both the romance and the language clean, and I liked her writing style.
Overall, Captured in Frame was an entertaining read that I'd recommend to those who enjoy Christian fiction and romantic suspense.
Captured in Frame by Laura Thomas beautifully blends the charm of the English countryside with the thrill of a suspenseful mystery, seen through the lens of Georgia Brooks, a photographer seeking a fresh start. Bramble Cottage, with its quaint allure, serves as the perfect setting for Georgia’s journey from heartache to hope as she stumbles upon dangerous secrets hidden in her peaceful surroundings.
What immediately struck me about this novel is the way each character is painted with such depth and authenticity. Georgia's vulnerability and resilience are perfectly balanced, making her a heroine that feels both relatable and admirable. Her interactions with Doctor William Hughes, a local pediatric surgeon grappling with his own grief, are filled with genuine emotion and moments of sweet connection. Will’s unwavering faith in God’s sovereignty is a steady beacon throughout the narrative, offering hope and strength.
The plot is intricately woven with elements of suspense that keep the reader guessing. The mystery surrounding Bramble Cottage and the incriminating evidence Georgia stumbles upon adds a layer of tension that is expertly sustained. As Georgia and Will delve deeper into secrets, the stakes rise, and the danger becomes ever more palpable.
One of the highlights of Captured in Frame is the perfect integration of faith into the story. The spiritual journey of the characters is tender and enduring, adding a rich, reflective dimension to the narrative. Quotes like, "Was God still able to shine His glorious Light through the fragments of her brokenness?" and "When we come to the end of ourselves and remember He’s sovereign. He sees all and knows all. It’s the only way I’ve been able to get through the storms in my life," beautifully encapsulate the theme of finding strength and redemption through faith.
The picturesque Bramble Cottage, with its sweet childhood memories and hidden dangers, serves as the ideal backdrop. The contrast between the serene village and the peril lurking beneath its surface adds an engaging complexity to the story.
Captured in Frame combines romance, suspense, and faith into a cohesive and compelling tale. The heartfelt prayers and references to God throughout the book are presented with a sense of reverence and sincerity, making the spiritual aspect of the story both powerful and uplifting.
Captured in Frame snaps a picture-perfect story filled with rich emotions, gripping suspense, and real, authentic faith. Laura Thomas has created a story that is gripping and inspiring. Whether you are a fan of romantic suspense or looking for a novel that speaks to the heart of Christian faith, this book captures moments and emotions you’ll want to revisit.
I received a digital ARC of Capture in Frame from the author and JustRead Publicity Tours LLC. I am not required to write a positive review in any way or for any reason. My honest and unbiased opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on the writing style, the pacing, and the story’s content, ensuring transparency and reliability.
If you love romantic suspense with enough twists (and a total Wuthering Heights moment) to keep you guessing, you won't want to miss Laura Thomas' Captured in Frame. Endearing characters, bad guys you want to shoot or slap or both (come armed!), and enough creepy moments to edge some scenes closer to a thriller, Thomas will keep you on your toes for a wild ride. Beware the silver sports car behind you, though.
Vivid details made me feel as though I were back in merry old England--but whoa... not so merry. Add to that solid faith-filled moments that inspire and a swoony guy for our heroine, and Captured in Frame is sure to capture and hold your attention captive right up to the last page. Then the finger drumming for book two commences.
I love the bucolic setting and even more charming characters in this book set in the English countryside. With Georgia looking for a fresh start after experiencing horrific trials and tragedies, it's lovely that she gets to be near her siblings again, whom I enjoyed meeting in the book. Coupled with meeting Will, a kind doctor who exudes care and genuine friendship, it seems like the perfect arrangement for a new life; however, this plan doesn't last long. Riddled with shocking discoveries and suspense, this book had me interested in what would happen next.
Though Georgia’s stubborn independence repeatedly puts herself and others in harm’s way, I appreciate that she turns to God on countless occasions. The fact that Will also stops to pray continually throughout the book definitely enhances the story, allowing a glimpse into the hearts of those who have suffered loss and grief. The content is fairly heavy, yet the book still conveys a sense of hope. Readers who are interested in the story of a photographer finding love in England amidst danger and suspense will enjoy the journey that this book takes them on as murders are solved and mysteries are untangled.
Captured in Frame is a romantic suspense novel set in the picturesque English countryside. Think Midsomer Murders but with a romance storyline.
The heroine, Georgia, is fresh off the plane from Canada when she learns all is not as idyllic as it seems. Someone knows about her past, and they’re using it to scare her. But who? And why? As the story progresses, Georgia meets local surgeon, Will, our hero, who has a past of his own. They don’t get off to a very good start, but circumstances push them together, and they soon form a reluctant bond.
There’s lots to enjoy in Captured in Frame, from the old school film photography, to the sweeping scenery, and the small village community. Georgia’s well-meaning but interfering family, and Will’s adorable toddler son (who takes an instant shine to Georgia) complete the cast of "good guys". I won't give any spoilers as to the "bad guys", except to say, the author kept me guessing to the last minute!
The suspense and romance in this book are well balanced, and the pacing is just right. The mystery continues for the whole story, along with the romance, both of which come to a satisfying conclusion. I’m looking forward to the next book, where Georgia’s sister, Sophie, will feature as the heroine.

Another great work of Romantic Suspense from this extremely talented author. Anyone who has read any other of Laura's books knows that she is an absolute master of character development. This, coupled with a brilliantly developed storyline, equals a book you can't put down. Five stars from me!
Captured in Frame was such an exciting book! I read it in 2 days. Laura Thomas is a new author to me. This story was so exciting, and the setting for it, a village in England, was a big plus, too. Georgia and Will meet up after Georgia is awakened by smoke. There's a history there. After finding out someone is targeting her. Will then decides to help figure out what's going on. Add in Georgia's sisters trying to help, and this book takes you on an exciting ride. And the ending was a total surprise!!
Wow! Why have I not been reading Laura Thomas’ books before now?? I devoured Captured in Frame in one sitting, each new layer pulling me further into the story and keeping me on the edge of my seat.
Georgia is a very likable – and very relatable – protagonist, whether or not you have any experiences or traits in common. I loved that she is from Vancouver (yay for something different!) and a photographer, and I adored the charming thatched college she inherited from her grandparents in England. It’s exactly the kind of home I would want to live in if I moved to England… well, except for the lack of air conditioning (I’d be hiring someone to install a HVAC, pronto!) and except for the spooky stuff going on.
Because, while it may hold many happy memories for Georgia and boasts a bucolic countryside setting (not to mention that her sister, BIL, & adorable niece – and a swoony single-dad doctor & his adorable son live nearby), it’s definitely not starting out as the healing space she hoped for. Someone keeps getting into her house, leaving notes and other taunts meant to trigger fear, stalking her movements and making sure she knows it… But why? And then there’s the matter of her ex-husband…. and that’s all the details I’m giving you about the spooky stuff. Hopefully I’ve whetted your appetite to read it for yourself. I personally couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to solve the mystery with Georgia and Will (the swoony single-dad doctor I mentioned earlier), holding my breath as I waited for the suspense-filled showdown I knew was inevitable. I also suspected nearly everyone of being involved in it, and I’m still pretty sure there are more secrets to be unearthed as the series continues – and I’m there for it, 1000 percent.
Bottom Line: Captured in Frame by Laura Thomas is exactly what I want in a romantic suspense novel. The layered, well-drawn characters grabbed my attention, the cozy setting (which can easily translate to spooky, given the right circumstances) beckoned me to sit and stay awhile, and the skillfully-plotted suspense elements kept me riveted to the pages. When you add in a sweet & spark-filled romance between two wounded hearts, a couple of stinkin’ adorable children, and natural expressions of faith that flow with the story instead of interrupting it, I’m on a readerly cloud nine! I am fully invested in this series now, and I can’t wait to see what comes next. In the meantime, I’ll be tracking down the author’s backlist!
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
I have enjoyed Laura Thomas's books in the past and was eager to read Captured in Frame. It did not disappoint and was a page-turner! This book perfectly blends suspense, romance, and family dynamics and kept me reading well past bedtime.
The pacing is relentless, with each chapter leaving you eager for more. Just when you think you've got it figured out, Thomas throws in another twist. And let me tell you, the ending? It's a real shocker, in the best way possible!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.
What a fun, romantic suspense, even even thriller-ish. I was on the edge of my seat at times with this one.
Laura Thomas does a fantastic job with her vivid imagery, it felt as if I was transported straight to England. And her character development, amazing!
RMC, Georgia, and Will I’m going to be honest, I love them both. Georgia seemed as if she could be one of my best friends, so likable and relatable. Will, the swoony and oh so yummy, single dad and doctor. I mean how could you not like that.
The suspense… I could not imagine being Georgia and finding those notes… Ain’t no way!! BYE!?!
This one took me by surprise! A quaint small town mystery. The characters in this one were fun and unique and I really liked Georgia’s spunk and how sweet Will was. And we can’t forget Harriet, Georgia’s sister! What a hoot! They made for an interesting story, and add in the suspense and I couldn’t put it down.
I loved the setting in this one, made even better because Georgia had been away living her life in Canada for several years, so it was a fun mix of old nostalgia and new adventures for her, which I enjoyed getting to see as she reacquainted herself with the town and area where she spent much of her time growing up. The mystery and suspense also kept me guessing! What a ride!
*I received an ecopy from the publisher. This does not affect my review. This review is voluntary.*
Laura Thomas's books are getting grittier each time! The suspense in this novel was a whole new level. The way she paints the picture of such a beautiful part of England but also the tension that builds with added twists that I had no idea were coming! Such a great read, perfect for a holiday, or maybe a cosy evening in. But just make sure your doors are locked and your security cameras are on! With that said you won't be disappointed with this novel and I do believe there's more to come in the series?Bring it on Laura!! For transparency I was gifted a copy to read, but these views and opinions are all my own. Go ahead and order your copy now, you won't regret it!!
Laura has done it again! I completely enjoyed this book! Expertly written...I loved the setting! *I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.*
This is a delightful new Christian romantic suspense book. It looks like it’s the start of a new series, so that excites me, because I really like the setting and the main characters. The setting is a small town in England, where Georgia and her sisters grew up. She moved to Canada after marrying, but is back in the family cottage to visit and to do photography work, after suffering a heartbreaking divorce. One of her sisters still lives there and has introduced her to a local doctor they know from church, who turns out to be widowed, with a young son. Strange and dangerous things are occurring and Georgia is frightened that she has information she shouldn’t. The mystery is quite good and well-written. I can definitely recommend this sweet and exciting read; I was provided an arc, which I really appreciate, but these opinions are my own.
Interesting romantic suspense; characters, setting, plot. As the author put it "turmoil in tranquility". Liked how the author used the internal dialogue of the main characters, who are Christian. How the continued prayers & asking for guidance were not rare, but continual. Encouraging the reader on in his/her own Christian faith.
I really enjoyed this book. It keeps you guessing from the first page and until the end. I loved the characters and the chemistry between the main characters. If you enjoy good, clean romantic suspense novels, you will love this one.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.
This was an enjoyable story about a photographer who moves from Canada to England to a cottage formerly owned by her grandmother. She is not expecting trouble as she settles in to her idyllic surroundings, but she has to watch her step as someone is on her trail. The mystery keeps you guessing and there is romance and a wonderful faith element.
"Her whole adult life she attempted to capture beauty through the lens of her camera. Nature, weddings, cities, babies. Even in fragile imperfections. It filled her with joy. Maybe God found joy in the beauty of her brokenness."
I really, really enjoyed this book set in the English countryside. I will definitely read the sequel.
There is nothing sweeter than childhood memories, and Georgia Brooks hopes that she can recapture some of her childhood joy by moving to Bramble Cottage. Bramble Cottage is located in the English countryside. It belonged to her grandmother. She has many good memories of time spent there with her grandmother. She needs a fresh start. Her husband betrayed her, and her faith has taken a hit as well. She believes that a change of scenery from Vancouver is just what the doctor ordered. She always has her camera with her, and is always looking for another great picture. It seems pictures may be what gets her in a pickle.
Dr. William Hughes is a pediatric surgeon who has had tragedy in his life as well. He has had to keep going and keep smiling because he has an adorable son to raise. This loss in his life has affected him in many ways, one of which is that he has no desire for a relationship. That rings true until he meets Georgia. He feels the protective walls coming down.
Georgia realizes that she is in possession of some incriminating evidence left behind by her husband. This evidence has put a target on her back. The mystery in this book is a fantastic slow build.
This was a wonderful book filled with intrigue, suspense and mystery. The budding romance between the two main characters is not gushy. You can see them building their relationship, even though the attraction was immediate. Both have suffered a crisis of faith, especially Georgia, and this faith-infused story is a lesson in forgiveness. The action surrounding the mystery really revs up toward the end of the book with a little twist I did not see coming. If you are a fan of romantic suspense with an emphasis on faith, you will love this book.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I enjoyed this suspenseful tale set in a small village in modern day England. Most of my reading with English settings has been historical, so I enjoyed the view of modern life in a country where they drive on the wrong side of the road in such vehicles as SUVs and sports cars. Georgia, the heroine, lives in Vancouver, Canada, but has made the trip to Bramble Downs where one of her sisters lives. Bramble Cottage was the home of their grandparents, which Georgia and her husband bought before her husband abandoned her for another woman. Georgia was hoping to make a fresh start in a home where she spent many happy times during childhood. Little does she know that someone else has an interest in the home for a much different reason. What she initially had expected to be almost like a vacation while she unwinds and takes photos of life in a small English village suddenly takes an unanticipated and unwelcomed turn. Not only does the author have her readers on the edge of their seats, she has Georgia and her family on the edges of their seats. The suspense continues to grow as one thing after the other happens to her and those around her. The reader questions if she is making a terrible mistake to remain in England. Several people in particular seek to help her stay grounded and on track. Two in particular are her twin sisters, one who lives just down the road and the other who lives in Paris. The third person is an orthopedic surgeon who lost his wife in a car accident a year earlier. Each of them is quick to respond when Georgia calls. If she only knew what or who was behind all the mysterious things that keep happening, she might be able to handle it all just a bit easier. Not knowing what she did not know was about to get the best of her. I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
I was ready for a change of pace in my heated summer reading and Captured in Frame was a perfect fit. I feel like it took me a lot longer to read than it should have, most likely due to the slower, sleepier pace, but this was exactly what I needed.
Georgia is in England looking for a fresh start after years of pain and anguish in Canada, but from the moment she sets foot in Bramble Cottage sinister things begin to happen to her and before long she’s caught up in a murder mystery that is all-consuming. Luckily, she does not have to deal with this scary situation alone and has her family and new friend Will as a strong support system. It is this loyalty and protection that I admired most about this novel. I especially loved all of the bonding moments with Georgia, Will, and his infant son, Jack. It’s clear this trio has a special bond before any of them even realize it, and it was sweet to see this new relationship grow.
I would’ve liked the pace to have been more picked up and a nice little twist would’ve made it even better but overall, I enjoyed this novel. I do feel like this was more on the cozy side and not the suspense I had hoped for, yet there is something endearing that drew me in time and time again. If you’re wanting a nice mystery with some decent tension amid a picturesque English countryside, then look no further than Captured in Frame.
*I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher through JustRead Tours. All views and opinions expressed are completely honest, and my own.
First off — fantastic cover art! Drew me right in and made me insta buy the book! Well, that and the fact that Laura Thomas is a Canadian author and the back blurb is so enticing!
Atmospheric from the very first chapter. I love the way Thomas draws out the suspense — there’s almost a Gothic feel to it. Georgia, beleaguered by unexplained occurrences at a time in her life when she is most vulnerable. A handsome widowed doctor who proves to be a friend and ally despite his own traumatic past. Seemingly benign messages that only Georgia recognizes as sinister. Doesn’t that sound like a classic Mary Stewart or Phyllis A. Whitney novel?!
And the faith content is exceptional. I could so relate with Georgia’s needing to be in control, wrestling with God for ownership of, well, everything.
“I’m not good with being out of control. I’ll admit, I’m a control freak. Always have been.”
“That’s when God steps in though, isn’t it? When we come to the end of ourselves and remember He’s sovereign…”
Love, love, love that last line. The imagery of God stepping in when we come to the end of ourselves…made such an impact on me. Like a wake up call and I so love when my fiction speaks spiritual truths into my life. I’ve been reading a lot of secular ‘clean’ fiction and Christian Fiction that’s been very light on faith elements lately and I didn’t realize how much I missed these precious inspirational threads. So grateful for authors like Laura Thomas who weave God into their stories.
Christian Suspense Romance has become a favorite genre of mine to read. Captured in Frame by Laura Thomas is Book 1 in the Bites of Betrayal series. Laura Thomas is a "new to me" author as this is the first book by her that I have read.
WOW, this book starts out strong and the suspense is never ending. Georgia Brooks needed a new start in life and she decided to get that start in a small village in England. She inherited a small cottage from her grandparents and is finding solace there. She meets local Peditraic Surgeon, Doctor William Hughes, and they begin a friendship. They eventually find secrets hidden in the Cottage and they team up to figure out these secrets. Danger lurks behind the secrets but they are determined to uncover the Family truths. A sweet Romance blossoms through them spending time together. I really LOVE that Dr. Will has a strong faith in God and the book really shows that. The book is a definite page turner with many twists and turns. The book is filled with Mystery, Suspense, Romance and Faith. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Mystery Romance. GREAT BOOK!
I was hooked from page one! One trademark of Thomas's writing is that she immediately invests you in her stories, and Captured in Frame is no exception. I wanted to understand Georgia's trigger to charred toast and had to keep reading to see how she would find healing for her broken heart. That healing comes partly in the form of a handsome surgeon with his own wounded heart and also from rediscovering her long-buried faith. I loved the message that God can take the charred remains of our past and cause new life and love to grow in spite of them. Add an art heist, hidden secrets in a quaint English cottage, and the sweetest little toddler named Jack--and you have a story that is impossible to put down. (It will also make you want to double check that you locked your doors!) This is a must-read for fans of Christian romantic suspense.
Get ready for a riveting read! Georgia Brooks is a professional photographer who is temporarily residing at Bramble Cottage in the quaint English village of Bramble Downs. What she thinks will be a refreshing time away from her home in Canada suddenly turns into a sequence of terrifying events for her, her family, and the pediatrician who becomes involved with her. A ring of greedy criminals with connections to her ex-husband will stop at nothing to get the valuable items they need from Georgia. A chilling, thrilling suspense tale by master storyteller Laura Thomas! This is book one in the Bite of Betrayal series which leaves you impatiently yearning for book two! I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.
Captured in Frame is riveting, heart-wrenching, and too interesting to set aside. If you love to read romantic suspense then this perfectly paced book with a blend of intrigue, romance and heart-wrenching emotion, will take you on an entertaining journey. Be prepared…this story is hard to put down. Every woman can find themselves in the relatable, but wounded Georgia Brooks, and will cheer for the swoon-worthy hero, Dr. William Hughes, who has suffered tragedy of his own. Their sweet connection is infectious, and the well-paced mystery keeps you invested all the way to the end. Add in the charm of the English countryside, a quaint cottage, and secrets including an art heist, and you need look no further than Captured in Frame for a wonderful summer read.
Such a beautiful locale—set in the idyllic, quaint English village of Bramble Downs where everybody knows your name! Dark secrets and betrayal abound in this beautifully written novel about a young woman who encounters a stalker and her delightful sisters whom I assume will star in the next two books in the series.
I found myself a little confused in the all the detailed whys and wherefores of the suspense plot, but understood enough to know the bad guys get theirs! I can't wait to read 'The Final Word' Book 2 where the suspense aspect sounds more to my preference. Great book with a faith thread that's not too preachy or over the top. Laura Thomas's writing just gets better and better! Enjoy!
I started reading, planning on only reading one chapter that night before bed, six chapters later I put it down to sleep. The next day, I picked it up, again only planning to read a couple of chapters and finally put it down at chapter 20. Finished it the next day. It was an extremely well written novel. I obviously couldn't put it down.
Georgia, the heroine, was highly relatable. The way the author included prayers and God was wonderful, not forced and I would even say enticing for someone who may not have a relationship with him. Showing them that he is there for us, that even brief prayers are a way to communicate with God.
I definitely would recommend that everyone purchase this book and enter the world created by Laura Thomas.
I loved this story! What sets Captured in Frame apart is its exploration of deeper themes like grief, faith, and the quest for redemption. Thomas delicately balances these emotional undercurrents with the fast-paced plot, making this book more than just a romantic suspense novel. The message of trusting in others and God adds a deeper dimension to the story.
Overall, Captured in Frame is a captivating read for fans of romantic suspense who appreciate a well-crafted story that combines mystery with heartfelt moments. Laura Thomas has created a world and characters that will linger with readers long after the final page is turned.
