Good, but out there story.... Woman runs from abusive ex into arms of a man who has trust issues with a challenge over his head that he has to complete or else he loses stake in his inheritance.

This was my first book by Jaine Diamond and good lord she completely blew me away! This book is soooooooo good!! Jaine completely nailed, NAILED the chemistry between Jameson and Megan. I have been reading a shitload of romantic novels and this one really is the Diamond ;) amongst the lot!
The book starts with Jameson who has to go to the reading of the will of his grandfather. His grandfather owns a billion dollar company. And he and his brothers and sister are a very important part of that business. During the will they find out that his secretary Valerie was his lover, and he left her one billion dollars. And if Jameson and his siblings want to keep their inheritance they must complete a task the other siblings made for each other. And the first name that is pulled from the box is Jameson's name. And his task is: NO SEX FOR NINETY DAYS.
Low and behold, his siblings made several stipulations.
Happy endings of any kind?
Nope.
And I definitely won't be finding any loopholes - getting a woman off, using an object between us to buffer actual touching, touching over clothes. Absolutely anything that's sexually gratifying or results in an orgasm in a woman's company - hers or mine - is a no-go.
Jameson is having a terrible time with it. But he is determined to succeed and keep his position in the company. And when he sees a woman struggling with her suitcase that has burst open he is insanely drawn to her. He quickly goes back to his house. One of his best friends Cole is staying with him because his home gets renovated. He lets Jameson know his sister will stay with them as well. And when he meets his sister Megan he sees the woman who struggled with her luggage and made his d**k hard. And that is what kickstarts this story.
Cole, of course, needs to leave. Leaving Jameson and Megan alone in that big house. And when his brother forces him to do damage control in the media. He asks Megan to be his fiance. It must be real for the world. And real for his staff at home. So she must sleep in his bedroom and they must be social together. But he will not touch her. Not at all.
I love just how strong and determined Megan is. She is no fool. And truly sticks to her guns. And I love her for that. But being so close to a man that makes your entire body and soul ache is getting more difficult each and every day.
"I'll tell you upfront that I'm not going to fall in love. It's not what I do." She stares at me, and it unnerves me. "Come home with me tonight," I practically growl. "Then decide." The words fall out of my mouth, hot with all the lust I feel for her.

His light blue eyes lift to mine, and suddenly it's hard to breathe.
I try to smile at him. He doesn't smile back.
They both yearn, ache for the other one. And f**k I felt it in my bones. I got so hot and bothered while I was reading this book. They literally keep their distance but they are so freaking close and I ached with them. Their lust, the glances. That freaking HOT scene where she spies on him. My lord. I am getting warm already!
"How did you find me, by the way?" I'd love to watch that defiant look melt into ecstasy as I shove my cock into her. Christ. The sex thoughts are rampant tonight. Every time she looks away, I'm mentally groping her. Undressing her. Bending her over and fisting her hair, wrapping my hand around her throat... It takes me a moment to understand what she's asking.
And when they discuss boundaries. And how their 'relationship' actually works. I just LOVED this scene!
"That's okay with me," I continue. "I just want you to know that. I guess what I'm saying is I'd like first dibs please. If you decide to have sex with someone. You know, me or someone else. You said we'd discuss it first. So, I'm discussing it. And I'd like first dibs."
And this tiny teenie scene....
I stare at those sweet, soft, open lips, and my thudding dick gets the better of me. "Fuck it." I kiss her, hard, my mouth claiming, then dominating, then utterly consuming hers, as I thumble head over heels into her sweetness.
And when Jameson keeps insisting it's temporary. Not ready to give in just yet..
"You'll have to get used to my appetite if you're going to be my wife."

This is my first time diving into this author's work, and let me tell you, it won't be my last! The characters are so well-written and captivating. Jameson is the quintessential playboy with a heart of gold, an alpha cinnamon roll hero who manages to be both suave and sweet. And Megan is just so relatable and easy to root for. Watching her go from cautious to opening up was just beautiful. The banter between them had me grinning, and the slow-burning romance had me hooked from the start. The chemistry between Megan and Jameson practically leaps off the page! I couldn't put this book down. Overall, it's a charming and addictive read that leaves you with all the warm fuzzies. This book is a fantastic introduction to Jaine Diamond's writing, and I can't wait to devour more of her stories!

Mi opinión personal:
Mis amores, me ha encantado este libro, lo leí en un suspiro de lo que engancha y necesito urgentemente el libro de todos y cada uno de los Vance.
Jameson puede parecer el típico multimillonario playboy, pero en realidad esconde a un hombre dulce y vulnerable. Para conservar la herencia que su abuelo le dejó debe pasar por un reto difícil de superar, para conseguirlo, decide que un compromiso falso es su mejor opción.
¿Quién mejor que la hermana de su mejor amigo, que casualmente vive en su casa?
Megan es una mujer fuerte, inteligente e independiente. Una escritora novel que está huyendo de una relación tóxica y solo necesita un poco de confianza y apoyo para salir adelante.
La química entre Jameson y Megan está a un nivel estratosférico, desde el primer momento en que se ven las chispas saltan. Porque cuando dos personas se atraen mucho pero no pueden sucumbir, tienen mucho acumulado. Por favor, la escena del cuarto de baño de Jameson 😏

The amount of times the word “velvet” was used in this book is absolutely wild. I was about 30% through and was getting ready to DNF. On top of the overuse of a super random word, the story was kind of boring but once she said yes to the proposal it felt like it was picking up and I was interested again. About 45% through I was ready to DNF again. I know some people don’t mind it and enjoy it in books but I just thought it was so weird how she watched him do his business without him knowing. If he had done it to her, it would have been icky. It was also just weird how she went from being so untrusting with men and distant and nervous to wanting to jump his bones from one chapter to the next. I think her curiosity and interest in him made sense but it just doesn’t make sense how she was so worried about being hurt by another man but was dying for Jameson to do her and sounded/acted so desperate about it. It just was not a smooth transition from being hesitant to being obsessed with him. It was like one page to the next. She went from “I have to go back to bed or he’ll know I was watching him” and “maybe I should go to the bathroom to finish there” and “I don’t want him to know” to then literally rubbing herself out laying right next to him in the bed while he’s awake… this book was all over the place. She also describes her own brother as hot and he describes his sister are pretty… I’ve never met any man in my life that would use the words “pretty” and “curvy” to describe their sister to someone. Even when they are pretty it’s just something I feel like most boy/girl siblings dont notice about each other. That part was so weird.

A través de su argumento, puede verse que se trata de un libro cuya sencillez se basa en un cliché con gran facilidad para encandilar al lector. Desarrolla una trama que bien pudiera catalogarse como plana, sin embargo, es su sencillez su mejor valor ya que, con ella, no hay ni un ápice de decepción, construyendo un romance resultón. Sus páginas aglutinan una sucesión de tópicos y giros por completo predecibles, bajo el prisma de una historia de amor que fusiona emoción y erotismo, huyendo de la profundidad propia de los sentimientos más complejos. Su punto fuerte es, desde luego, su naturalidad a la par que una agilidad que te lleva pronto a alcanzar su final, con el convencimiento de que su elección como lectura ha sido la acertada.
El constante intercambio de perspectivas entre sus protagonistas, te lleva como lector a conocer cualquier mínimo matiz de ambos. Jameson y Megan son una pareja quizás no del todo llamativas, pero que cuentan con una evolución calmada, centrada en convertirlos en unos personajes con un atractivo mínimo con el que conectar sin esfuerzo. La sucesión de escenas de alto contenido erótico, no son para nada un elemento entendido como negativo, puesto que su configuración y desarrollo, se da, cuando los sentimientos y la atracción ya comienzan a asentarse, dejando así espacio al crecimiento personal y emocional.
Siendo como es, la primera vez que leo a la autora, ha sido una más que positiva carta de presentación. Jaine Diamond sabe dar forma con sus propios recursos literarios a esta historia que establece una relación falsa entre sus protagonistas, como perfecto contexto para atrapar. Se trata de un libro que se lee bien, su sencillez te lleva a leerlo con gran agilidad.

Wow, I just finished this book, and I'm still buzzing from the experience! Let me tell you, Jaine Diamond knows how to craft a story that keeps you hooked from start to finish 🥵 If you’re a fan of slow-burn romances with top-notch character development, you’re in for a treat.
First off, let’s talk about Jameson. He’s a classic alpha male with a soft side - a playboy with a heart of gold. You’ll love him, even when he’s a bit cocky at first. But Megan, our strong and sassy heroine, knows how to handle him 😎 watching her break down his walls was just perfect.
And Megan? She's super easy to root for. She's relatable, especially going through a tough breakup. But she doesn't let that stop her. She's cautious but brave, and seeing her open up is beautiful! Plus, the banter between her and Jameson is hilarious and heartwarming.
The plot is so unique! Jameson has to earn his inheritance through a series of challenges set by his siblings - what can go wrong?! It’s such a fresh take on the billionaire trope, and it kept me guessing the whole time. The challenges bring out so many layers in both characters, and watching them grow closer was so satisfying 😌

I devoured this story and could not put it down! I absolutely loved this take on a billionaire earning his inheritance it was so different from others and I really enjoyed it! I really don't want to give away to much because I would love for others to read how the inheritance is earned because it really is just so different and fun (well maybe not for our characters but for the readers). Let's just say each sibling got to pick out another sibling and they have to pick a challenge for them to do and then they decide if that challenge was met/completed and that is how the inheritance is earned. Fun and different right!?
Now onto our characters.....
Megan...Oh I just adored her so much! Even though she is going through a rough breakup Megan is strong and sassy. She does have an attraction to our Jameson but let's just when Jameson makes a proposal she doesn't jump for it right away and instead he has to really work for our girl to say yes.
Jameson...when we first meet him he doesn't give you the best impression. In fact the impression he gives off is one thats a bit full of himself and has a one track mind. But let's just say we see a different side to Jameson and one that only Megan seems to be able to bring out of him.
Megan and Jameson are amazing and the sexual tension through this book was so worth the slow burn! While yes the spice is slow to show up in this book I will say it was worth the wait because the spice was spicing but I honestly loved seeing the characters relationship naturally develop without the spice. The way Jameson supports Megan and her writing was everything we love to see in MMC. The communication was top tier between these two because we also know that is the most important thing to them. When Jameson can't specially talk to Megan about a situation (legally he can not) he doesn't like that hanging over them and he tells her this and does something about! He finds a way for it to be communicated to her for him so he is not breaking the legal contract...I mean that is communication and trust perfected.

Mrs. Diamond has done it again. Jameson Vance is top tier book boyfriend material. Not only is an alpha cinnamon roll he is also possessive and is not at all "vanilla." Jameson Vance is the youngest of the Vance family and has the largest heart that he protects with everything he's got. The middle of a cinnamon roll is my absolute favorite part and let me tell you, I enjoyed every single word in order to get to that gooeyness that is Jameson. I love that this man gives everything he's got to the people he cares for and loves and Megan didn't take advantage of that, she protected it. Megan, too me was a strong FMC but not in the typical ways that we might thing is strong. I love that her and Jameson had the same level of compassion and need for honesty.
This is the first book in the new series called Bayshore Billionaires and let me tell you, if this book is setting the tone for this series I will be devouring every single book in this series! Because it is that good!! If you have never read Jaine Diamond's books you are missing out because the world building and character depth and development are so off the charts. Jaine has a way of sucking you into a world that you NEVER want to leave. If I could set up a tent 🏕 in the Dirtyverse I totally would. All of her characters are well thought out and the growth is always amazing to read and see transform. I cannot wait for the next book and I will be sitting her on the edge of my seat until it has been released.

Be prepared to swoon while reading this book! Charming Deception is a marvelous start to this author’s NEW series titled Bayshore Billionaires. An engaging read, this author slayed me with her remarkable writing style, impeccable character development, and an interesting storyline that kept me glued to my seat. This is the perfect beach-side read, rainy day read, and pretty much an anytime read!

Jameson Vance is the youngest sibling of the prominent Vance Family and with that comes fascinating family dynamics, unique challenges, and responsibilities. He is rich, gorgeous, and has the reputation of being a notorious playboy. A cinnamon roll hero, this billionaire bachelor may seem a bit rough around the edges, but his charm and thoughtfulness had me swooning throughout the book.
Megan is a strong heroine and easy to connect with. She faces her own obstacles and I enjoyed watching her grow as a character. She truly “sees” Jameson and her caring and understanding nature is part of what makes her the ideal partner for him.
Unusual (and rather intriguing) circumstances throw these two together, lending itself to an unforgettable story full of secrets, romance, and all the feels. It can be read as a standalone, or as a continuation of all the previous series: "dirty", "players" ," vancinity villain's". I personally recommend reading all the other books first, since some of the previous characters make appearances in this book.
'Charming Deception' is a late coming of age story, for both Megan (the heroine) and Jameson (the hero). Both characters deal with difficult families and emotional relationship baggage. Through uncommon family circumstances, Jameson is forced to change his 'billionaire playboy' image to that of a more mature and stable man. Megan comes into Jameson's life at the perfect time and he makes her an offer she can't refuse. She agrees to help him play pretend 'fiancé', or is it pretend?? 'wife'.
The chemistry between the characters is of the charts, and the sexual tension and anticipation is unbelievable. You will definitely connect deeply with these characters. The story has a very enjoyable plot, and the new characters backstories (siblings) hint to be incredibly sexy and fun. Can't wait for the next book of the series.

Jameson is everything I love in an alpha. Strong, protective, and commanding. His intensity comes through in the way he owns EVERY scene, and you can’t help but be drawn to him.
Megan has her own strength and determination, and she doesn’t just melt under Jameson’s alpha side. She pushes back, makes him work for it, and matches his fire with her own.
& the spice is spot on. 👌🏼Just the right amount to keep things exciting and perfectly matched to the story. 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️

Billionaire, fake dating, he falls first and hard. It was a great escape. Although the snippets of the book within a book had words I didn’t like. I will continue the series because Janie’s worlds are interconnected and it’s so fun to see characters I already know.

Haha! how many times have I read a "fake fiancee" trope book?!? A lot of times. But this was a fresh take on that and it was entertaining as hell! The idea for Jameson's challenge and the banter between the Vance siblings made for a really interesting plot. I'm looking forward to the rest of the books in the series! Meghan's book was also very entertaining, I liked the way that story progressed and Jameson became more and more invested. It was adorable! Also, the maturity of the MCs was refreshing, loved how they resolved their differences. A very good read.

When Jaine Diamond says she's releasing a new book, my ears perk right up. She creates multifaceted, delightful characters I want to know everything about, like billionaire playboy and marketing genius, Jameson Vance and the sweet, fiesty woman he's about to meet. Charming Deception is the first book in her new Bayshore Billionaires series. If a hot alpha billionaire, cinnamon roll hero is your catnip, then Jameson Vance is your man. Even his name sounds sexy!
This exciting new series begins with the five Vance siblings, meeting to discuss the details of their grandfather's will. He got the last laugh with his twisted final wishes, for his heirs, and his billions- a high stakes game of loyality and secrets, with everything on the line. So mysterious and intriguing, just like Jameson himself. Gah, by the end of this book, I knew he was one of this author's most romantic leading men, and that's really saying something.
When writer Megan Hudson finally meets up with her brother, can you guess who his best friend might be? Of course it's the magnetic guy in a besoke suit she met earlier, after two awful days of travelling away from her old life. They don't exactly hit it off, but a spark is there. And the plot thickens!
A surprise proposal and fake engagement between these two, from completely different worlds? One of my favorite romance tropes of all. Close proximity- another I can't resist, especially when Megan will need to live with Jameson for a year and pretend to 'be in love', according to their 'arrangement'. Thrown together, but somehow perfectly matched, with chemistry that so hot and intense, their sensual slow burn could incinerate water. His grandfather must be chuckling from the grave, given Jameson's ridiculously impossible predicament, but his youngest grandson is definitely not laughing.
Jameson was not at all how he seemed at first, and Megan had a few surprises up her sleeve too, but their truths were so much fun to figure out. Thank goodness for dual POVs! The honest way they connected with each other touched my heart, except for that one 'thing' that could never be revealed. My favorite parts of this Charming Deception? How about everything? It's fun, flirty and full of witty, dirty innuendos, but with shared experiences that bring them closer, in a beautiful, soul baring way.
This is another amazing Jaine Diamond romance that'll be hard to forget. When Jaine Diamond says she's releasing a new book, my ears perk right up. She creates multifaceted, delightful characters I want to know everything about, like billionaire playboy and marketing genius, Jameson Vance and the sweet, fiesty woman he's about to meet. Charming Deception is the first book in her new Bayshore Billionaires series. If a hot alpha billionaire, cinnamon roll hero is your catnip, then Jameson Vance is your man. Even his name sounds sexy!
This exciting new series begins with the five Vance siblings, meeting to discuss the details of their grandfather's will. He got the last laugh with his twisted final wishes, for his heirs, and his billions- a high stakes game of loyality and secrets, with everything on the line. So mysterious and intriguing, just like Jameson himself. Gah, by the end of this book, I knew he was one of this author's most romantic leading men, and that's really saying something.
When writer Megan Hudson finally meets up with her brother, can you guess who his best friend might be? Of course it's the magnetic guy in a besoke suit she met earlier, after two awful days of travelling away from her old life. They don't exactly hit it off, but a spark is there. And the plot thickens!
A surprise proposal and fake engagement between these two, from completely different worlds? One of my favorite romance tropes of all. Close proximity- another I can't resist, especially when Megan will need to live with Jameson for a year and pretend to 'be in love', according to their 'arrangement'. Thrown together, but somehow perfectly matched, with chemistry that so hot and intense, their sensual slow burn could incinerate water. His grandfather must be chuckling from the grave, given Jameson's ridiculously impossible predicament, but his youngest grandson is definitely not laughing.
Jameson was not at all how he seemed at first, and Megan had a few surprises up her sleeve too, but their truths were so much fun to figure out. Thank goodness for dual POVs! The honest way they connected with each other touched my heart, except for that one 'thing' that could never be revealed. My favorite parts of this Charming Deception? How about everything? It's fun, flirty and full of witty, dirty innuendos, but with shared experiences that bring them closer, in a beautiful, soul baring way.
This is another amazing Jaine Diamond romance that'll be hard to forget. New book by Jaine Diamond did not disappoint. The newest main character couple Jameson and Megan were hot and heavy and you could feel the chemistry coming off the pages of the book! I loved the characters and their story. Must read for summer!

Not what I was expecting!
I’ve been really excited for this author’s next book to come out since she’s one of my all-time FAVORITE authors. I’ve read ALL of her books, and have read most of them many, many times. Additionally, I have audiobooks for most of them, which I’ve also listened to multiple times. I am honored and thrilled to have been selected for an ARC for another of her books!
Now to the nitty gritty.
In all honesty, this book is closer to a 3.75 Star rating for my picky ass. Part of me is shocked that I breezed through this as quickly as I did because I actually found it a little slow to start. A lot of that was due to the world building that had to be done since this book was only *very* loosely related to the “Dirtyverse” (basically, a few characters are mentioned in passing, but that’s about it). That being said, Ms Diamond always has a plan & I trust her to know exactly what she’s doing and am excited for the ride.
Jameson wasn’t super likable at first, but you could tell he wasn’t as scummy as his reputation leads you to believe he is either. Megan is just as sweet as could be from the get go, and the reader immediately sympathizes with her. It doesn’t take very long for Jameson to start winning the reader (and Megan!) over. I was pleased to see that in doing so, Ms. Diamond didn’t follow the typical roadmap for that trope, which was refreshing and fun.
I will say that the last 20% ish of the book felt pretty rushed at times, and things I expected to happen or to be tied in didn’t, which I found very unusual for this author. (For example, we learn early on that Megan is a bit of a voyeur. But….that doesn’t really tie in anywhere, which was kind of disappointing and made that revelation seem a bit unnecessary? I guess? There were several other little mentions of random things throughout the book (which I won't specify for the sake of minimizing spoilers) which also ended up being mostly useless/dead ends.
Is this book a favorite of mine? I hate to say it, but to be completely honest, no. That being said, I still really enjoyed reading it and I am actually looking forward to reading it-reading it already. I just wish that the pacing could’ve been a little steadier, I guess, so the ending didn’t seem so rushed.
Also, just fyi: once you (finally) get to the 🌶️🔥🥵 parts? WHOO BOY! Yes, please & thank you! 🤣

Just finished the audiobook version & I have to say that I enjoyed this story even more the second time around. (Plus, Lee Samuels’s voice is hot AF. Yum).
