The story 'A Sparkler for Her Rascal' by S.R. Griffith is a fun look at alien romance as is evident from the cute title to the story. Skion is an alien that never took life seriously until he came to Earth and unexpectantly found his mate. He had to land on Earth so that his malfunctioning spacecraft could repair itself. He had just landed when a human female named Tilly came across him in the woods. She thought she was investigating a falling star and did not expect to see a blue alien with horns on his head. Skion immediately sensed that she was his mate and after she ran back to her campsite, she was surprised to find Skion right beside her. He himself was surprised to see as easily she accepted him after he assured him that he was not a demon just because he had horns. In truth, Tilly was having a miserable time with her estranged father, who never really took an interest in her, and her ex-boyfriend that her father had invited to come along with them. The ex-boyfriend had always treated her cruelly and she had told him to stay away from her and her father was aware of this, so she was angry at both of them. Skion treated her with respect and insisted that her ex treated her with respect too, so she was happier to have Skion with her than she was to have her father and her ex. She felt sexually aroused when Skion was around, and she was confused by this until Skion explained the mating bond to her. Skion hoped that Tilly would agree to come back home to his planet with him where he promised her that she would be loved.

3.5 stars. Tilly, the female human lead, invited her estranged father to go camping because it was something she remembers enjoying as a child and she was feeling lonely because her mother is now dead. Unfortunately, he proves he’s still a jerk by inviting her emotionally abusive ex along.

Skion, the male alien lead, never intended to land on Earth - it’s banned, after all - but his ship insists on landing for emergency repairs. As he leaves his ship so it can repair itself, he sees Tilly and is drawn to her. Is she his mate? His pheromones seem to think so, pouring off his skin to entice her. But Tilly has been abused for a long time and she’s not interested in being convinced to give someone very strange a chance…

This short story is dual POV, and a sci fi holiday romance. I enjoyed Skion’s gentle persistence in convincing Tilly to give him a chance. I empathised with Tilly’s struggles to separate herself from her last link.

I am two minds about this one and I think it is more of 3.5 if I'm being honest. I loved the banter between Tilly and Skion at times but somehow there is just something missing. I just can't quite put my finger on what though. It could be due to the tenuous reasons that Tilly stayed in the first place as quite frankly with the way her father was towards her and the fact her ex was being equally repellent she could have packed up and moved elsewhere rather than staying. I just had the feeling that somehow I was waiting on something more, something deeper maybe, that just never came or I am also just in a funny mood today, which is also entirely possible right now. Tilly is still grieving the loss of her mum and is trying to make the best of what she realises was a wasted endeavour. Skion is a loveable rogue though and is a fun character.

This is book 5 Alien Summer Love starring Tilly and Skion. Okay so the way these two meet is down right hilarious but the way Tilly is treated by the people in her life hurt me for I have know that kind of love from people who are supposed to love you. I can relate to Tilly in lots of ways and the fact that she finds her true love is just one of them. I have to say love can mend all and is worth taking a chance on, oh and you will be laughing at the unwanted visitor that can’t take a hint and Skion helps Tilly out with that too. I haven’t read any of the other Alien books but if they are anything like this one I will be grabbing them up fast.

This is now my third book by this author and I am in love! As much world building and character development that you can squeeze into a short novella.

A Sparkler for Her Rascal, I found this book to be a charming, and a page-turner. Even though this book is a short story, I throughly enjoyed reading it. I found it to be both enjoyable and entertaining at the same time. I couldn’t even set my kindle down before finishing the book. Now I’m not going to give out any details about the book because I don’t want to ruin it for anyone else who is going to read it. However, I would most definitely recommend this book to others. I’m mostly definitely going to check out more books written by this author. An amazing alien romance book!.

I enjoyed this book so much! Skion "borrowed" a spaceship from his friend, which he crashes on Earth. This was done on July 4th, so the ship's AI thought they were under attack from all the fireworks. Tilly is on a camping trip with her estranged father. Without her knowing, her dad invites her horrible ex to join in on their trip. As you can see, Tilly needs a rescuer. Que, her champion from the stars, Skion. This book is spicy, and Skion has a different anatomy ;) This makes super hot chemistry. This is an excellent short July 4th read.

I love the perfect beach read and this is one of them. Just enough chapters to keep you through your beach time but not too many to bog you down and make you upset that you have to stop reading when you get up to leave :) S.R Griffith writes well and the characters are lovable and you want them to get their happily ever after. Her dad is trying to push her ex at her, and she isn't having any of that. She tries to leave and runs into problems and needs someone to save her.. turns out a handsome alien can do that! Trying not to give spoilers since it IS a shorter book but all I can say is "grab it and read it" and the rest of the Alien Summer Love books in the collection.

Tilly is trying to rekindle a relationship with her abusive father after her mom passed away and he’s all she has left. When she shows up to the camp site she realizes he invited her abusive ex as well and everything goes downhill until she sees fireworks and a shooting star which ends up being a crash landed alien ship.

Super interesting premise and hot spice. There were some parts that felt like it skipped ahead but overall a fun super short read.

This was an engaging but also heart breaking story of a gal, Tilly, trying to reconnect with her father. Sadly, she finds him just as abusive as he was when she was a child. Thankfully, her wish upon a falling star brings her an unusual hero to help her out. Scion crashed on Earth and finds his pheromones on the loose for his near-by mate. She was strongly affected and couldn't get over how horny she was ;P Adding in his fun anatomy, well, you know she's in for a wild ride. With angst, drama, humour, connection and steam leading to a wonderful HEA, it was a one-sit read for me :D

I like how it starts on Earth and moves to the reality of the alien mating. The details used to describe the life of the FMC gets the reader involved to hope for a better life. While a little shorter than I was hoping for, it is a romance for those who like cheering on the characters. Steamy scenes help the story move along. I do wish we had more about their lives after Earth.

After Tilly’s mom dies she tries to reconnect with her father on a camping trip, only to very quickly remember why she cut him out of her life to begin with. Especially when he invited her ex boyfriend along for the ride. With a wreak blocking the road how will she survive this? Maybe the hot alien that crash landed in the woods can help, especially since he says she’s his mate.
A cute story about blood not always meaning family and love found in strangest of places.

Blue, Horned and Horny

Camping with her dad, Tilly is trying to reconnect with her only family, but it’s a truly unpleasant experience. Add in her ex joining them, and things go from bad to worse. When Skion crash lands his spaceship and Tilly goes to investigate “a shooting star”, a “fated mates” situation unfolds. These two are perfectly dysfunctional together, and I was very amused by their banter. A fun little read.

a very fast paced alien romance ... the whole story took place in less than 24 hours .... Easy to read ( a couple of lunch breaks ) and will make sure I dont go chasing after falling stars . Not your normal super hero /villain alien romance but fun.
