What’s not to love of this book! The description of nature, (sea)landscapes and birds are so beautiful. I love the way the author describes the living at sea. And I can’t help but laugh about the superstitions sailers always have.
The main characters home is an island in sea. So she is bonded with land and water. Her heart and home at two places, or where the two intertwine. And just as the seabirds (the shearwaters), who migrate, she also goes away on an adventure for some time, to end up going back to her home.
And not only the birds are your friends in this book, but the impressive whales as well. I could feel the salt and fresh sea air in my face while reading this beautiful book.
