I write a lot of paranormal books for someone who is afraid of the dark. And I wonder why I have to sleep with the lights on. Sometimes life is a teenaged B horror movie and I'm the one who investigates when the scary music is playing. But the voices are calling and resistance is… Yes. I am a Star Trek geek, too. And a fan of RPG’s. With a slight coolness factor since I've been told I'm allowed to join the pops.

Naw. I like being a nerdy girl :)

What a vivid story and a unique take on the dystopian genre! Larsen hits the ground running from page 1 with an action packed, suspenseful novel that kept me on my toes. Her larger than life descriptions paint this post-apocalyptic for readers, allowing our imaginations to experience the trials faced here. The multilayered storyline, complete with intrigue, mystery, betrayal, and genuine friendship made this one impossible to put down. I devoured every aspect of it. It’s definitely one that will be loved by readers of all ages.

Larsen has a way with words that draws you into the heart of her story. Her detailed descriptions allowed me to picture this unimaginable world in vivid detail. The fast paced, unique, and exciting plot kept me on my toes, sparking my emotions throughout. The variety of different manifestations of the sick provided a complexly fascinating backdrop for the novel. I am still wondering exactly who and what the Crawlers are. This mystery has me dying to unravel it.

The 1st person narrative really makes this story. It puts you in the sphere of the main character, letting her frustration and fear shine through. At the same time her hope and caring sets the tone for something priceless. Trio trying to figure out who she is provides insight not only into her character but into the dynamics of the story as a whole. The ingenuity of these characters is fantastic. They never cease to amaze me. I do really hope that many of the supporting characters will reappear in the final novel of the series. So many of them have wound their way into my heart that I’d love to see them come back and redeem themselves. I love the diversity of the cast in this novel. Beckett, Poppy and Trio wiggled their way into my heart. Socrates’ unique blend of brilliance and childishness really made me stop & think about what these teens were dealing with. Conversely, there were some characters that I didn’t trust one bit & kept waiting for them to turn on everyone else. Yet all of the characters were so well developed. By the end of the novel I felt as if I’d met everyone.

The vivid, action packed story combined with the loveable characters to create something beyond compare. Larsen is a master bard who really knows how to bring her story to life. This novel was the adventure of a lifetime, full of hope & heartbreak & unforgettable scenes. It is a YA novel that will be loved by readers of all ages.

I purchased the Omnibus of the Clone Chronicles and didn't stop between CLone 2 and Clone 1 so this review might be a little convoluted and spoilery. But the reason is because I could not stop reading! I loved Trio so much and all the secondary characters. Clone 2 was full of action and the introduction of Duet was brilliant. She's the perfect addition to the group dynamic, she highlights both the danger and purity of spirit that exists in the clones. I think Clone 2 was actually my favorite because we start to get some hints and larger revelations. The Teks were a super cool premise, however I was frustrated because I still don't understand what purpose their adaptation/mutation serves in the ultimate plot line. Especially because it's not utilized by the crawlers.

Clone 1 was unfortunately kind of a let down. The action maintained and I loved the character resolutions as they were satisfying, emotional and authentic. But the science just wasn't there. For instance

On the plus side though, the deaths/rebirths and role of DOG were fabulous and I really enjoyed the series as a casual reader, but thinking about it too hard makes my head hurt with questions.

A very enjoyable story. Could not put it down. Fast paced includes all the elements of a good story, adventure, love, fear, travel. This is a journey through north America in search of answers. What happened to bring these people to such a destructive state. You must reads the 3 parts as they complete, each other.
Keeps you guessing till the end.

This is a very good series to read. It is more of a science fiction than urban fantasy. (my opinion) It did not take very long to finish this one. :)
