During a forgotten time when the world was powered by steam and clockwork, heroes arose to do battle against the forces of evil. Some were outfitted with the latest technology. Others were changed by the mysteries of science and magic, while a few came from the skies. Capes and Clockwork fuses the fantasy and beauty of steampunk with the action and adventure of the superhero genre. A nice collection of short stories. Nice variety of steampunk, clockwork, science and magic. There are 16 short stories set in different times and different parts of the world. I would recommend it if you are into steampunk.
Usually I do not go for steam-punk book. However I was recommended this book by a friend whom I respect much for his literary choices. Capes & Clockwork: Superheroes in the Age of Steam is a collection of steam-punk theme stories that is hard to put down once you get started.
Some books are just too draggy that I stop reading halfway but not this book.My favorites are "Keely" and "Captain Amy and the Steam driven kittens of Doom". I shall not write any spoilers here so that you need to read them yourself.
I look forward to reading another story by the same author, D. Alan Lewis.
Decent collection of clockwork steampunk super whosits. Great diversity of backgrounds. Nice to see vancouver, and some hillbilly steampunk in the mix. Some stories are of course better than others. Worth a boo if you really like the steampunk. Easy read that i stretched out by having a social life at the same time as reading.
