Scorching summer nights and tropical beaches, steel drums and a luxurious mini yacht… it’s the perfect setting for an indecent proposal… to claim his ex’s son’s first time.
Nicholas
It was only supposed to be one night… and I meant it when I made the deal with my dad’s ex-boyfriend. If I went to college, he would let me tag along Caribbean island hopping on his charter boat for the summer. Cass stuck to his end of the bargain, but not me—I asked for extra terms. One me, him and nothing between us, showing me what it felt like to be loved by a man.
Cassidy
One night, my ass. If I’d known what I was in for before I’d made the deal… I still would’ve done it. Except now I couldn’t stop thinking about him, desiring him, needing him—in my arms, beneath me, by my side. I was a fool for thinking we had a future together, but when I thought about spending the rest of my life with someone, Nicky’s face was the only one I could imagine.
Father Figure is an MM taboo tropical romance with MM+ play with no cheating. Features an age gap, a loving Daddy, and a sweet needy boy. Set sail aboard the Harlowe Two for a wild scorching summer adventure.
Huh! Didn’t expect this to get this kinky but I loved most of it. Mostly I loved their dynamic with Sam, Cass’ best friend and occasional lover. Super hot.
Can’t wait for the second book with Sam adding his bratty nephew into the mix.
What a deliciously dirty little story. This book gives you an absolute holliday feeling and is super hot, even if it takes a while to get to the filthy bits. I really like the build-up. As Nicky is only 19 and his former stepfather is 40, it's good that the reader is reassured that this is a real relationship that is developing, that is new to both of them and comes across as really honest. Nicky knows what he wants and first wraps Daddy Cass around his finger and then Sam as well. I don't think I've ever read a story with sharing where it's so natural and not the least bit strange. Sharing isn't really my thing, but the relationship between Cass and Sam is really perfectly described and it's more than clear how different the feelings between the three of them are. And Cass is incredibly wonderful, I love how he makes every moment with Nicky special and all the things they do together are so beautiful. Besides that, well, yes the hot moments in this book make it perfect for a kinky story.
Sliding the toy back inside, I moved it in and out, building up the fire again, and then… Fucking Christ! What in the blazing fireworks-inside-my-ass was that?! I brushed over the spot again, and again a holy light shone from my ass. I’d done it! I’d found the Holy Grail of butt-play pleasure. I’d found my prostate! There was no way in hell I wouldn't come spontaneously the moment Cass knocked against my gland. There would be no stopping it and it would erupt like Old Faithful. 🤭💞🤭
“Let go, baby boy. Let it go.” Baby boy? Fuck, that did it. I painted his stomach in a hot rush of sticky cum. “I love you, Daddy.” 💞🫠💞
“My dick is making a mess, too.” “No,” Sam laughed. “Little boys don’t have dicks or cocks. Those are for Daddies and Uncles and Sirs. Little boys have little pricks, because they feel like the barest prick when they poke you. You have a pricklet, sweet boy. A tiny little dick toy for us to play with.” 🤤🥵🤤
19 year old Nick asks his dad’s ex to take his virginity. Cass (42) gives in and gives Nick what he wants. But will their taboo relationship last longer than the one night Nick asked for?
I wasn’t bothered at all by the sharing or kink elements but there were enough weird or unappealing moments that the whole book didn’t work for me.
What I liked… I felt like I could really envision the boat and the various destinations they sailed to which was neat. The details really added to the book for me. My favourite character was Sam, Cass’s business partner and occasional lover. He was level headed and gave Cass great advice. He also knew his own worth and didn’t allow Cass to use him as a replacement for Nick.
What I disliked… Micropeen was listed in the content/kink warnings and I spent over half the book trying to figure out who had the micropeen. Eventually we learn that Daddy Cass and Sam are large, so it must be Nick. However, Cass muses that Nick is about 5-6 inches. I found this extremely confusing… he’s larger than the average male but somehow has a micropeen? It would make sense if it was in the context of degradation kink but that’s not how I understood the book. It was just very very weird to me. Sex while intoxicated made consent a bit murky, and isn’t something I enjoy reading, especially when it happens more than once. I also didn’t like how Cass handled explaining their involvement to Nicky’s dad. I’m being vague to avoid spoilers but it gave me the ick.
I picked this book up out of curiosity but I wish I hadn’t. I am glad so many people seem to have enjoyed it, but it wasn’t for me to the point that I won’t be reading any other books by this author.
I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
I can't believe I'm saying this again in the same week, but I honestly think there needed to be more sex scenes 😂😂 I'm normally the person skipping the sex scenes unless there's some actually interesting dialogue!
There was one brief scene around 50% maybe, but nothing really happened until the book got to the 69% mark, and I can't decide if that was intentional or coincidental, but it did make me laugh.
Going in to this book I was expecting the relationship between Cass and Nicky to get going pretty quickly seeing as how they're in forced proximity, but it felt like it took way too long to really get going, and there was more going on between Sam and Cass, than Nicky and Cass/Sam.
I did really like the dynamic between Cass and Sam, and how Nicky fit into that, but Nicky started to really irritate me. He's basically described as a child who gets excited at literally everything, yet he's actively trying to seduce Cass, and I just couldn't match the two sides of him together! I do like Daddy/boy combo's usually because I like that caring element of the relationship, but this was veering too far towards little/middle territory for me, and I just can't wrap my head around that dynamic at all - it's the only kink I don't see the appeal in, along with sounding (which made me cross my legs and flinch 😂😂😂)
I am intrigued to see how Matteo will be incorporated into the relationship though, because the poly/open relationship aspect was really engaging and it's pretty much what kept me reading when I was getting bored of waiting for something to finally happen!
“You’re going to fucking hell, but since you’re already on your way, you might as well enjoy this.”
This was all kinds of wrong, but so hot! Cass and Nicky are adorable together, but add Sam? Temperate sky rockets. Raquel is very talented and she can write the filthiest, the sweetest ansgt free, or the most ansgty dark slow burn like"The Darkness Within (Scars and Stripes #2)", that is one of my favorites 2024 reads. Its pretty special kind of talent***
So Raquel, yes i will read without guilt the next book in the series!
I received a free copy of this book via Indie Author Creative and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Holy smokes, this book was hot! Nicky's spending the summer helping Cass out on his charter boats for the summer and decides to go for what he wants! Cass, being Nicky's dads ex, had him holding out for a minute, but one he gave into temptation, steamy as F! I loved Nicky's character, he's just so adorable, I fell in love. Cass and Sam, love them as well and their entire dynamic. Excited to see how Mateo will fit into the mix!! Raquel did a great job introducing Uncle Sam, really looking forward to it! If you're looking for some hot, steamy, taboo summer fun, I highly recommend this book!
Just listened to the audio, and it was fantastic!!
Father Figure by Raquel Riley is the first book in the Sinful Summers duet.
It was the perfect book for my vacation. I couldn't have asked for a location more conducive to relaxation than the Caribbean, with its crystal-clear waters and enveloping warmth.
There's no great plot in Father Figure and honestly for me, exploring the beautiful islands of the Caribbean aboard Cass's yacht was exactly what I needed. So I had a great time with Cass, Nicky and Sam. I felt as if I were on the trip with them.
Father Figure is really a slowburn, which makes a lot of sense given the nature of Cass and Nicky's relationship. Cass particularly needed time to come to terms with his attraction to Nicky, who is his ex's son.
However when the spice hit...it hit really hard. The last 30% of the book was hotter than the sun. I loved how Sam, Cass's best friend, was added to their dynamic. His presence was natural, given how he was established as an entire part of Cass's life. All three together were so much fun to read.
I consider myself an adventurous reader and really liked how this book further explored the watersport kink. Up until now, the books I'd read in which this kink was featured focused on a single scene. Father Figure has definitely pushed the exploration a little further, without necessarily making it something central to the story. I'm still not sure if this is the kink for me, but I enjoyed getting a better taste of it ( not a literal taste...ewwwww 😆).
I can't wait for the next book in the series and to see Sam find love as well.
Waiting even a few days to review this age gap, first time book has my thoughts about it fading. Good tropes and an extremely attractive MC helped make the story enjoyable, but the writing worked against those pluses. I was surprised when business partners Cass and Sam hopped into bed together, in a mighty sexy scene. I thought the book was about high school graduate Nick wanting to spend his summer before college with much older family friend and five year former lover to his bisexual father. That was an interesting plot point with a bit of taboo, as Nick wants Cass sexually after falling in love with him through his teenage years. Cass is understandably surprised. Their personalities and interests do mesh very well, even with the age gap. Nick wants Cass to be his first and all scenes up to their getting together revolve around Cass fighting the affection turned to lust he has for Nick. All while sleeping with friend Sam. Then the lightbulb went off for me that sexy Sam wanted in on the action with young Nick. Who was open to it. His teenage libido was running hot for Cass and seeing Cass and Sam in a sexual clinch on the boat had him all in on joining in. This was all pretty steamy and the sex scenes were well written. The book lacked some kind of depth, though. I think it was written as a threesome story with a travelogue summertime sailing story wrapped around it. Hot sex and a sweet romance, but somewhat forgettable. Nick’s lawyer dad, who punches out his ex lover Cass, was an attractive character in his brief scenes. I would read a book with him as an MC.
So while I expected this to be smutty as heck (and it was😏) it was a somewhat of a slow burn the cuteness took me by surprise.
Cass and his business partner Sam, own two yachts and take people on cruises. Cass loves the sea and visiting different islands and being free but feels like something is missing.
Enter Nicky, his ex’s son. While Cass was and is a father figure to Nicky, it was written so well that the lines were never blurred. This sort of relationship can be tricky to write as Cass watched Nicky grow up, but thankfully it was never weird and feelings only develop when Nicky is 19.
It was a slow build up and Cass warred with his feelings. About the rights and wrongs, but in the end he couldn’t resist the pull from his sweet boy!
I really enjoyed this book. It was light hearted and low angst. It was also cute and extremely hot when it needed to be. It was taboo especially when they enter a Daddy/boy dynamic but somehow the forbidden aspect just made it better. The pull between the characters is unmistakable and they just belong together!🥹
A STEAMY forbidden love, MM romance with the dual kick of being in love with Dad's ex + Boss/Employee dynamic, a ~20years age gap, a beautiful journey on sea, & kinky spice (+ MMM) to boot! I loved this sweet & smutty story of Cass & Nicky, Devoured my #ARC in 5hrs. I'm excited to see how Matteo adds to their dynamics with Sam!
Cass (40) runs a Charter business with his bestie Sam. They're opposites, Cass is light-hearted, kind while Sam is broody, shit stirrer 😜. C is very protective of his ex's son Nicky! Nicky (almost 20) wants to spend the summer before college with Cass on ship. N's wanderlust matches C's. N is a sunshine, soft (& virgin!) but bold 😳. N admired Cass, but then it grew into a crush!
The book starts out slow then picks up pace & Spice FAST. Cass & Nicky are cute as Daddy/boy. Can once turn into a lifetime? The angst is low, & mostly comes from Cass's guilt— I expected it 😁. But damn, Nicky & Sam were like the devils on his shoulder 🤣.
The MMM & kinky (🐚 play & 💦 sports) scenes are FIREEE 🔥🔥. While I do get C+N's care for Sam is different, I did get MMM vibes from em at last (which I like btw), so I'm curious to see what'll happen in Sam's book! Very excited.
hot and steamy and delicious i absolutely loved this and can't wait for sam's story! this was a lot of fun to read. love this writer, i highly recommend this!
at this point i will read anything raquel writes! MY GOD! this was so fun, i couldn’t put it down and it was SOOOO DAMN HOT HOLY SHIT!!! i can’t wait for book 2!!!
Umm I dont know how to rate this book. I didnt start it expecting a deep love story, and honestly it had more story than I thought it would.
Spice is insanely hot. I dont think I've ever read about a relationship dynamic like this. Cass and Sam are best friends with benefits for 25 years. Even when one of them is in a long term relationstionship, they say they come as a package deal. They claim to be not in love but regardless of anything or anyone in their lives, them not being emotionally or physically together is not an option. Honestly I would consider them in love. Because even when Cass starts to have a very unique bond with Nicky, and says he will prioritize Nicky, to me that felt like due to the dynamic of their relationship. But even Nicky's joining of this dynamic was dependent on accepting Sam's involvement so honestly, say what you want. To me Sam and Cass were the inseperable ones, who happen to be in an open relationship.
I honesltly loved everything in the book, slow burn, spicy scenes, dialogues, beautiful descriptions... up until the daddy/boy dynamic started to go too OTT for my taste. In the bed, sure, can be hot, but Nicky, who was a super fun, cute guy, kind of turned into a 24/7 brainless boytoy. Not trying to yuck anyone's yum here, but I guess this kind of dynamic happening all the time, and also Nicky acting younger and younger in each page at one point gave me an ick. I dont even want to mention the bonus epilogue. I wish I never read that😅 the whole santa role play was just.... insanely bad.
Oh also, Nicky's father's reaction to learning his ex, who helped him raise his kid now sleeping with said kid was just insane. "I guess I'm glad it is you"😅😅😅 no way...
Best parts to me were when all 3 were together. Sam is definetly more my kind of guy.
Is it spicy? Sure, I suppose it hits on that point. But if you want fully fleshed out characters and good dialogue, then I don’t know what to tell you.
Taboo books are one of my guilty pleasures, but there was a lot that felt wrong with this one. And it mainly had to do with Nick’s POV being overly childish and simply cringy to read. There is a stark contrast from acting boyish or young, and being written as a literal child. It’s one thing if Cass’ POV perceived things differently, but what wasn’t the case.
Nicky’s internal dialogue and straight up thought process is so juvenile, that I had a hard time believing this guy was going to college and is very book smart. He is apparently a B-A student and reads a lot, but calls his underwear “undies” and doesn’t really know how to form connections with people at any capacity.
Cass has an issue of thinking one thing and doing another, to the point where the juxtaposition of his chapters with Nicky’s chapters is just straight up whiplash.
I would have probably DNF’d this and should have reigned my expectations more, but I followed through and tried to vibe read it. It’s just for the spice and nothing more.
I actually really enjoyed another duology I read from Raquel Riley, so I guess this one was just disappointing.
Let me start off by saying: judging by the blurb warnings (sharing) I did not go into this book as stoked as I normally would jumping into a Raquel Riley read but I put my faith in one of my favorite authors and she did not disappoint, not only did I eat up this dynamic .....I licked the damn spoon!! The chemistry between these three was fire, the sexy scenes were some of the hottest that I've ever read. This book was so much more than that so I'll dive right into the main couple, were they taboo? Absolutely!!! Were they hella cute? Yep, especially Nicky, he was such an adorable boy. He had an innocence about him but he was such a little vixen at the same time. Let's just say he played the part with perfection in the Daddy/Boy dynamic he and Cass had going on. Now onto Cass, he made such a great Daddy in more ways than one, his affection and care toward Nicky was swoon worthy. His inner conflict about his feelings toward Nicky were realistic and on point in terms of their prior relationship. The relationship shift was pretty heartwarming considering the theme of this book. Now let's talk about Sam, Uncle Sam the sexy dark horse in this story, his character added spice, humor and mischief....he ended up being the perfect playmate for these two. Instead of ruining this couple he added a layer that was next level fire!!! I 100% enjoyed the heck out of this story and I'm so excited to see what next for these guys in Sam’s book. I absolutely recommend this read!!
* I received an ARC of this book, this is my open and honest review *
A very different type of story when compared to the last books written by this author - very low angst and scorching hot. The tropical locations were idyllic and the whole dynamic including sharing fit the characters really well. I was relieved that there wasn't any secrecy involved.
Love love love the taboo, fairly low angst, and all the kinks that developed here. Can’t wait to read more from these men. There were two or three storyline discrepancies, but not bad as I was enjoying the story too much to be bothered by it.
Taboo romance is one of my weaknesses. I love a good taboo/forbidden love book and this one was amazing. Cass used to date Nicky’s dad, and has been a sorta kinda father figure in his life even after he split with his dad. They end up spending a summer on a boat together now that little Nicky is all grown up and things start to heat up! This was a great quick read- definitely check the triggers because they get a little kinky! It does have daddy/boy dynamics but no age play!
1st person, past tense, dual POV (Cass and Nicky) Cassidy Hart (40), co-owner of Harlowe Charter Adventures Nicholas Laurent (19), entering first year of undergraduate program at Waltham University and also Samson Barlowe (40-ish), co-owner of Harlowe Charter Adventures
To set the scene regarding the MM+/partner sharing, because it wasn't super clear to me from either the the synopsis or tropes/triggers list; while the romance is between Cass and Nicky, Cass's best friend and business partner, Sam, is featured prominently. They have been lovers for years and are a package deal, Cass's partners, including Nicky's dad, Brian, have been aware of this and Nicky is aware of it as well. Nicky and Sam develop a special bond, but do not enter into a romantic relationship with one another. I mention it because from the description and my expectations I did not imagine this relationship dynamic at all, I was thinking it would take the form of something a lot more... hedonistic.
This is a delicious taboo romance that was surprisingly sweet and more of a slow burn than I was expecting. Honestly I loved just about everything about this and devoured it in a couple hours.
From Nicky's innocent enthusiasm, to Cass's more reserved experience these two had chemistry for days (and days and days). I loved that, similar to friends-to-lovers, these two had a solid platonic base that evolved into more. It was evident that they were perfectly suited to one another. I adored the care and attention Cass showered on Nicky and I was thrilled watching Nicky gain confidence and come into his own, setting his sights on things he wants and doing what it takes to get them.
One of the things I most enjoyed while reading this story was Cass being able to finally share all of his favourite places and things with Nicky and having him take everything in with such wide-eyed wonder. The descriptions of some of the sights made me want to hop on a plane and explore the Caribbean myself.
Nicky's rocky to start relationship with Sam was navigated with perfection and the three of them were absolute fire together. I thought that Sam's honorific was adorable and just the cherry on top of everything.
There is a short bonus scenes, Get Frosted, that readers can download after signing up for the author's newsletter. It takes place immediately following Father Figure during Cass and Nicky's. I hate the whole 'newsletter sign up bonus scene' scene but this is really cute and icicle hot.
I cannot wait for part two of this duet, not because this ended in any kind of cliffhanger- this could absolutely be read as a standalone - but because I can't get enough of these characters and am eager for Sam to fall for his brat.
I was given an ARC and voluntarily wrote an honest review.
This book was insanely hot! Along with the somewhat taboo nature of a possible ....something.... with his father's ex-boyfriend, Cass, Nicky is so excited to spend the summer out on Cass's charter boat. There is age gap, opposites attract, some kinky goings on with not just the two MC's, and some incredible sights to imagine as they travel the waters on a summer adventure. A highly recommended read that was surprising in how much of a slow burn story it is but I enjoyed that as it built up the tension across the summer. The chemistry between the characters is clear from the start, even as oblivious, wilfully or otherwise, Cass may be. It's an enjoyable ride that really heats up as Cass spoils Nicky as he shares his love of the ocean and hidden wonders on their travels. Cass and Nick's friendship is an interesting addition to the story and I can't wait for Nick's story in the second book of the duology. The story visits some beautiful locations along the way that are wonderfully written. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
Be so for real right now. Like?? What just happened?
Here’s the sitch, buddies. I intentionally signed up for a book I knew I’d struggle with. To elaborate, a super young MC with a familial vibe is not my jam. (It’s personal, I’m not yucking the yum, so don’t get mad.)
But because this author is one I have a lot of trust in, I knew I’d be okay. And it did not even come close to what I was expecting.
It was so much better.
I won’t lie, I was expecting just in-your-face taboo, and only that as the focus. I was incorrect, and that’s my bad for making an assumption. I loved this so much, and not even for the insanely OTT smut. It was on a completely different level, y’all. The smut was smutting on them there Super Saiyan power levels. Over 9000.
Imagine, if you will, the perfect taboo summer/beach read. What are we all looking for? Super cute, no real angst, a little taboo, a whole entire catalogue of filth, and the most precious, wholesome love and HEA. We all want that book we feel a little bad ass for reading when we should be enjoying nature or whatever people think we’re supposed to do when we live in hot soup from March to October, but is really just undercover fluff.
It literally hit every single thing that makes a good book for the relaxing vibes we all need right now. It’s hot, everything is on fire, we’re all cranky, and this will fix us.
Again, this was not the energy I was expecting, but was given and will not be returning, thanks. This book is one I am so glad I took a gamble on, and if someone who isn’t into the core of it can say it’s one of the best summer reads I’ve added to my collection, trust that it’s good. I can’t wait for the second book to drop, and are we gonna talk about that spicy little bonus scene?
Because we should. We shoulddefinitelytalk about it. Light. Up. Icicle. Dildo. Do with that what you will.
5/5. No, I didn’t speak on mechanics because it was an ARC, and that’s not what’s really important here. What’s important here is the question everyone should be focused on: What happened to the shirt? I demand an answer. That was a good shirt. It deserved its ✨moment✨.
**[I received an ARC directly from the author. All ratings, reviews, and opinions are my own]**
First of all, this is a kink book with kinks listed. Don’t read said kink if you’re easily squicked 🙄
This is a Daddy/boy dynamic but that doesn’t even get established until 80% 🤷🏻
It’s hot. The sex is hot.
But while this says it’s not an MMM, it is. The author made the dynamics between Sam and Cass so muddy… and Sam was involved in nearly every intimate scene…. I don’t know why the author didn’t just… have them be together. It was so confusing and frankly some of the scenes between Cass and Sam pissed me off because the author didn’t make dynamics totally clear with everyone on board.
Sorry. I’ve been spoiled by Cara Dee’s excellent and well thought out poly and sharing dynamics. This is not.
I also can’t get past how immature and childish Nicholas is. I love taboo, age gap, Daddy/boy. But I have no idea what Cass sees in Nicholas as a 42 year old man. Nicholas still behaves like a child and I don’t mean in a kinky age play way. He’s just… really immature and the writing was just rough in general.
Didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it and it’s just another in the lonnnnnng line of really rough and lazy MM writing.
Holy Cow!!! Cass and Sam own a Charter Fishing Business in the Keyes. They love their time on the water. Nick is the son of Cass's ex. Summer has started and Nick has his sites set on Cass. This young man is absolutely relentless. This is a fun, dirty taboo story and I Loved every minute of it. There is also a bonus short where more of Nicky's fantasies come true. RAQUEL RILEY is a MAGNIFICENT writer. This is a duet of books. If you want to bask in the sunshine this is excellent choice for reading. The heat is five stars. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS SINFUL SUMMERS DUET!!!!!!!!!!
Okay this was maybe a 3.75/4 I did enjoy this it was pretty OTT and there’s not a plot so much, the plot is smut and that is aaaaall good but there was just some bits about the writing or story I didn’t fully vibe with. the sharing/water sports/micropeen???? weren’t an issue but I dont think there was any micropeen unless I fully missed it. The dynamic in this won’t be for everyone because it isn’t a “traditional” relationship but I thought they were so sweet togeths and I am looking forward to Sam getting his traditional HEA but hope they keep this open thang too 💕
Well, when Raquel said she was taking a breather from her Scars & Stripes series for something completely different, she wasn't kidding. Let's just say that if you're looking for a straightforward relationship, this is not the book for you. This is a high heat story with an age gap and a daddy boy relationship that allows all parties to have all their needs met. Nicky & Cass are perfect for each other with what needs they want met, and they also happen to have a special place for Sam. What I adore about this book, Nicky doesn't hold Cass & Sam's relationship against them. He embraces it. He makes it work where yes, Cass is the love of his life, yet he has a place for Sam to be a major part as well. I am looking forward to Sam's story next and to see how his partner plays into these dynamics.
For what it was, it exceeded expectations tbh. The jump from mine to ours was rather disappointing though, but ehhh… It is what it is. I wonder if it’s gonna be a more individualistic relationship in second book or sharing is caring…
Cassidy Hart was with his partner Brian Laurent for five years, and he helped bring up his son. Cass had always had a love for Nicky, who is 20 years younger. Cass and Brian had an agreement that they could hook up with others as long as the other knew about it.
Nicky Laurent has always admired Cass and thought he was hot, but what could he do when he was involved with his dad. Nicky has just finished school and wants one last summer to enjoy before he starts college in the fall.
Cass and Sam (his best friend) started a business together straight from scratch and are now celebrating its success. They also hook up with each other when the need takes them, they love each other but are not in love with each other.
Nicky wants Cass to be his first love. Can Cass deny his beautiful boy anything, and just leave it as a one time thing, and can he still fool around with Sam and Nicky together?
Raquel Riley is a new to me author. I enjoyed the character descriptions and progress of the story. I love a good age gap romance, the steam in this is off the charts, please read the trigger warnings first. I am looking forward to Sam’s story.
