Months after the expedition through THE PORTAL, Tyler Drake is still struggling with the gruesome consequences. So the call for help from Mexico comes just in Adriana's brother is missing – and seems to have made the journey alone to the world beyond the cave.
Another race against time begins – and this time the team has to contend with not only the dangers of an exotic world, but also with terrestrial adversaries and an extraterrestrial threat, the existence of which they never even suspected. Will they succeed in saving not just one boy, but an entire world?
Brandon Q. Morris is a physicist and space specialist. He has long been concerned with space issues, both professionally and privately and while he wanted to become an astronaut, he had to stay on Earth for a variety of reasons. He is particularly fascinated by the "what if” and through his books he aims to share compelling hard science fiction stories that could actually happen, and someday may happen. Morris is the author of several best-selling science fiction novels.
Tyler is still infected with the worms and they are giving him premonitions of bad things coming to Xibalba. Meanwhile Diego finds out more about the disappearance of his mother and sets out to find her or at least learn more about what ultimately happened to her... Someone is spying on the team...why and who do they work for?
This book is an entertaining and fun read but is lacking the peril of the first book (perhaps due to the been there already done that aspect of it). Nevertheless, the events do lead to more questions than answers (though we do find out the mum's fate and who is spying on them) and I look forward to the next installment to see what happens next.
Once again, great read. i really enjoyed the storyline and characters, and I loved the cliffhanger ending. Well, let's see how the series comes to an end. So far, so good
