Hey, did you know that the Kickstarter for Taker of the Third Path will be live from June 1 to June 30??
I have read more of this book than anyone else at this point, and it does deserve an actual review someday... but in the meantime: Taker is genuinely great. It's a fantasy romance with great world building, a nuanced character study of some fascinatingly fucked-up guys, a queer and trans story that doesn't shy away from heavy themes.
I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out what it reminds me of & the best I've got so far is Harrow the Ninth's nonlinear narrative and themes of grief/memory/haunting + the approach to the "chosen one" trope and prophecy, plus the (decidedly queer) relationship dynamics, from Robin Hobb's Elderlings books. Also, obviously, you'll probably like it if you liked Hierarchy of the Unseen (which I cowrote with Fell!)
I am obviously not unbiased here, but if you want to read a sample of the book for yourself, it'll be available on that Kickstarter link as soon as it goes live :)
