From the bestselling author of Christmas in Snow Falls comes a heartwarming read that's perfect for fans of Jenny Hale, Sheila Roberts, Debbie Macomber, and Jill Shalvis.
In the heart of Star Valley, Wyoming, Emma Harper's love for literature and ice cream collide. "The Milky Way" is not just a struggling dairy and ice cream store; it's a testament to Emma's creativity and dedication as she crafts unique, book-inspired ice cream flavors that have become the talk of the town.
When famous romance novelist Liam Callahan arrives in Star Valley, seeking inspiration for his next book, he finds himself drawn to more than just Emma's literary knowledge and charm. As the two bond over their shared love of books and ice cream, they must navigate the challenges of a small town in crisis and the uncertainties of their own hearts.
A heartwarming reminder that with a little bit of creativity, a sprinkle of love, and a generous scoop of community support, even the most daunting challenges can be overcome.
Ok here's the deal. The premise of this book sounded really fantastic but the execution was mid. It reads like a book report or a show pitch. The first chapter uses the phrase "little do they know" at least twice. There doesn't seem to be a lot of research on the actual jobs the characters have so some of the experiences fall flat because they just aren't relatable. I really tried but could not get over the slightly lazy execution.

Not my usual genre, but the plot of an ice cream store drew me in. It didn't disappoint! This is a perfect summer read. Its got books, ice cream, a budding love, small town. I esp loved reading about the different mixtures they came up with.
I would never recommend this book. There is no actual storyline, Emma works at her family ice cream shop creating a literary inspired ice creams and here comes Liam, a famous romance novel author. They have no chemistry or whatsoever, I had to dnf in chapter 6. Please don’t read it

When I read the description for this book I knew I had to read it, as a fellow ice cream lover and a bookworm, this sounded right up my alley.
Emma and Liam's story starts with books of course! They meet at the local library after reaching for the same book, talk about a fitting meet-cute! Emma runs her family's ice cream shop, but she has made it her own by creating ice cream flavors that are reminiscent of the classic stories she loves to read. Liam is an author who's been struggling with writer's block, so he decides to take a trip to a small town. On his first day he meets Emma at the library, then is whisked away into the world of storytelling ice cream.
I want to start off with what I loved. I loved the ingenuity that this author took with coming up with Emma's ice cream shop. Not only did this author have to come up with the shop's name, they also had to come up with each individual flavor that was being so intricately described. Reading about Emma's book inspired ice cream made me wish that a place like that existed.
Now into what made me rate this a bit lower... Firstly the POV made it really challenging for me to connect to any of the characters. It was written with a narrator's perspective, which I wasn't a fan of. The next thing I struggled with was I didn't feel any chemistry between these two characters. While they do share a love of books, there wasn't much relationship building that happened in this book. I know that this is a shorter story but I expected a bit more romance. Overall, a cute and creative story.
The Sundae Girl, written by Cassidy Berg, was my introduction to this author. I was in the mood for a short, cozy romance, and I got just that!
Emma Harper lives in the heart of Star Valley, Wyoming. This book nerd (like me!) absolutely loves literature, and she loves working at her family’s business, The Milky Way. Emma is the creative genius behind the literary-inspired ice cream flavors that are a hit with her community. Even though the ice cream shop is popular in their small community, Emma and her family are at risk of losing it all.
Liam Callaham, a popular novelist, arrives in Star Valley seeking inspiration for his next book. Venturing into the library, he meets the beautiful Emma while looking through the wonderful book titles. The two bound over their love of books and, soon, the tasty creations that Emma invites him to taste.
This is an adorable, sweet, and cozy romance with small-town vibes. While Liam and Emma were clearly attracted to each other, I just did not feel the chemistry. Perhaps it was just the way the book was written. I loved the creative names and the ice cream flavors - I would love to visit a place like this!
Thank you to Cassidy Berg for gifting me an eARC of The Sundae Girl. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is Emma and Liam’s story. Emma’s family owns a small-town ice cream parlor that she runs. It’s a theme based on literature which brings Liam into the shop. Liam is a successful romance author and quickly intrigued by the shop and Emma. Their romance blossoms and they work together to help her family farm and the shop flourish.
This is 3 ½ stars rounded up to 4 because I liked the originality of the premise. It’s not my usual genre but I enjoyed it and sometimes you need a break from the heavy reads. It’s a very sweet, easy to read, quick story. There’s low angst and no 3rd act breakup. A fun cozy romance.
The Sundae Girl by Cassidy Berg is a cute, quick, sweet read. The story follows Emma Harper and her journey to find her happily ever after and her journey to save her families ice cream store and farm.
Emma meets Liam, a writer who just came to town to find some inspiration, but he finds more than that. He finds love, understanding, and his own happily ever after.
If there was anything I'd change, I'd love some more depth to the story, but it is a cute read!
Although this was a clean, sweet small town romance, I did not fully feel the chemistry between the main character and the cute nerdy secondary character. The blend of book titles and the creative ice-cream artistry was beautiful and added so much value to the story and Emma's passion and drive at The Milky Way; I honestly thought this was clever and brilliant.
A nice quick read with cozy hometown vibes. I would have loved a first person pov or a little more depth into the story and feelings, but overall it’s a nice clean and cute summer romance! The concept of a literary themed ice cream shop was so cute! The flavors seemed so good, it made me go eat some.
This was a cute fluffy read and I enjoyed it. This one read more like a short story though and I would have loved to see Emma and Liam's relationship more fleshed out. It felt very instalove for me as it stood. I just didn't feel as connected to the characters as I would've liked.
This was really sweet and heartwarming. The ice cream flavors sounded so good and I wish I could taste them. It did take me a bit to get used to the writing since I typically don't read books in this style. I enjoyed this book though.
This book has a very comforting and touching story; however, the language is far too repetitive. I believe this book could have been much better if so many of the same sentiments were not repeated over and over- often in the same words and phrases.
The descriptions of the characters were very repetitive an continued to repeat themselves all the way to the final chapter. Though the story was sweet, the repetitive descriptions meant I struggled to keep track of the actual plot.
Read this as an ARC. It was really repetitive with little innovation. The male character was like a side-story with no real depth. All in all, quick read but poorly executed.
Suelen gustarme las historias con final feliz. He leído novelas que su misma simpleza la hace agradable a quien la lee. Pero este libro me ha costado. Es una historia sin atractivo, simple, boba. Todo es color de rosa. No la recomiendo.
I usually like stories with a happy ending. I have read novels whose very simplicity makes them pleasant to those who read them. But this book cost me. It is an unattractive, simple, silly story. Everything is rosy. I don't recommend it.
