West Greer - Guerra.

Dicono che la violenza non è mai la risposta.
Mi permetto di dissentire. Non c'è pace senza un po' di dolore.
Drake, Prescott, Francis e io siamo dei mostri all'altezza del nostro nome.
I quattro cavalieri.
Dèi reincarnati in uomini.

Series Review:
I usually do not take the time to write a review. But I make an exception for when a book has impacted me so deeply that it brought me to tears (because I never cry).
And I am making an exception for this series.
Because I have never been so disappointed, annoyed and disgusted with a piece of “literature” (if we can even call it that) in my life.

I want to first state that my displeasure with this series has nothing to do with it being a dark romance or it being reverse harem. One of my favorite series is The Ravenhood which is also multiple partners. While knife and blood play are not my thing at all, that is not the issue.

My complaint is based on the fact that this was SO poorly written!!! There is absolutely no plot. No details. No secondary characters. No rhyme or reason to the characters motives or actions and I found it IMPOSSIBLE to connect with any of the 5 people featured in this book. And it was IMPOSSIBLE to understand their connection to each other. While the concept of 5 POVs seems like a dream because you can get into everyone’s head… it was executed so poorly and I felt like I was reading the same exact POV because their internal monologue across all 5 MCs were the same, just a different name slapped on it. They all describe the world the same way and they all use the same exact phrases when expressing themselves. Not to mention that each book is dedicated to one horseman and we probably spend more time in everyone else’s POV. Like it makes no sense to have it be West’ book but we keep spending time with Francis. This should have been written as a third person POV.

And what is more this could have been one long book AT MAX 2. Literally the first two books is just everyone saying the same thing over and over again while saying nothing at all. We have no idea what happened with Scarlett, or what she is doing for the horsemen, ( ask me what they do for work right now and I couldn’t tell you. It’s just “finance” and that’s funny because their “empire” was all part of their scheme to get her back but that is never explained. Like wth does finance have to do with your enemy. Make it make sense). We learned nothing of their history or why they are so attached to her, we don’t understand what their plan is for her. The entire first two books is us just standing around talking about amber eyes, indigo eyes, hazel-green eyes, having extreme, repetitive sex, and talking about how Scarlett had been taken away but she belong to them. She belong to them. She belong to them. She belong to them. She was taken away and she belonged to them….( has that sunk in yet for you or do you need me to tell it to you again?? You know what I’ll do what the author does and say it for the people in the back). SHE WAS TAKEN AWAY AND SHE BELONGED TO THEM.

The author has a unique way of using words over and over and over again like her vocabulary bank was limited and she had no idea how to create the scene. I have become utterly disgusted with words like “whilst” “lamb” “wisp” “ours” “yours” “mine” “I need you” because those seem to be the only words the characters know how to say. Overall it was poorly written. Here is a non-spoiler example of how the entire book is written : “She was still dressed in a sleep shirt and shorts, so hadn’t got ready for the day yet” ( me while reading oh wow being in her pjs meant she hadn’t gotten ready yet 🤯). Or there is this artistic sentence : “I don’t know what it was about her, or maybe I did” (profound).

And then there is the killings. If you’re gonna kill people and you are going to tell me they deserved it. Make me feel the hatred for them. Killing people Willy nilly for the most thinly veiled “offenses” and then just saying “they deserved it” is not enough, because I’m going to be honest. No one deserved any of the deaths handed out over the course of this series. Some of them were straight up ridiculous and laughable. One victims knew her death was coming and was stomping around like a 2year old having a tantrum saying she was inconvenienced by her impending death. HOW IS THAT AN EVEN REMOTELY REALISTIC RESPONSE????!!! America explain!!

Book three finally gives some answers and even those answers are just surface level. And book four was literally ridiculous. In the end. I sided with Stuart, who was the enemy of the entire series. Stuart deserved better. I don’t condone kidnapping or abuse ever but he was the only one with a motive behind his actions that I could kind of sort of understand.

So if you are into books with absolutely no conversation and no plot and a lot of repetition and sex scenes every 2 seconds ( too many slices) with amazing seduction scene consisting of “ I need you” “Don’t stop” “You’re mine” (I kid you not she says that for every guy every time)
Then I highly recommend this series

This book picks up right where Carnage left off. With Scarlett having to make a huge decision. Kill her only friend in the world for the Horseman's protection and access to pretty much their whole world. Or to kick rocks, essentially.

On one hand Scarlett has to fulfill a duty bestowed upon her by her shitty ass parents... Oooon the other hand she is getting bomb ass sex from 4 men from her past, who are all secretly in love with her and only want her to remember who she is and who they are. What to do, what to do?!

This book is filled with action, an by action I mean SPICE. Like holy hell. 100% this is definitely a book that its porn with plot, and you know what?... I am here for it! Sarah is a dirty, filthy bird and I absolutely love it. Also you would never know looking at her! Those adorable cheeks and glasses! Sarah's hiding a freak inside her heart! And please don't ever change!<3

Anywho, this book and series in general so far is shrouded in mystery. We still have no idea how Scarlett lost her memory or why her parents want revenge on the Horseman, or why Scarlett is essentially a sleeper agent. But we got two books left and my guess is they are gonna be fucking bat shit crazy incredible!

If you love reverse harem, well written/kitty throbbing spice, and mystery upon mystery this is definitely gonna be the series for you! What are you waiting for! Read this! And makes sure to lay a towel down!

★DNF 43%! THE REPETITIVENESS OMFG!! These characters give me whiplash honestly, one second the men hate her thennn love her and don’t want to hurt her BUT continue to hurt her?? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

I wouldn’t even mind if they said ‘I don’t want to hurt her’ but then did but it’s the fact they’re all nice and loving one chapter, going out of their way to do things for her and then next chapter it’s as if that never happened?!?!

AND THE FMC AHH SO SO ANNOYING! Just no I hate this, was hoping it would get better from book one yet series just got worse along with the characters.

Give me Waaaar 👀

This is the second book in the Four Horseman series and boy, it did not disappoint. It was phenomenal 🥵. Everything from the character development, the plot thickening and THE SPICE, it was so hard to put down.

This book is West's book AKA our boy War. Getting inside of his brain more gave me goosebumps. He is such a complex character who I adore. Even though he is a bit of a  psycho.

I enjoyed everything about this book. Sarah's writing had me laughing, feeling emotional, and on the edge of my seat. Not to mention all the kitty butterflies. I felt like I was living in this world she has created. I love a book with some great detail and Sarah never fails, always giving the reader all the details we crave. All around highly impressed by the second installment of the series.

Oh and, can we take a moment to appreciate aftercare? It's not always something written about much in books and when it is it's not always detailed. Our boys, as crazy and fucked up as they may be, never fail to take great care of Scar after their shenanigans, and Sarah gives us the details that just soothe my soul to read about. I mean we love a man who can get rough and dirty but one who can take control and take care of his woman afterwards? Yes, we need more of that 🙌🏻. It's another reason why I love this series so much.

Anyways, the cliffhanger just about killed me and now I will be counting down the days until the release of Corrode. So thank you Sarah for the ARC and I will now be slowly dying until the next one.💀

Plotless

I enjoyed the first book and was looking forward to the second book giving us some answers. This book has NO answers. Nothing happens. Scarlett doesn’t remember, we don’t know why the horsemen and Stuart hate each other, we don’t know why Stuart would send someone they know to spy on them, we don’t know anything. At all. This book feels like one of those series where the author hasn’t figured out the plot yet but keeps writing anyway and so nothing moves forward.

I gave it two stars because I liked West and the spicy scenes. But honestly even those were getting on my nerves (which as a lover of explicit romance, is saying something) because I just wanted the book to get to the point.

Book 2 picks up straight away from Carnage (book 1) and it has us reading about Scarlett and her having to make sure a hard decision.
There's so many great elements to this book, secrets, suspense, passion, spice and the fact that this book was unputdownable.
We go into West and Scarlett's history a bit more, and I was so not ready for it.
Her relationship with each of her boys is so addicting, seriously this series is becoming one of my favourite of the year so far, and we haven't even finished the series yet.
*Please note this is Dark Romance and has triggers*

“The dark is alluring,” she whispered. “And the men who live in it even more so.”

Y’all, I know we only have two books so far but this series is making its way to one of my favorite reverse harems I’ve read in a long time.

This book just made me fall deeper in love with all four of our horsemen.

The love these men have for Scarlett but can’t show her is heartbreaking in the best way.
My favorite part of this series so far is reading from the guys POV and getting to know the thoughts that they can’t share with her, everything they want to say but know they can’t.
Like the straight up devotion these men have for Scarlett, even when she doesn’t have a clue, is everything.

Sarah KILLS the spice in this. It’s spicy as hell and we have more of our men’s kinks trickling into the story and it’s so excellent.

And Sarah gave me something I didn’t know I was missing in my dark romance and that is AFTERCARE. As rough as they can be on their girl, they know how to take care of her after and it adds so much to their relationship development.

In this book we get to know all our men a little better. We get to see darker sides of some of our sweeter men, sweeter sides of our darker men and I’m obsessed with all of them.

We get some flashbacks and we finally get some answers before Sarah kills us again with one hell of a cliffhanger and I can’t wait for the next book.
Seriously Corrode can’t come soon enough.

Check trigger warnings and prepare for a cliffhanger but it is so worth it!

Still salty about the whole manwhores thing but I'm here for the smut soooooo🤷🏻‍♀️ Also I DO NOT like the whole Francis/Chelsea drama. Why tf did he care for another girl (eventhough he didn't love her or anything, just felt a connection to her) other than Scarlett huh???? Drake's number one, then Prescott, then West (yes even the walking talking STD comes before Francis soz) and last is Francis.

Ughhh. This whole secrecy shit is gonna kill me with how long it’s taking to get answers.
Once again, the smut is fantastic but also emotionally taxing because of all the secrets.
If this next book doesn’t have answers I’m gonna scream.

Before I start my review I would like to say that this book is the second installment in the Four Horseman series and does end in another cliffhanger. Please tread lightly if you have triggers, because this series is dark and has them.

Sarah gives all the proof needed as to why she is my favorite author with this second installment of the Four Horsemen series. This amazingly talented wordsmith pulled me in deeper into her world easily and I inhaled this novel in one day.
Scarlett continues to blow me away with her ways of dealing with everything. This young woman has a TON on her plate, dealing with her amnesia along with what her father set her free to do. She is coming into her own more in this one though with (not so gentle) pushes from West, Francis, Pres, and Drake.
I got more glimpses of the inner psyches of my sweet psycho (West - oh yes, he’s mine 🤣), kinky voyeur (Pres), bloodthirsty Dom (Drake) and experienced with edging and Shibari quiet one (Francis) - their inner battles with having their Scar back, not being able to trust her and loving her constantly had my emotions in an uprise.
As few questions were answered more came to light and Sarah cranked the suspense up even more. Don’t even get me started on the steam - this lady wrote scenes that were not only f**king hot but so full of raw emotion, I found myself at loss for words while my thighs were clenched. You could feel the words that didn’t even have to be said between these characters. This is raw, gritty, dark, and delicious series that I can’t get enough of. I am dying from the cliffhanger that this Queen ended with and am highly anticipating the next book.

The smut in here is 10/10 it truly slaps. But we’re now two thick books deep into the series with barely any answers for the plot, only a lot of vague references to the past and motives. At this point I need answers to some shit to get this plot actually moving along.

But I keep going because frankly this series is hot and Sarah Bailey knows how to write hot shit.

SARAH DID IT AGAIN! I loved Carnage but I'm obsessed with Chaos!

This book picks up right after the Carnage ending and started with a BAAM and a PLOT TWIST that had my jaw hitting the floor.

If you have read Carnage, you know it ends with Scar needing to make a decision: kill her only "friend" Mason and gain the horsemen protection, or walk away and never see the guys again. Given the events that take place, Scar is pissed at the guys for the first part of the book. You can see how each deal with Scar's pissed off attitude, but Pres is the one that feels guilty the most and is worried she won't be able to forgive her. Why is she mostly pissed at Pres you ask? Well because she felt a connection with him the most in book 1, so naturally she thinks he doesn't care at all about her. As the book progresses, they work things out and are fine by the end of the book.

"I hate what you made me do. I hate it so much, Pres. You stained my fucking soul and you don’t even care.”
“I do care, sweetness. I care a great fucking deal about you.”
Fuck, little lamb, I love you. I’m fucking well in love with you.
She shook her head, tears slipping down her cheeks.
“You only care about how you can use me.”

Talk about the feels!!! Since she's pissed off at all of them and she sees Francis as the "lesser evil", she get's closer to him and this allows us to get a deeper understanding to his character and his feelings towards Scar and the whole situation they are in. He's sweet and understanding with her and shows her a side of him we did not get to explore in book 1. I absolutely loved his character development and can't wait to see more of him in the next two books.

From book 1, West showed us exactly who he is and that is a crazy unhinged mf. In this book he still crazy but, out of all of them, I believe he's the one with more character development. He did some crazy things but we also got a little bit more of his POV and the sweet/gentle side of him. So many instances that show how much he cares!. At least we got to see his feelings for Scar in a deeper level. I love him!! The last few chapters with him and Scar had my heart aching! I just absolutely love him.

“It’s okay, Scar, I won’t punish you for your little outburst,” I murmured. “It’s cute really, you worrying I might stray.” Her mouth dropped open. “Excuse me?” she hissed a moment later. My hand went to her cheek, brushing her jaw with gentle care I never usually used. “My interests are with you and you alone, so you don’t need to be afraid.”

Now Drake, he pissed me off to no end in this book!! He was still stoic and cold during all of it! Scar (and me in the chapters that are not in his POV) think he doesn't care about her since he never shows his emotions. Pres and Francis push him to show her how he feels, and the only time he did, this got south way to fast and that made me even more pissed at him! Hopefully he redeems himself.

Plot wise:

Stuart (Scar's father) pushes Scar to make progress on the collecting information from the guys to bring them down and how conflicted she is. She doesn't want to hurt them, but at the same time she is scared out of her mind of his father. We knew from book 1 he abused her physically but never got details. Well we got details now! I seriously hate her parents, which are her adoptive parents, so much! Like they need to *unlive*. Francis and Scar's relationship gets outed to her father but he doesn't know she's with all of them. This makes me suspicious of why Mason didn't tell him about it when he does know what's going on.

We got a flashback from West POV on the events before the accident that gave us more information on the events that lead up to it.
We also got this piece of info related to it:

So WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED between the first thing that triggered the chain of events that led to the accident and how are the guys involved!? Sarah mentioned in her Live "Lets talk Chaos" what we will get all the answers in the next book. I need it ASAP!

Ok so let's talk about the ending and the cliffhanger because it's a massive one!! This one hurt me more than the last one tbh! West took Scar to a building site that she felt familiar with and felt wrong to her but she could't put a finger on the why it felt that way.

Ok so here comes my theories:

I have a feeling Scar got adopted by the time of the accident instead of young. Also, it was said in the book she understood Pres childhood with his absentee father, so I'm guessing her biological parents were absent in her live too and somehow she got adopted after the accident as a revenge to the guys for something we don't yet know, which will make the "they took her away from us" sense.

Mason was part of the tragic thing that happened to Scar that let up to the accident. Backup:

Last but not least, I believe that somehow the guys lured the people involved in the event with Scar to the building and

Overall I ABSOLUTLEY LOVED this book and are counting down the days until we get book 3. West and Pres are my Fave! But Friancis could make the list in the next books and so far I kinda hate Drake.

Wow just... Wow. This is the second book in the series featuring four violent and possessive men who are only softened by the presence of their fifth.
I thought the first book blew my mind but this one just continues the assault actually decimating it.
Each have their secret weakness which just happens to be Scarlet...the woman they can't trust but will love.
Parts of her memories slowly reveal causing her to feel familiarity in these men.
In their world of carnage and chaos, she is still their light in the darkness guiding them home.
They each like to play with her to some extent but they hope some of the mind games will bring her fully back to them.
This is literally my favourite set of books I've read in the last five years.
I can't explain the emotional rollercoaster you will experience during this read wondering how they can be the way they are.
This author is unique with this creative and rich imagined world where nothing is taboo and little is forbidden.
Such talented writing I have honestly never seen before and I would consider myself quite the bookworm.
I simply can't get enough of these men and would take Scarlet's position in a heartbeat.
These cliffhangers are killing me in such a way that my heart can't deal with waiting so long until it gets that shot of adrenaline again.
I am truly blessed I happened to come across this wonderful author and the gifts bestowed upon us.
A master of the dark romance genre in my opinion with the perfect pace and addictive heart pounding drama.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sarah Bailey has me addicted to this series! I've never been a huge RH fan but the dark elements and suspense really have me loving this series.

This is book 2 in the Four Horsemen series and you definitely have to read them in order as this is an ongoing series.

There are so many things I liked about this book.
- The roof scene with Drake. I loved seeing his softer side and hope we get more of this side of him.

- I love watching Scarlett come into her own, find her footing with these guys and learn to work them, and stand up to them when necessary.
- I love the guys. They work so well as a unit but they retain their individual personalities and characteristics.
- I love that each guy has his own proclivities and perversions. I love that the author is exploring the different ones, pushing boundaries with the sexual aspect of the story. I hope this continues because I'm DYING for a scene dealing with Prescott's Predator/prey kink!

- sex scenes that will melt your kindle.

That being said, one of the things that did bother me just a little is that the story seemed to take second place to the sex with this book. It's book 2 and yet I don't feel like I know much more now than I did at the end of book 1 in regards to what happened in the past. I don't feel like we learned a great deal more about the guys personally or about what happened when they were 16. I do wish there was a bit more balance in that regard.

All in all, I am loving this ride and I cannot wait to read book 3 especially with the ending of book 2!

I am breathless and astonished. This is unputdownable. Book 2 of the Four Horsemen takes up where book 1 left us. Scarlet is now living with the four men her adoptive father has charged her to help destroy and she is becoming more and more emotionally tied to them, whatever they do to others, to her, to each other.
But, forget the four amazingly hot men and the incredibly steamy sex scenes; this story goes way beyond that (as wonderful as that side is). The intrigue, the mystery, the danger and the passion are what make this book so outstanding. Incredibly careful plotting, hints about the past dropped with just enough force to leave the reader wanting more, and despite the curious natures of the five protagonists, enough sympathy to have us rooting for an HEA (too far in the future! I can't wait!)

Chaos. War. WEST.

West will make you fall even more in love with him throughout this book! You really get to experience the inner thoughts and feelings of all the guys. We learn a little more about what happened to Scarlett, but just enough to make you come back to read the next one!

What will Scarlett do about everything in the next book? I CANNOT WAIT!!!

Thank you Sarah Bailey for creating such hated and lovable people!

Just as amazing (and spicy) as the first one in the series!

I was also so happy to finally get some revelations at the end of the book! The plot has instantly became a lot clearer now and I had just to go straight on to book three...

I can see this becoming a new favourite dark RH series of mine!

I got an ARC of this book. This was so good! The SPICE!!! 🥵🥵🥵 It does not disappoint. The plot keeps you engaged. I already had a favorite in Pres and it has been solidified in this book. I fell in love with Francis and West 😍 I’ve warmed more on Drake too. I love how each relationship with Scar progresses at a different rate.

The cliffhanger 😩

Scarlett and her men are back in book two of the four horsemen series. Scarlett is struggling between doing as her father wishes or protecting the men. The men want her to remember her past and remember them without forcing her. But things may not turn out as everyone planned.

Book two is even better than the first. Now that everyone has been together, there isn't much hesitation to be together again. Scarlett is still trying to figure them all out and why she feels the way she does for them.
Her relationships with Drake is probably the worst one. Despite West's insanity with some situations, he treats her well and doesn't hide himself. Drake treats her the worst and it doesn't seem like he really has much of a connection to her. Francis surprised me in the best way with his kinks. The author did more with his character this book than previously, and it adds immensely to the story.

The story is getting intense, but we still haven't gotten many details about Scarlett's father, her accident or what the guys know. We are nearly in the same spot as book one, but the ending to this one will hopefully lead the way to more details in the next book.
