I was really surprised with how much I liked this book. I have never before read anything by Joan Kilby and that can always be a risk. I am so glad that I took the chance though because it really paid off with Mad About You. I really liked the characters, and I loved the friends to lovers trope. This book was just one of those really great romance stories that you find so cute and adorable that you can't help but become lost in it. I think what made this one so great for me was the fact that the two main characters had known each other almost their whole lives and the fact that they were so real and normal. I was able to relate to them and I was really invested in their HEA from the start.

When Cassy's best friend Scott asks for her help, she will do just about anything she can for him. They have been best friends since they were kids, and they have always been there for each other. Cassy is an accountant still living in the small town they grew up in, and although she is bored with her job of doing taxes she is comfortable with her life except when it comes to Scott. They have always been friends, but Cassy has also been in love with him for forever. She tried to kiss him one time and he ignored her for a few weeks after, then pretended that it never happened. She would rather have him as a friend than nothing at all. After Scott asks her to drop everything and move in with him to help him get the financial support he needs, she reluctantly agrees. But the minute that she arrives, they both feel as though their relationship is changing. Suddenly Scott is also experiencing the attraction between them and is more confused than ever. In order to keep the women away from Scott while he focuses on his work, Cassy and Scott come up with a fake engagement between them. When the passion ignites between them, they both decide to give in and enjoy each other while they can. But with their feelings growing stronger than ever and the new physical aspect of their relationship, can their friendship possibly survive? What happens when both of them start to wonder about a future together for real rather than just the fake relationship that it started off as?

I will admit that it was hard for me to connect with Scott right away. He was awkward and a bit cold feeling. It seemed like he was almost indifferent to Cassy at first and as though he had truly never seen her as anything other than his best friend. But as the story went on he really grew on me. He was geeky and adorable and his awkwardness became something that I actually really liked about him. It isn't often in a hero that you find a really successful and handsome man that is so nerdy and hasn't a clue about women. I liked that we got to see how confused he was and that he really had thought of Cassy as more than a friend. He was so afraid of losing her that he had never taken a chance on anything with her. I really liked Cassy. I loved that she didn't judge him and that she accepted him as he was. She looked out for him and you could tell that she would truly do anything for him, even if she knew that it would upset him at first. She really was a great friend and she knew him better than he even knew himself. I liked that she held out for him and wouldn't settle for a relationship with him that was just about their friendship or sex. The connection and bond that Scott and Cassy had was so deep and real because they had known each other all their lives. I loved that they were best friends, and really they were all that each other had. Their bond was undeniable and I really believed it from the start. They also had great chemistry together and I loved seeing them as they navigated their way from friends to lovers. I also loved that Scott was nerdy and adorable but then he was completely different when he was in bed with her. He had a whole other side to him that was really sexy.

Overall, this was a great quick and sweet read. I loved that there was no cliffhanger and no angst. This book was just one of those ones that you can sit and relax while reading and once you finish you are left feeling happy and satisfied. Scott might have taken a bit for me to warm up to, but I really ended up liking him and Cassy. They were great together personally, and I also loved that they were such a great partnership and team. I liked seeing just how well they knew each other and were able to turn such a great friendship into more. I also really enjoyed the parts with the geek techies. They were so fun and I liked watching them interact with Cassy. This book is one I would highly recommend to those looking for something short and sweet with a great HEA. I really enjoyed this story from start to finish and I look forward to reading more from Joan Kilby in the future.

Cassy and Scott have been best friends for most of their lives, so when Scott calls her to ask for help she is not going to turn him down. Cassy packs up and heads to Seattle to help him find funding for his latest project. However, her role takes a turn and she ends up becoming his fake fiancé to help ward off women and help him concentrate on achieving his dream. What Scott doesn’t realize is that she has been in love with him since they were teenagers and this fake arrangement may end up having a devastating effect on her heart.
When a potential investor invites them to spend the weekend at a nearby lodge to present their idea, Cassy hopes this will be her chance to make Scott see that she loves him as more than a friend. Scott doesn’t understand what he is feeling for Cassy. She has been the only true friend in his life and he is not ready to mess that up; however, it is getting harder to resist her. When the investor books them into the honeymoon suite as an early wedding present, things begin to heat up. Scott finally gives into his desires and begin a hot, steamy affair.
By the end of the weekend, the funding for Scott’s prototype is still up in the air and Cassy makes a decision that could end what they are just beginning. When they show up at the house of Scott’s estranged father, he is furious at her. She makes him listen and in the end it is one of the best decisions of his life. However, when his dad sends over the funding plans Scott realizes that his dad has no intention of including Cassy in the business, he wants to call the whole thing off. Instead of that happening, she makes the hardest decision of her life and leaves Scott so he can fulfill his dream.
Will Scott realize he is in love with Cassy before it is too late? Will he go after her and prove she means the world to him? In order to find out, you will need to get the book.
I truly enjoyed the book. Cassy was such a strong character that you couldn’t help but like her. She knew she was in love with Scott and risked getting hurt just to make sure he succeeds. She was so selfless, that you just wanted to shake Scott to make him open up his eyes and see what was right in front of him. Scott carried a lot of baggage from his past and didn’t believe he was able to truly love someone. When he finally realized he did love Cassy and would only ever love her I wanted to jump for joy! However, he was truly clueless on how to win her back. I loved the ending and I couldn’t be happier for them both. I was glad they got their HEA and I would love to get check-ins with them should there be another story about one of Scott’s friends and employee. What are you waiting for? Mad About you is a book that gave this geek-girl a happy heart. With the winning formula of best friends to lovers, it was a sexy, passionate, fun, believable and heartfelt romantic treat.

Cassy and Scott have been best friends since they were seven. Twenty or so years later, she's living in their hometown with her fish and plodding along as an accountant wishing for more, whilst he's the big-city penthouse living multi-millionaire technological genius. When he needs help in finding an investor for his latest revolutionary development there is only one woman he turns to. And, with a little persuasion, she grabs the opportunity because deep down, this beauty loves the geek...

I adored them both and their relationship, both before and after crossing the line, surprised me. They understand each other, complement each other, have a wonderful chemistry and a lifetime of pent-up feelings, but as brilliant as Scott is at what he does, he is clueless when it comes to the ladies and this is where Cassy came into her own. She's strong, sassy, knows Scott better in some respects than he knows himself and unleashes the man who had me swooning and sighing.

If you're after a feel-good sexy romance then this is one I'd definitely recommend.

Mad About You has one of the tropes I enjoy the most in contemporary romances - the friends to lovers trope... However, I never connected as much to Cassy and Scott as I thought I would.

So I was really looking forward to this one, because I’m a sucker for the friends-turned-lovers stories and this sounded right up my alley! Scott and Cassy were dear friends, they lived apart but were always in touch, they shared everything, he was calling her because he needed her…yeah, it was all in the recipe for an emotional and sexy read! But with some bitter baggage for Scott and uncertainty about Cassy’s future, there were some murky waters to get through first.

Cassy was the perfect heroine for this story, confident in her friendship with Scott but a fish out of water when it came to actually doing something about her attraction to him. She was cute, sassy, and determined to be there for him, and it was exactly what he needed to snap him out of his denial. Scott’s personality didn’t impress quite as much in my opinion, I felt like he was too cold at points. But I liked what Cassy brought out in him. He was so engrossed in his work that Cassy’s presence was almost like this blazing siren call in the night. He was perfectly content with things the way they were, but when the idea of something more with his best friend was laid out in front of him he was walking around in a stupor when it came to her! They had to work closely to get Scott’s Dreamcatcher product the attention it needed if they were going to find an investor; Cassy having to pretend she was his woman in an effort to keep the others at bay just thrust them into a situation where all of that close and personal time was bound to wreak havoc on their relationship. And they were all kinds of hot together! Even their first kiss had my heart racing when Scott uttered his “God help me” right before ravishing her lips!

With some drama over Scott’s past and some heartache as uncertainty plagued their situation, there is plenty going on here at every moment to keep the reader hooked. A highly enjoyable read by Joan Kilby!

Quotes:

Oh. The shock of his warm, firm lips on hers was electric. She softened, clinging to his shoulders, kneading his tense muscles beneath her palms. He started to ease back, his eyes confused and dark. With a low moan, she pulled him back in. ~p. 32

Was she trying to drive him crazy? Then he saw the smile playing around her lips. For God’s sake! She must be teasing him again. He should teach her a lesson about playing with fire, except that he would likely be the one to get burned. ~p. 34

This was what he’d been afraid of for years, that the day would come when work and other women and masturbating wouldn’t be enough for him. When he would need Cassy, and Cassy alone. When no one, and nothing else, would satisfy him.~p. 70

My Review:
Do you love a good sexy, nerd story? If so, you need to read this book. I liked it.

Scott and Cassy have been best friends forever. He's a brilliant scientist. She's an accountant. Scott is in the process of developing a ground-breaking nano technology that could mean everything for him in business and technology. The issue...it's almost ready to go, but he doesn't have the funding to produce his product...and the competition is breathing down his neck trying to steal his invention out from underneath him. His solution...call Cassy for help. She's smart, she's savvy, and she's more socially graceful than him which is important as he's trying to woo an investor.

For Cassy, she needs the boost. She's been running her own accounting company for a while and is admittedly very bored. She's excited about the challenges Scott's company could provide...the one catch, working so closely with Scott since she's in love with him.

There was a lot more to this story than I expected. It's a friends to lovers trope which I adore, but the problem with becoming involved with your best friend is that they already know you and your needs... at least they think they do. I had to giggle at the beginning of the romance when Scott would do something that Cassy has always suggested he do for girls, but then she would get ticked off because she knew the reasons she would suggest he do those things...like give wildflowers when you're trying to let a girl down easy. Scott is incredibly smart, but when it comes to women, he's clueless. Before now, he's always gone to Cassy for advice. He can't do that now and he's floundering.

But in other ways, that intimate knowledge of each other worked to strengthen them too. When it came to Scott's father, Cassy could see past all Scott's bluster and anger to the vulnerability below. I loved that depth of knowledge. A new relationship wouldn't be able to spot those emotions and would have just been hurt by the anger. That's why I love friends to lovers stories and this one was a fun one. I liked the whole business aspect and what the two of them are trying to do with Scott's company. I wasn't sure how it was all going to turn out, but in the end it worked and worked well. This was definitely a winner in my opinion.

Mad About You

Accountant Cassy Morris knows she’s putting her heart on the line when she agrees to move in with her best friend, multi-millionaire geek Scott Thornton while she manages his nanotechnology lab and finds an angel investor for his revolutionary new product. She’s loved him forever even though he’s only ever regarded her as a friend. But Cassy never could refuse Scott anything...

When Scott is named Seattle’s sexiest man, the attention from women threatens to get in the way of him finishing his pet project and putting it on the market. Cassy steps up once again and pretends to be his fiancé. A lifetime of repressed sexual tension explodes in a passionate affair. Soon Scott is wondering how he can convince Cassy to turn their fake engagement into reality...

Review:

This is a wonderful friends to lovers story!

Cassy and Scott have been friends since they were 7 years old, when Scott got left at his Aunt and Uncles house following the death of his mother. Years later, Scott is a gorgeous, geeky millionaire, who begs his best friend Cassy to come and help him get his nano product into the market and find investors. Cassy sees this a the perfect opportunity to see if maybe this can lead to more between the two of them.

I really enjoyed tension as they both fight to keep their best friend and keep from getting hurt when things escalate between Cassy and Scott sexually and emotionally. There are lots of obstacles for the pair to overcome and not just about their feelings about each other. Scott has issues because of his being left by his father which come to a head when he comes forward as a investor. The scenes between father and son were great and full of emotion. Cassy and Scott have fought/hidden their feelings about each other for so long that there are a lot of missteps and hurt feelings before they overcome and get their HEA. Now, it is not all emotion, there are some fun scenes and the intimate scenes between Cassy and Scott are super hot!

Great writing and characters that I could relate to made this an enjoyable read!

In Mad About You, Cassy Morris gets an SOS call from one of her dearest childhood friends, Scott Thornton. Scott is described as a hot geek, who is set to have his nanotechnology company skyrocket him to stardom, if another company doesn't get their first. He needs Cassy's help. Since she has the flexibility being the her own boss(tax accountant)she sets out to help him. The problem is she has not seen him in over a year, and in that time he has only gotten better. It doesn't help that she always had a crush on him and her past attempt letting him know failed miserably.

The story moves quickly once Cassy gets out to Washington and these friends quickly go from working roomates to fabricated engaged couple. What is problematic is Cassy wants to believe the lie but feels Scott just doesn't see her that way. We learn though, that Scott struggles with his feelings for Cassy too, but because of old demons from being abandoned by his father, he just doesn't see himself in a relationship and he doesn't want to lose his best friend. Well you know what they say about best laid plans.

I found the story to be a quick read as it only took me a few hours to finish. While I am typically a huge fan of stories which develop relationships among childhood friends, this one just fell a little short for me. I didn't really feel the emotional connection with the characters throughout the story. There were brief glimpses when they recounted tales of their first kiss or how Scott fell in love with Cassy but that was it. The most emotion provoking part for me was when Scott shared his dream with Cassy. That I loved, but then the story was over and unfortunately it just wasn't enough for me.

Cassy has been in love with Scott for as long as she can remember. She has always been there for him in anyway he needed. She stood by him through the countless girlfriends and she will stand by him now. His invention idea has been stolen and it's up to her to help him sell it before the competition does. With his invention on the line he doesn't have time for woman to throw themselves at him so Cassy decides to pretend to be his fiance. What started out as a sham to protect him turns into so much more and now she doesn't who's acting anymore.

Scott has always known that if he ever needs someone he can trust be can call Cassy. She has been the only reliable person in his life so when someone steals him invention idea it seemed reasonable to call her to help him. What he didn't expect was his new found attraction for his best friend. He thought if he ignored it that it would go away, but she isn't having any of that. He couldn't control himself and he crossed a line. Now he has to figure out how to convince her that he really wants to be with her while selling his invention.

I loved this book so much. This book demands your attention from the very first page to the very last. I loved that Cassy and Scott had preexisting history, and the struggles they face with trying to change their relationship into a romantic one. I really have nothing bad to say about this book, it met my every expectation with flying colors. All readers should definitely consider reading this book.

Mad About You was a quick, cute read that takes one of my favorite plots (the best friends to lovers) and gives it a different twist. Take geeky-hot Scott who needs help financing his new invention and add his best friend Cassy who is bored in her life and looking for more. Sparks start to fly as soon as they are reunited after a year.

Mad About You was my first book by Joan Kilby and I will be on the look out for more from her in the future. I liked that the book didn't take the expected or predictable and even surprised me at times. Cassy was fiery and willing to do whatever it takes to help out her friend and Scott was just a mess trying to juggle so many things in the air while fighting his attraction to Cassy.

Even though I enjoyed the story there were some things that threw me out of getting completely swept away and I really wish we could have had more. More background on the characters and more interactions with Cassy and Scott (and less about his invention/financing struggles) would have helped me connect with the characters. I think there was too much trying to go on in 140+ pages and it seemed to run out of steam at the end (except the Epilogue was wonderful and I loved it) and I found myself with a lot of questions at the end that I didn't get answered.

Mad About You would be a good book to grab when you want a quick and easy to read book that will get your mind off real life for a few hours.

This was a great read. It's a difficult transition to try and go from best friends to admitting that you're in love. Cassy and Scott have been best friends since they were seven years old. Scott is now a successful entrepreneur and needs his best friend to help him get things ready for the last step for the release of his new technology. Cassy is only too happy to help Scott get things ready to go. There are a lot of things that happen, and Cassy and Scott finally take a step forward and become fake fiances and real lovers. After a few more bumps in the road, Cassy leaves Scott believing one thing and it's just not true. Scott is left wondering what happened to Cassy and how to fix their relationship. Can he figure out what happened between them and fix it? Will Cassy forgive him? I loved the story line and how everything comes together. I really liked Scott and Cassy, and can totally relate to Cassy's want for a real relationship. The characters were great and believable, I really liked that too. Joan did a great job with this!!

Mad About You

by Joan Kilby

Cassy Morris has been best friends with Scott Thornton for years and when he calls and asks her to help him launch his new invention and find an investor she moves in with him. He is also being perused by lots of woman she pretends to be his fiancé to throw them of the scent and to leave him alone.

Cassy has always liked him in a more than friends way and when they get together the chemistry is too much to deny.

This is a really nice read about 2 close friends not sure if they should make the step and develop their friendship into a sexual relationship. There is plenty of sexual chemistry between them.

I really liked the characters, Scott has some issues with his father and I love that Cassy is the one that grounds him and gives him the shake he needs. They really do make a sweet couple. There are some steamy sex scenes in here and they are well written and very realistic.

No angst or cliffhanger ending in this one, just nice and uncomplicated!

Mad About You was a great mix of business and pleasure. Cassy and Scott have been best friends forever and employer/employee just now. Both afraid to make a move and ruin their forever friendship, one of them will have to step up to the plate and make the first move. In the meantime, Cassy needs to find an investor willing to help Scott move his company to the next level and produce a really amazing new technology.

Scott has a lot of baggage though, and it may prevent him from succeeding in busines or with Cassy. It's a good thing both their stubborn streaks are a mile long because they both need them.

I really enjoyed the computer nerds and techies that work for Scott. They don't have a large part, but they really add a dose of humor and liveliness that is very refreshing. They are oblivious to the sexual tension in the air around them and it makes for a couple of interesting small scenes.

When things finally start to happen, it gets hot really fast and the chemistry is undeniable.

Mad About You by Joan Kilby was a fine read. The story of lifelong best friends Scott and Cassy taking the next step. Agreeing to a fake engagement to keep the throngs of women at bay while he attempts to launch his Dreamcatcher business and not lose his focus of making his dream come true and hopefully not lose their friendship and Cassy agreeing to help with the preparation of the business proposal.
The only person Scott trusts is Cassy. Together they set about finding an angel investor for Dreamcatcher and at the same time, their personal feelings evolve into something more. Their intimacy escalates and the lines become blurred between what is really fake and what is actually real. In search of investors for his business, Scott comes across more than he bargains for.

Scott and Cassy's characters were written well in parts of the book. The story got a bit hectic at times and not enough about the background of the characters. The overall story of best friends finding love together and family reconciliations made for a pleasant read. The Epilogue was well written and nice ending to the story.

The friends turn lovers angle has been done in so many ways that it seems redundant at times. This book didn’t fit the normal mold.

Scott Thornton needs help fast. This sexy geek’s company is wrecked with Espionage, and dis-trust is plaguing his company. Scott decides to call in his best friend for life Cassy Morris. Cassy reluctantly agrees knowing she putting a lot on the line to help. When relationship lines get blurred things tend to get messy and these best friends can’t seem to communicate any longer.

With a company on the verge of exploding internationally can these 2 keep it together? And what happens once the signatures are dry? Can things go back to the way they were? Or can Scott and Cassy move forward towards the future they deserve?

This book was a great quick read. Perfect for an afternoon on the couch, a day on the beach whenever you want a nice heartwarming read.

Scott has a tech invention that he needs investors for and the only person he trusts for the job is his best friend Cassy, so he asks her to move in with him and work for him. It ends up that he is also extremely awkward around women and doesn't want the distraction so he asks her to pretend to be his girlfriend as well. Cassy has been in love with him for years, but he has never taken the time to look at her as anything more than a friend. Living and working together becomes just the distraction he needs to look at her in a whole new way.

I love that Scott has a vulnerability and an innocence to him. It was just so sweet to read as he went down the list of things that Cassy had told him that women like wanting so much to please her. I love that their relationship began as children and the moment they shared those stories with Lorraine was wonderful. I loved hearing about their shared history. I love that Cassy totally gets Scott. She knows he quirky and understands his childhood pain. They are just so lovely together.

I give Mad About You 4 hearts!

I love me a geek! This story was such a delight to read... romantic, sparky female lead, hot and sexy geek male lead, and a plot line full of excitement and twists. Who could ask for more?

I love the changes Cassy and Scott go through. They have been friends since they were seven years old. Hard and fast, they have fought, supported each other, and most of all encouraged and helped each other through life.

Scott never realized Cassy has been in love with him all these years. Heck, he did not know HE was in love with her. They have both been reluctant to alter the parameters of their friendship... it is too important to keep being friends and not alter that.

I loved the scene in the honeymoon suite. Those two were simmering deep down with lust and expectation. The nervousness they both were experiencing was a great added bonus.

This story goes to show you, it is not impossible to teach a geek a little romance!

I love this author writing. The characters is well written, and plot has a twist but fun and understandable. It give shaped to the story an reader's wondering minds. A well recommended story for an indulgance line. 5 stars review.

Can two best friends fall in love? Joan Kilby writes a romantic and sexy tale that tells us they can and do. Cassy and Scott have known each other since they were children. When he calls and asks her to come to Seattle and be his "firewall", she reluctantly agrees. With their close proximity everything changes. To complicate their emotions further, there is a fake engagement, Scott's estranged father and the need for an angel investor to make his Dreamcatcher a reality. This story is fast paced, humorous and so very romantic. I wanted Cassy and Scott to have a HEA. The characters are engaging and the dialogue is snappy. I loved Scott's techies! They were funny and endearing. I'm hoping that we get to read Leonard's story. He was charming. This is the first book that I've read by Joan Kilby, but it won't be the last. She has a nice touch that makes for easy reading.

Scott's attention can quickly turn to something else or someone (coughCassycough), "looks like I won't be able to ride tomorrow..." He turned as he spoke and his words faded away. For a moment, he just stared at her, speechless. Finally, he cleared his throat. "Wow! You look amazing." And he's such an active boy in the morning, "oh, I'm awake." He flipped her on her stomach and hiked her hips up in an attempt to spread her and allow him greater access." I mean he also knows how to make Cassy second guess herself, "did he regret making love to her? Was that it? Wham, bang, thank you ma'am? Had she just had a one-night stand with the man she'd waited all her life to be with? Surely it wasn't possible that their fling was over in one night."

I'm a huge fan of the friends to lovers and to me its a difficult road to go down. Cassy has always had feelings for Scott. They've been through so much together and her 1 time when she tries for something more didn't work out. In typical male fashion, Scott asks for a huge favor not realizing how hard it will actually be on her. Cassy, being the good friend that she is comes thru for him. what starts out as a small favor snowballs into something bigger and continues to push them closer to one another. Will Scott be able to let go of his past enough to give Cassy a chance?

An extremely cute read. I like the idea that Cassy and Scott have been friends since childhood and as adults that friendship is a building block to much more. Scott has always relied on Cassy as a support system and calls on her help in his business. She drops everything to help him in more ways than one. This book touches base on friendship, lust, love humor along with the pain and confusion they confront to admit and tàckle what they feel for each other. Well written with a few hot scenes. You'll love the geeks!

“New to me author” Joan Kilby has put a wonderful spin on friends to lovers tale Mad About You. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen next she managed to surprise me. I adored Scott and the Geeks. Goodness knows Cassy needs a sense of humor to bridge the gap between the Geeks and the rest of the world but she does it with love and kindness. For a light fun sweet romance add this to your list.

Childhood friend asks another to help him out because they’re the only one he truly trusts. So when Scott asks Cassy to help him with his little venture, little did he realize he’d end up getting a whole lot in return. Even when they had a few hiccups they survived. It was a sweet story and you liked Scott and Cassy very much. Pick up a copy, you’ll enjoy it.

Now here is a novelty! This is definitely the first time I read about a heroine doing the chasing. Cassy, a brave accountant who had a crush on her best friend tried her best to make him realize how much he unconsciously loves her. That's a very good book full of love and emotions. You just can't help but fall in love with Cassy and Scott and of course Rupert the goldfish :)
