This was my second audiobook for this series - and it was better than my first one which was Monster. Still, the majority of this one felt like the characters trying to outsmart the mercenaries more than finding Nessie. The scenes where Chelsea and Francois were speaking in code was like having the author slap you multiple times and saying, "Do you get it? They're speaking in coooode." 🙄 Same thing happened when those characters split to talk to the other women and men in their group. It felt like a lot of 'clearly this person knew it was code because they were saying things that weren't true,' multiple times - like the author was telling instead of showing.
I was originally trying to get into this series from once trying to read the ebook Rougarou with Lux in it. I'll get back to that one soon now that I have it on audio. I'm kind of figuring it'll be more so bad guys coming in rather than cryptid. That's what this one felt like - to the point I don't remember much of the scenes with the Nessies compared to the group being stuck with the mercenaries.
Loch Ness Awakens, book 12 in the fun Creatures series is about Dustin et al being tricked into a hunt for the Loch Ness monster by the deceitful Madeline, an old ex-fiance of Francois, while in reality the antagonists wanted to use the DNA of the creature to make a serum that would alter human DNA to greatly increase longevity. As with the rest of the series, all the primary protagonists are well established and that is reflected in both actions and dialogue. The description of the caves and peat tunnels is clear and vivid. All in all a lot of fun! 4/5 stars! Recommended as excellent escapist fare!
I’m sorry to give such a bad review but I have to be honest
I was actually pretty excited by the title of this book having never actually read a book about the lochness monster. Been into monsters lately so I read … and was bored after a few chapter. This book spent more time introducing and talking to characters than actually showing anything?!? The author didn’t even describe the freaking monster and everything was way too easy. So much talking! This was boring and very to no action. I was so disappointed and had to fast forward I was so bored.
An interesting story that I thought was a little slow in the beginning. It picked up as the story went on. When reviewing the Howler I wasn't sure about reading a second book by this author, but this is the second one I've read. I can recommend them. If you have huge TBR list, wait on picking one of these up. If you haven't got one, then try one of these
