Fe was a brilliant debut novel by Benjamin Bronte. I met him at a book faire and picked up a signed copy which inevitably sat on my shelf for months as I eyed it and admonished myself for not moving it more quickly up my TBR. Finally getting to it, I’m so glad to have gone on the ride of many lifetimes with that crazy little atom.

The story could be inadequately described as if Forest Gump was an iron atom drifting through significant events in history and human future. It was fascinating, each chapter typically jumping through time and human characters.

While some chapters lagged a bit, and others were SO thick with scientific jargon that it was almost a different language (even for me with a Chemistry degree) - for me, the deep science sections were fascinating. While I think this may limit the size of an audience who reads this book at LOVES it like I did, for me, it was a really fun contrast between fantastical and true-to-reality deep science chemistry and biology.

I hope he puts out more stuff and finds a way to balance his incredibly strong scientific understanding with writing with broader appeal so more people can enjoy his creative storytelling!
