From space came humanity's end, and its salvation. All the Apparatta asked in return was the right to seek brides among us to save their own species. Anyone female may be screened, but only the willing are Claimed.
Her future is uncertain . . .
When Clara Whitemarsh finally catches a glimpse of the devastatingly handsome aliens who saved humanity, she can't help but feel the charismatic power -- and danger -- that practically rolls off of them.
He's a ruthless warrior willing to use any weapon against his enemy . . .
Arribatt Devonai will do anything to protect his people. Anything. No matter how ruthless. His people have always come before his own needs, but his best laid plans are put to the test when Clara falls into his lap and a possessive desire that, for once, has nothing to do the survival of the Apparatta. If there's one thing Devonai knows, it's that Clara was meant to be an Apparatta bride. But his bride? ... that's a different story.
Episode length: Approximately 8,500 words. This episode is Episode One of Apparatta: The Claiming.
Kennedy Castille writes in a very old house in a very small town. She's been a storyteller for as long as she could scratch down letters on the page, but during her education, the kinds of writing that were praised weren't the kind of stories that filled her idle thoughts. They lacked built men, scorching hot sex, and rip-your-heart-out love stories. So it took Kennedy awhile to believe that her fancies were worthy of the page. But now, when she sits in front of her keyboard with a glass of red wine and closes her eyes, there's no stopping the stories she writes for herself, or her interest in sharing them with her fans -- because every woman deserves a hot hero.
The Apparatta are a race of hot bodied alien Alpha males. They are described to be large and muscular when compared to the human male. The part I found myself enjoying was the fact that they preferred their woman to have a little cushion for the pushin! Who doesn’t love a good “Mars needs women” type of story?
Clara Whitemarsh is your everyday curvy woman, someone who is overlooked by today’s beauty standards. Her attitude towards her “chances” of being chosen indicated a low self-esteem. I found myself speculating if she had ever been insulted by a boy she found desirable or picked on during her earlier years. Mrs. Castille did an excellent job of bringing her Heroine to life for me.
Arribatt Devonai is Clara’s potential love interest. He is ruthless in the defense of his people. Like any good soldier, the needs of the whole outstrip the needs of one. However, can he really keep his ideals when faced with something he may want more than anything?
I can’t wait to see what Arribatt will do when he realizes that his blood savior got away.
