About the author

Her writing focuses on contemporary social issues. She is a perceptive observer of the changing urban milieu and her writing closely examines the contemporary Bengali middle class. Crisis in human relationships and the changing values of the present era along with degeneration of the moral fibre of the society in the backdrop of globalisation and consumerism are depicted in her prose. Exploitations and sufferings of women regardless of their social or economic identities find a distinct voice in her writing. While she is famous for her writing on women's issues, she does not consider herself as a feminist. She took up many odd jobs in her early youth and finally joined the public service which she left in 2004 to become a fulltime writer. Her long career is reflected in many of her stories and novels.

Over the past two decades, Suchitra has written about 24 novels and a large number of short stories in different leading Bangla literary magazines. Some of her acclaimed novels are Kachher Manush (Close to Me), Dahan (The Burning), Kacher Dewal(The Wall Of Glass), Hemonter Pakhi(Bird of Autumn), Neel Ghurni, Aleek Shukh(Heavenly happiness), Gabhir Ashukh (A Grave Illness), Uro Megh(Flying Cloud), Chhera Taar, Alochhaya(Shadows Of Light), Anyo Basanto(Another Spring), Parabas, Palabar Path Nei, Aami Raikishori, Rangin Pritibi and Jalchhobi among others. Her novels and short stories have been translated into many Indian languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Oriya, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi and English. She also writes novels and short stories for children. Her novel Dahan was made into a movie by famous Bengali director, Rituparno Ghosh.

এবারের ভ্রমণ ভারতের কেরালা, কেরালার যেসব দর্শনীয় জায়গা সব ঘুরে দেখার জন্য ৪৪ ঘন্টার ট্রেন জার্নি করেন!ওপাশে ওদের কে নিতে আসেন অবনীর ছাত্র সুনীল। এদের মধ্যে পার্থ একটু পাগলা গোছের, সে ব্যাগ ফ্রী বলে বেড়াতে আসার আগে ৪ টা একই রকম টি-শার্ট কিনে ফেলেন, ফ্রী ব্যাগ এর একটি ভায়রাভাই কে দেন। আর দুই ভাইয়রাভাই এর দাবার নেশা মারাত্তক। প্রচলিত নিয়ম অনুসারে, রহস্য গোয়েন্দাদের পিছু নেয়। তো আমাদের মিতিন মাসির টিম হঠাৎ করে এক চুরির মামলা তে জড়িয়ে পরে, এক চার্চের “গ্রেট স্ক্রল” দেখতে গিয়ে, চুরি যায় এই স্ক্রল। আর ওদের পিছু নেই দুটো মুশকো লোক, কারা এরা? কেন এদের পিছনে? আর একসময় দলে জোটে কুরপ নামের এক লোক।! কে এরা? এরা পারবে তো বের হতে রহস্য থেকে?

ভাল লেগেছে এক কোথায়, তবে যেসকল এরিয়া এরা ঘুরাঘুরি করেছে, এইগুলার নাম পিছনে দাঁত ভেঙ্গে গেছে প্রায়। লেখক সম্প্রদায়ের প্রতি আমার অনেক বড় এক অভিযোগ এরা ভ্রমণ আর খাবারের বর্ননা এমন করে দেন দুঃখে শকে শোকে আমি পাথর । যেহেতু অনেকের ফেলুদা, ব্যোমকেশ, শার্লক, তিন গোয়েন্দা পড়া, সবার কাছে বেশ রহস্য মনে নাও হতে পারে, তবে খারাপ লাগবে না, এটা বলতে পারি।

সুচিত্রা ভট্টাচার্যের গদ্যে কেরালার সৌন্দর্য্যের বর্ণনা খুব উপভোগ্য ছিল।ভ্রমণকাহিনী হিসেবে দিব্যি পড়া যায়। কিন্তু গোয়েন্দা গল্প হিসেবে খুবই পলকা 'কেরালায় কিস্তিমাত'।

রহস্য বা গোয়েন্দা কাহিনী হিসেবে ৫ এ ০। কিন্তু ভ্রমণকাহিনী, কিশোর উপন্যাস, এডভেঞ্চার কাহিনী হিসেবে ৫ এ ৩ দিলুম।
আর লেখা একদম ঝরঝরে, গড়গড়িয়ে পড়ে গেছি একদম।

Firstly I felt as a detective mystery this story is very weak but as an adventurous or travel story it's good. This whole plot is like 80 percent of history,adventures, traveling and 20 percent of detective and mystery. Like why do I need to read the history of so-so when I came to read thriller mystery and detective cases? Also, I predicted who would be the mastermind behind the stealing of the 'Great Scroll', when the new character PKG Kurup was introduced. Guess what this PKG Kurup was the main villain an antique smuggler. The 'Great Scroll' was found in Abonida's bag( which they left in Kochi), hidden inside an umbrella that had a special feature to hide that stuff. Since Partho's and Abonida's bags were the same color that's why even those gundas couldn't understand the difference. Anyway I'm quite disappointed with this book because I wanted a mystery and detective case, not a travel vlog bruh

এই লেখাটা ছোটবেলায় পুজোর সময় পূজাবার্ষিকীতে পড়লে মনে হয় বেশি আনন্দ পেতাম। পুজোর আমেজ, চারপাশে সবাই একটা "ঘুরতে যাব, ঘুরতে যাব" রব তুলছে। সোশ্যাল মিডিয়া বিহীন দুনিয়ার আশ্বিন মাসের সেই মুহূর্তেই পড়ার জন্য।

এই ২০২৪ সালে এসে, পুজো ব্যাপারটাও আর গায়ে লাগে না সেরকম। এই লেখাটাও তেমনি লাগল। ভিডিও, রিলসের যুগে ডিটেকটিভ বইয়ে পয়েন্ট টু পয়েন্ট ভ্রমণ বৃত্তান্ত পড়তে ভালো লাগে না। আর ডিটেকটিভ বইয়ের ডিটেকটিভগিরিও তেমন জম্পেশ হল না। এই কাহিনি তাই স্ট্রিক্টলি পুরোনো আমলের পুজোর ছুটিতে পড়ার জন্য। সময়ের সাথে তা কৌলীন্য হারিয়েছে।

গোয়েন্দা কাহিনী পড়ার বয়স অনেক আগেই পেড়িয়ে এসেছি,তবে মাঝেমধ্যে সহজপাচ্য,অনায়েসসাধ্য বই পড়তে মন্দ লাগে না।
বইটা আমাকে বিশেষ ভাবে আনন্দ দিয়েছে কেরালার প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্যের বর্ণনার দিক থেকে।কেরালার সৌন্দর্যের বিস্তারিত বর্ণনা মনোমুগ্ধকরই বটে!
গোয়েন্দা কাহিনীর কথা বলতে গেলে তা স্বল্পই।এবং থ্রিলিং ব্যাপারটা নেই বললেই চলে।

গোয়েন্দা গল্প হিসেবে যথেষ্ট দূর্বল, তবে আপনি যদি ধরে নেন এটা ভ্রমণ কাহিনী তাহলে বেশ লাগবে। কেরালা যাওয়ার ইচ্ছে মাথায় হুমড়ি খাচ্ছে এখন।

মিতিনমাসি সিরিজের অন্যতম সেরা উপন্যাস। কেরালার কোচি, মুন্নার, পেরিয়ারের অবারিত সৌন্দর্য্যের পাশাপাশি উত্তেজনাপূর্ণ এক ডিটেকটিভ কাহিনী! ভালো লাগবে অবশ্যই।

এই নভেলা আমার মিতিন মাসি সিরিজের অন্যতম প্রিয়। পুরোটা একদিনে পড়ে শেষ করেছি। খুবই সুন্দর লেগেছে এটা।

কেরালাতে ঘুরতে গেলেন মিতিন মাসি সাথে তার দিদির পরিবার । মানে টুপুর, তার বাবা অবনী বাবু আর মা সহেলী । মিতিন মাসি পার্থ মেসো আর বুমবুমকে নিয়ে মাট্টানচেরীর সিনাগগে গেল দেখতে সেখানে রক্ষিত টেন কমান্ডডেন্ট, ছাগলের চামড়াতে লেখা ।
কিন্তু সুরক্ষিত সিন্দুক খুলে দেখা গেল সেটা উধাও !
কেরালা ঘুরতে গিয়ে রহস্যের আবর্তে আটকে গেলে মিতিন মাসি ।
পারবেন কি তিনি কে চুরি করল তাকে ধরিয়ে উদ্ধার করতে, সেই পুরাতন কিন্তু মহামুল্যাবান আর্টিফ্যাক্ট ? কিম্বা কে খুন করল টিকিট কাউন্টাররের ছেলেটিকে তার জবাব বের করতে?
কেরালার নৈসর্গিক দৃশ্যের নেশা ধরান বর্নার সাথে রহস্য মন্ডিত যাত্রা মিতিন মাসির সাথে ।
