Ik heb er geen spijt van dat ik het heb gelezen, vandaar 3 ballen. Maar heel wereldschokkend of vernieuwend was het nou ook allemaal niet. Het nadeel van beschouwingen is dat het dan toch vaak… wat beschouwend blijft.

This book really does help outline the recent AI-induced schism in the field of art as we know it at its bleeding edge. It does prove my point that artistic creativity and signature aren't going to be effected so much as the economic/recognition culture currently is (where creation and recognition are becoming more polarized or distant in a sense). It also concludes that nothing is inherently stopping us from producing things that AI on its own cannot; that is, through the creative faculties of human friction that we still have in the irreproducible back-end of our thought processes as the conduits of our creation. Despite the author's slight bias towards anthropocentric creationism, this book seems to be very efficient at analyzing for an empirical and intelligible viewpoint on the artistic landscape. With that being said, these are pretty rough times for those who make a living off producing art! It's an unfortunate cultural transition, but if it's truly inevitable, then I say we should welcome it with open arms and produce meaningful content through this systemic renewal. Even if the pessimists still feel that the artistic field is at its morbid dawn, we cannot forget that creation still binds us to the preeminent void that is the lack of message. Even in our state of irreconcilability against the wills of AI, we shall keep moving forward and defy with our creative excitability. Alas, while I have my own opinions about these events, this book still attempts to be objective about it and that's why it's an easy 5 for me.

a really simple overview of the rise of ai in artistic spaces (and i mean surprisingly simple). in his conclusion, the author admits that he "didn't really answer [his] own question" -- despite citing some interesting cases and facts, the most pressing questions are unfortunately left unanswered.

ah well. quick read at least.
