As a huge fan of this author’s The O’Leary’s series, I get excited when she has a new release. I’m always hoping to hit that same romantic groove that had me hooked on those engaging story lines.

Having enjoyed book 1, One Night With the Millionaire, I had high hopes for book 3 of this particular series. However, I must admit my personal preferences definitely got in the way of falling head over heels for Owen and Evelyn’s story. You see, I’m just not a fan of a BFF main couple who previously had a one night stand just because the mood struck one night then shrugged it off/walked away from that aspect of their relationship and were with other people over the years. Openly dating and hooking up right under each others noses. Heck, Owen had a girl named Tara on his speed dial he called when looking for a good time. Just to now finally getting around to falling in love. For me, it is like being served a delicious bowl of soup but handed a dirty spoon to eat it with. Folks, you just have no idea where that filthy spoon has been.

Though I liked Owen, his hand wringing and excessive worrying about being afraid if things didn’t work out between them made this hard working, cares about kids, courageous firefighter an emotional wimp. Again, I liked the guy, the easy back and forth banter, and emotional connection these two knuckleheads had. It was so sweet how tuned in they both were to each other’s feelings, moods, and needs. They genuinely cared for one another, and it showed. They should have stayed together after that ONS. Unfortunately, this aspect added to the overly long feeling this short book of only 200 pages had.

Evelyn was just OK. Her character didn’t wow or particularly win me over. I just wasn’t impressed with her career or how she still interacted with her ex-husband so she could benefit from his media connections. Her so called brilliant idea for a talk show felt lame and unoriginal to me. The only time I liked her character was when she and Owen were being a couple.

The author choosing to interject a swipe at a certain political group did not go unnoticed, either. It was a fleeting second, folks, but it was there. Whether I’m of the same mindset or not, I want that left out of my romantic reads.

Other than really liking the back and forth banter and cuddle time these two had together, I just wasn’t overly impressed with the drawn out drama over Evelyn’s career choices. For only 200 pages, it seemed to take me forever plus one day to finish it, folks. Good for them for now finally choosing love over just friendship though.

Title: My Forever Plus-One, Series: Daring Divorcees (Book 3), Author: Shannyn Schroeder, Pages: 200, felt overly drawn out, some very smexy scenes, ex-husband cameos, BFF turned a couple.

Book 1 - One Night With the Millionaire
Book 2 - My Best Friend’s Ex
Book 3 - My Forever Plus-One

I don't usually like friends-to-lovers but this one is one of the few that I thought was cute! Owen and Evelyn have been friends for a while having bonded in a divorce support group. They really learned to lean on each other when needed and it's just adorable! They decide to take things further but can happily ever after happen when both of them have issues that haven't quite been resolved?

The writing is great, funny at times and had me smiling. No dull parts, the characters were great. This is a great book if you just want to lose yourself in an engaging novel to escape life. It will make you smile and laugh and there are even a few parts that will tug at your heart. A wonderful read.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

So good , so touching, so emotional.
I had a tear or two on this book .

Two people, best friends, soul mates .
These two where meant to be together.
When they finally take the plunge , old trust issues and ex husbands rear their ugly heads.
Can they overcome their demons and make this work .
Loved every page , well written good characters.

I got frustrated I must admit with the friends annoying advise, loved the brotherly bond .

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

This is the third book in the series and the first book that I have read from this author and I really enjoyed it. This can be read as a standalone. I love a good friends to lovers’ story and this was it. Evelyn and Owen helped each other through their respective divorces and they became closer and a relationship blossomed between them. I loved watching them fall in love with each other. It was wonderful. I can’t wait to go back and read the first 2 in this series and read more from this author.

Reviewed on my blog, Becky on Books, on 10/17/19.

Finally--Owen and Evelyn's story!

I feel like I've been waiting forever for them to figure their way out to an HEA (okay, so it was just two books, but it *felt* like ages!) Friends-to-lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and Ms Schroeder does a fantastic job with it here. If you've read the other series books, you know that Owen and Evelyn have been perfectly comfortable hanging out together, being each others' BFFs and eternal plus-ones, neither really feeling the pressure to do more. Then Nina issues her challenge (in One Night With the Millionaire ) and their friends in the group start to find own ways to HEAs. It seems like everyone--from series characters to the readers--knows that the two of them should be together. When would they finally get their acts together and try?

The answer, of course, is in this book. And no, it wasn't easy--at times it felt like it might be, but of course their pasts and issues and hangups are going to get in the way and make them work for it instead. As angry as I wanted to get with Owen (and yeah, he kinda deserves it) I still understood where he was coming from and realized that Evelyn had some things to smooth out too--that HEA wasn't going to happen on its own, and they both had work to do to get there.

And then they do. And it's wonderful :)

Now, let's see what Ms Schroeder can do with the rest of the group... ;)

My Forever Plus-One is the third book in the series. It can be read as a standalone, but you're going to want to get to know all of the "daring divorcees" better, so why not read them all? :)

This is book #3, in the Daring Divorcees series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader enjoyment, I recommend reading the entire series.

Evelyn seems like she has a pretty great life. Being a TV producer has its ups and downs, but overall she likes it. Her best friend is a hunky firefighter and that is a big plus too.

Owen has wanted to be more in Evelyn's life. Being her best friend is a perk, but he is always wishing for that "extra" chance. Will he take it when it arrives?

This story was what I classify as a slow burn. The characters are actually pretty deep, and very interesting. I like their friendship and the loyalty is obvious. I was pretty pleased when they started to try and see how they could be together. Great addition to the series and a pretty hot read.

Friends to Lovers✔️
Mature couple✔️
Hot firefighter and cute dog✔️

My Forever Plus One is my first book by Shannyn Schroeder and I was enchanted from the start! Evelyn and Owen have been best friends since they met in a divorcee group, despite having one night of steamy sex early on, but now they both start to realize that their friendship feels like more.

I loved the honesty and maturity of their relationship and their communication, even during that all important dark moment. It was clear I was jumping into the middle of the series but didn’t feel like I was missing anything, although I will be going back and reading the first two books in the series. And I’m really hoping that Gabe and Nina are next!

I received a complimentary review copy of this book but all opinions are my own.

4.5 STARS REVIEW

Adult Contemporary Romance, Friends-to-Lovers

Third Person, dual-POV

This is book #3 of the Daring Divorcee series, but it can be read as a standalone. I haven't read previous books and I have understood completely.

They had all been divorced for years, and they had come together as friends based on the idea of moving on with their lives after divorce.

Addictiveness: 4.5/5  This was an easy one-sitting read for me. I loved the development of the story with perfect pace and character growth. As addictive as pizza!!!

Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 Characters were multidimensional with lots of interesting layers to them. They were very easy to love.

Owen was hot, hardworking, a wonderful friend, caring, appreciative of women, not afraid to let women shine, accepted his mistakes and tried to learn from them. What can I say... ALMOST PERFECT! Yes, he had baggage, he did have his stupid moments, but his amazing moments were so many, that it was impossible not to fall in love with him. He did learn from his mistakes and his personal growth was beautiful to read.

Evelyn was beautiful, smart, career oriented, great friend, amazing girlfriend, loving and caring. Again, she did had baggage from her past and it took her a while to really notice how heavy it was. But she had personal growth along the story and she was the ALMOST PERFECT heroine.

The entire group of divorcees is very interesting with a few still on the single group. I haven't read Tess and Trevor's book, but I will go back in the series to read. I'm really hoping that Gabe and Nina become a couple.

Villains.. antagonists... I guess Evelyn ex could be an antagonist, but the biggest villain of the story was their baggage. The hold of their past on their choices, their fear of repeating the same mistakes was their worst enemy.

I must say that it is really hard for me to completely love both hero and heroine of the story, but Ms. Schroeder knows how to build her characters because they were both mature, complex , full characters.

All characters were easy to love, connect and understand!!!

Cover: art 5/5, title 5/5, color-font 5/5, buy 5/5  I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. This book cover is perfect for this book. I can see Owen and Evelyn. Him with his firefighter clothes and she with her producer clothes. The subtitle gives us extra material to create the story and the title is PERFECT! I also love the use of colors and font for it. I would easily buy this book by its cover without needing to read the blurb!

Freshness: 3.5/5 I love how refreshing this story was. This is a contemporary romance about a group of divorcees trying to start over. It is not very different from what is out there, but it is so well written that it doesn't really matter how many book like this is out there. As fresh as mint tea!

Plot: believable 5/5, conflict 5/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 5/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 4/5, twists 4/5  Great opening for an amazing ending. This story is very believable and it felt completely real. The conflict was well written and also very believable. The dialogues were very crafty and the slow burn growth of the relationship worked really well for the story. The subplot and twists were the usual, but well written.  High level of enjoyment!

Romance: believable 5/5, chemistry 5/5, description 5/5, development 5/5, steam 4.5/5  Not every romance that I can say the couple are soul mates, but these two they truly were. They have been friends for several years and they had better relationships than lots of married couples. They not only completed each other, but they enhanced each others best qualities. Their passion was sort of a slow burn, but from the beginning we could feel the tension. When it finally burned it was an explosion. Passionate love!

Writing Style: 5/5  Amazing characters with superb dialogues. Simple plot, but very believable. Very emotional romance with beautiful love moments and great smut scenes. The writing of a wordsmith!

Because we do have to be picky...

Freshness: It is hard to create a completely unique friends-to-lovers story inside the contemporary romance genre. But I don't even think is needed. It only has to be well written and for that Ms. Schroeder is a master.

They were always each other's plus-one. They never considered coming with anyone else.

This was my first read from the author and I have to say I'm in love. It was so easy to read at the same time so emotional. Such a simple love story, but with all complexities that a true romance has.

I can't wait for Nina and Gabe's book, I think that is going to be a crazy, wild pairing. ( I don't really know they are the next book, this is just my wishful thinking)

32.5/35 STARS –  4.5 STARS (between 31.5 stars and 33 stars)

Addictiveness: 4.5 Character: 5 Cover: 5 Freshness: 3.5  Plot: 4.5 Romance: 5 Writing Style: 5

Action 1/5 Angst 2/5 Darkness 0/5 Humor 3/5 Romance 5/5 Suspense/Mystery 0/5

Would I recommend? Definitely! For anyone and everyone that enjoys a true love story!!!

Would I re-read this book/series? Yes! I'm certain I will.

Would I read more from the author? I’m looking forward to.

You may read this because you follow the series you SHOULD read this because you enjoy fantastic writing; you MUST read this for a true love story!!!

Evelyn and Owen’s love story warmed my heart. It’s never too late to find your happily ever after. After dealing with baggage from both of them, they were able to find a way to get past all of it and start their life together.

After both went through a divorce, they became each others backbone through life, doing everything together. When faced with the possibility of taking it past the label of friends, Evelyn was hesitant about how Owen’s family will react to the news. Not only did they welcome her with open arms, they said “about time!”

Evelyn’s ex husband Donald is still active in her life. He has helped her career as a television producer in the past and is helping her get back on her feet after quitting her job. Although they used to be married, Evelyn has no issues with keeping Donald at arms reach even though Owen still doesn’t trust the guy.

Owners ex wife had cheated on him without him seeing any of the signs. When he and Evelyn officially start dating, he has to keep fighting thoughts entering his mind that every guy around her wants to have her. At the same time, he has to keep reminding himself that she is not flirting with anyone and instead she’s been friendly and professional.

What happens when Owen’s insecurities threaten their new relationship? Read and find out!

ARC Review 📚

This was a really enjoyable, and realistic storyline to read, about two people, Evelyn and Owen, who are part of a Divorce Friendship Support group, who are best friends, and it grows into something more. What I enjoyed about this story, was it's realistic approach to how the past can impact the future, and how to move on from that.

This was book #3 in the Daring Divorcees Series, and this was the 2nd book in the series that I have read. I have read the second book in the series, "My Best Friend's Ex, which I really enjoyed as well.

I really enjoyed the fact even though I have not read them in order, I was still able to immerse myself into the story.

I am looking forward to reading #1 (One night with a Millionaire) and if Shannyn releases more, I would be more than happy to read those too.

Cute, quick, entertaining, and wonderful characters. A group of divorcees has formed a club to help one another to move on in their lives. Owen and Evelyn are part of that group. They have formed a special bond and are BFFs. They have chemistry, but they both feel their friendship is more important to keep intact and don’t want to risk it by going into a relationship. They finally give in to their feelings for one another figuring their bond will only get stronger. Will it? Or will insecurities rear their ugly heads and ruin it all? You already know the answer to that. This is a romance after all. But it’s fun seeing how it all plays out.

Owen and Evelyn forever - They were a couple before they were a couple. Besties after their divorces and always together. They fell in love with each other with no pomp and circumstance, their easy friendship becoming so much more over time. Adjusting to their new status took a little work, but the love they shared pulled them through. A great friends-to-lovers romance with enough heat to fry your eyeballs and warm your heart.

Daring Divorcees

I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 books in this series. But I'm left to wonder and wondered this when I was on the second book: what about Nina and Gabe? Are they going to get their HFN/HEA?!

Someone please comment and let me know if there are going to be 2 more books or not. I could honestly live easily without knowing but it'd be nice to complete the New Beginnings group.

Evelyn tossed the headset onto the console, just as the director called “Cut.” Another day, another group of young women armed with the knowledge of which man had fathered their children. As she turned to leave the control room, the new intern, Aisha came barreling through the door and said “Mr. Emundson wants you to come to his office -” Aisha added she thought he meant now. Evelyn nodded Harry- her boss- always wanted everything right now. She scanned her memory for a reason he might demand her presence. No fights broke out on camera so no legal action. Although her and Harry were friendly enough to be on a first name basis, he was still her boss and she always appeared professional. Harry told her” The Women In Media group will announce the nominees for their annual awards soon.” Harry told her nothing was official yet but he had friends who think she was getting nominated. Than Evelyn told Harry she was thinking about developing a new talk show and told him about it. Harry told her he’d think about it, get him some numbers, staffing, and show ideas and they’d talk again. She told him she would have the information by next week. She texted Owen to tell him to come over for dinner. Owen took off his helmet and set it on the seven year old who looked up at him in awe. The thought of Evelyn being with a guy Owen worked with rubbed him the wrong way. But she has a special place in his life. The only person he could count on no matter what. One of the reasons Evelyn went to Owen with good news was because he supported her, even when he didn’t fully understand. The unconditional love was hard to come by. Sometimes Evelyn forgot how well Owen knew her. He acted like he didn’t pay attention to things, but he did. Regardless of what Owen said, he was a good guy, chivalrous to the core. Owen and Evelyn had met in a divorce support group. One time they’de thrown all reason aside and slept together. Early on Owen and Evelyn had been hurting but the chemistry had been there. They'd gone for drinks after a meeting and had ended up at her place. It had been the first time for both of them since their divorces. It had been one of the hottest nights of Evelyn’s life. She had come from a divorce feeling undesirable and worthless. She couldn’t do anything as basic as keeping a man. Than worse, as soon as the ink was dry on the divorce papers her ex-Donald- found someone else. They had helped each other heal that one night years ago. Owen had been her best friend. Her rock. Every since, whenever she doubted herself he was there to cheer her up. Changing their relationship would mean changing his role in her life, and she couldn’t imagine losing that. One of the things that drew her to Owen was his sense of family, he had his own family and his work family, and he had quickly brought her into all of it. Owen didn’t manipulate, he wanted what was best for Evelyn. Evelyn was still friends with her ex Donald but Owen didn’t like him.
I loved this book it was a fun romantic book with a little drama shot in. I didn’t want to put it down and read it in one setting. I loved Evelyn and Owen and how they interacted together. I loved they were best friends for quite awhile before going further into a romantic relationship. I was a little shocked Owen would actually think evelyn would cheat on him with Donald. Especially after Evelyn told him she realized Donald had taken taken too much space in her life and that she had made him leave her condo. I know Had issues because of his ex wife cheating on him, but he really already knew evelyn and he should have had more faith and trust in her. I loved the ending. I loved the characters in this book and the ins and outs and I highly recommend it.

evelyn and owen are best friends who have come to rely each other in every way, except it's all platonic. he's her date for work events. she's his for the same. my forever plus-one is actually aptly titled. they have each other's keys. they talk every day and know what's going on in each other's lives to a perhaps unhealthy degree.

when they first met, they were both recently divorced, recently damaged, and they valued their friendship over the intimacy. but over time, the lines have blurred. and they are intimate without being intimate.

but they're still pretty bad at communicating. or maybe it's bad at listening. because i feel like at one point owen is pretty clear about what his issues are and evelyn kind of blows him off about it, only to realize he is right, but he's also behaved like a giant d-bag and so she's rightfully mad and so then he has to grovel.

this is tropey friends-to-lovers goodness, and owen and evelyn are a well-matched pair. and the divorce club folks aren't so hugely invested, though i'm not sure what i'm going to do when nina is the lead because she's occasionally such a know-it-all that i can't stand it. but this series is on the whole totally enjoyable.

I do enjoy friends to lovers stories, which is what this one is. Unlike stories about strangers who meet, or couples who start out not really liking one another, with friends to lovers storyline, they can jump forward quite a few steps. It makes the speed that a lot of these relationships move at much more convincing. In My Forever Plus-One, the couple in question are best friends Owen and Evelyn. They are so close that it's obvious to all of their friends (and us) that really they should be more than just friends.
I enjoyed the way the story unfolded, with both of them discovering that they had feelings for each other that went beyond friendship. Of course, this being a romance novel, there was bound to be a little bit of a rocky path to happily ever after. Both of our lead characters have been married before. As a result, they both have quite a bit of emotional baggage and their two different experiences of relationships in the past lead them to find their own relationship to be a little bit of a struggle as they work out how they are together as a couple.
I enjoyed this book and the story of Evelyn and Owen, they worked well together.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

This was the first book of this series and from this author that I have read. This book could be read as a stand-alone but maybe starting at the beginning to fully understand the individuals of the group and their dynamic wouldn't be a bad idea.

I loved having this book written in my favorite dual POV. Seeing into the characters' minds really help me to connect with them. In this case, it was Owen. Owen and Evelyn have been best friends for years. They are each other's plus to events. Both are divorced (hence the series name Daring Divorcees). Unfortunately Owen's ex-wife cheated on him. Evelyn remains friends with her ex, Donald. After a comment is made by a group member, both Owen and Evelyn really start to see the other with different eyes.

I adored how the author established the characters relationship with each other. How the relationship progress. The little kinks thrown in here and there with Owen's trust issues, really made him seem more life-like. The book read like a movie almost.

This is a sexy read, nothing of the erotica in nature but it may offend some. That being said, I can only recommend this book to someone over the age of 18.

I really enjoy the friends-to-lovers trope and this is a good entry into that line of romance novels. Evelyn and Owen have become best friends as they bonded after both being in a group for the divorced. They are just comfortable together even though they have little in common from their professional lives. Evelyn is a producer on a local news talk show with hopes of starting a new show devoted to Chicagoans. Owen is a firefighter who spends most of his spare time volunteering at a local center for children who have nowhere to go after school. But they fit together. And they support each other by being the “plus one” at each other’s social gatherings.

Of course, they’re attracted to each other and, like all such plots, they fear sacrificing their close friendship if they take their relationship to the next level. And once they do, they’re going to encounter new challenges that their innate love and trust in each other will be necessary for them to overcome.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

This is a classic best-friends-to-lovers story. Two people who have known each other for years and are comfortable in each other's company slowly fall in love. Evelyn and Owen met a few years ago and they've been close friends since then. They're always there for each other. And they're used to being each other's dates when needed. However, they aren't actually dating. The chemistry is there and love is there but they both feel that friendship is the only option for them.

Soon, they are going to realize that their friendship may not be the same if they didn't act upon their mutual attraction. But is it wise to even consider that? There are so many things that can go wrong. Still, they won't know unless they try.

It's a well-written story. I loved the characters and it has all the right feels for a contemporary romance. Also, I love it when best friends fall in love. It's the best. If you also enjoy that kind of stories then this is definitely for you.

P.S. I received a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley.

Owen and Evelyn met after their marriages ended, via a divorce support group, and have been best friends ever since. They spend all their spare time together and are each other’s dates as required. They crossed the line one time but decided their friendship was too important to jeopardize so they crossed back and have only been friends ever since.

Owen is a man who needs to help others. He has only ever wanted to be a firefighter and he volunteers at the youth center. Evelyn is a TV producer who is reaching a crossroads in her career, who at times, I wish, she would have been more assertive with her coworkers.

Their feelings for each other are changing and they believe they are ready to move past friendship, but overcoming their pasts may be the biggest challenge of all.

This is a friends to lovers story between two people who accept each other, faults and all, and balance each other out perfectly. I have read all of Shannyn’s books, and this series is one of my favorites.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

Friendship becomes love!

Television producer Evelyn Rhodes has always asked her best friend, firefighter Owen Hanson to be her plus-one for any work functions or family stuff that she needed a date for and Owen did the same because neither of them was dating anybody. But when Evelyn wanted to make more of their friendship Owen started to panic because of how his first marriage collapsed when his wife couldn’t handle his job. Owen wasn’t sure what he wanted but he knew he wanted Evelyn and he had to fix the situation before she gave up him.

I absolutely love stories that start with friends because you get to know the person before moving into a deeper relationship with them. Plus their friends were taking bets on when they would actually the friendship to the next level of love.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When I met the characters in this series in the second book (since I missed the first), I instantly fell in love. I wanted HEAs for everyone but I also wanted to know so much more about the friendship between Owen and Evelyn.

Owen and Evelyn are the very best of friends. They met after going through divorces and have carried each other ever since. They refuse to cross the line into more than friendship until they can't possibly deny what everyone else has seen since forever, they're perfect for each other.

There was so much to love about this book but the hands down best part is how FIERCE (!!) Evelyn is. She rolls over for no one and I actually cheered out loud for her several times during this story and if I ever got to meet her, I'd be giving her a million high fives. She's so strong even when you would think the strongest would fall apart.

I love this series and can't wait to see which one of this group gets their HEA next!!

I love this series. This is the third book and this book is about Owen and Evelyn. They have been best friends for a long time. They are part of the same divorce support group. Everyone around them can see how much they love each other except for the two of them. They soon come to realize that perhaps they should take a chance on each other and start a real relationship. At first it is all great but then both of their insecurities start to come to the surf and they each begin to have doubts in each other. What happens when those doubts come out? Will they be able to savage their relationship and move on? Pick up this book and find out It is a really great read with some great supporting characters. I am really looking forward to seeing whose story is next. I am hoping it is Gabe's! Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love best friends to lovers stories. How sweet is it that the person who knows you best is the perfect one for you! I enjoyed meeting Owen and Evelyn in the first books and was happy to now read their story. It touched my heart in the scenes where they both just knew what the other needed without any words being spoken. Their friendship is truly beautiful and wonderfully written. I did get a little frustrated with Owen at a crucial moment and wanted to knock some sense in him. I mean, I got where he was coming from, however, if he too two seconds to stop and really think about their situation, a lot of the drama would not have existed. But in the end, both Owen and Evelyn make us swoon and love them together.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.

Owen and Evelyn met after their marriages ended and have been best friends ever since. They spend all their spare time together and are each other’s dates as required. They crossed the line one time but decided their friendship was too important to jeopardize so they crossed back and have been only friends ever since.

Owen is a man with an innate need to help others as he has only ever wanted to be a firefighter and he volunteers at the youth center as well while Evelyn is a TV producer who is reaching a crossroads in her career.

Their feelings for each other are changing and they believe they are ready to pursue a relationship between them but overcoming their pasts may be the biggest challenge of all.

This is a friends to lovers story between two people who accept each other faults and all and balance each other out perfectly.

I enjoy friends to lovers romance stories very much and this one was a good one. I had a few issues with Evelyn and how she let the men in her field treat her. In this day of workplace harassment, I would have preferred she stuck up for herself. As much as I read romance to help me separate from real- world issues, this one was too much of a hot button topic to ignore.
On the plus side, I love a firefighter hero, so Owen was a winner in that department alone! I really enjoyed the protectiveness and support he gave to Evelyn. I also liked the premise of two divorced people who met through a support group; it’s not a relationship I’ve encountered in a romance read.
The pace and dialogue were excellent and I will definitely be picking up other books by this author. 3.5 stars

I received an ARC from Netgalley, which I honestly and voluntarily reviewed.

This is a magnificent story. Evelyn and Owen are both divorced and have become best friends. Their relationship is comfortable and they trust each. After years of going on like this they decide to change their status and start having sex. This changes everything. Evelyn is strong and very focused on her career. The only time she gets to be herself is with Owen. Owen has trust issues from his divorce and that is becoming a cloud in this new relationship. The author does an excellent job of bringing out the human element. She shoes that there is hope to start over later in life. The characters are smart and witty. They have fun while living their best life and are able to face the realities of a relationship.
