Actionreiches Nachsitzen, außergewöhnliche Unterrichtseinheiten sowie gemeingefährliche Mitschüler und Lehrer – das sind die Geschichten von der Demon-Slayer-Schule!
This was a really cute addition to the Demon Slayer universe. It focuses on an alternate universe where there’s no demons and no one dies. Zenitsu feels like the main character in this volume so I know this volume won’t work for everyone, but I found this to be an enjoyable and lighthearted story. I’m interested in reading volume two and I’m hoping that maybe the story will somehow get a little deeper as the series progresses.
I'm kind of at a loss in how to review this book. I think this would have made a LOT more sense had I been knowledgable of the Demon Slayer world before I read this book and I would recommend maybe getting to know the characters in the other books (anime? I have no idea, I'm sorry.) first before reading this one.
It was cute, but I was at sea. I didn't know the characters and their personalities, so seeing them as younger chibi versions of themselves didn't amuse me so much as confuse me.
I am not the target audience for this book and it shows. This is a "me" problem and not a "book" problem. I went in blind, so any confusion is due to that and my ignorance, not due to the book.
3, I need to research a bit more and come back to this one, stars.
My thanks to NetGalley and VIZ Media LLC for an eARC of this book to read and review.

While there are Demons and Demon Slayer characters. There is zero Demon Slaying. In fact some of the teachers are demons if I recognise them properly when converted to cute characters. The stories I just don't get, they are not funny or scary, it might be a cultural thing. Sometimes short page long gag comics don't convert to longer story. Meh.
*Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for providing an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.*
This is a spin-off of the Demon Slayer series, putting all of the characters into a modern school setting. The chapters are pretty self-contained and are mostly quick, fun stories about the characters. It's particularly fun seeing who is who, as some people as teachers, while it makes sense, is really funny to see on paper. I also love the chibi art style and how chaotic the stories can get. Demon Slayer is a serious series, so it's nice to see the characters in light-hearted situations. This is a fun read, and a must have for all kny fans.
this was the lighthearted and funny read I needed after the infinity castle movie. give me a thousand volumes of a slice of life au please and thank you 😮💨
I haven’t read any of the other demon slayer manga or seen the anime so I can only judge off of this manga here it’s OK. The arts good and the characters like I said I haven’t read the demon slayer so I’m guessing these are close to what the characters behave like that all the screaming it’s kind of old kind of quick all in all I thought the story was just OK usually spinoffs I usually just get tired of pretty quick all in all if you’re probably a fan of the demon slayers it’s probably better for you I like I said I haven’t read any of the others so I don’t know how Close this is it’s not really a bad series I might read the rest.
I loved when I read Demon Slayer and the characters had bouts of happiness in between their perilous journeys. This is basically the entirety of Kimetsu Academy and it makes me so happy to see! Everyone is safe (Well, as long as you're following school rules) and they're high energy! I love how all the characters are portrayed with their personalities still very much there, yet now in a school setting. Also, the Nezuko morning version with the bread is a very fun version of the bamboo stick from the original series. If you liked Demon Slayer and you value the characters' more silly and fun antics, then you will enjoy Kimetsu Academy!
Lol spin off kny ini emang paling ngakak sih. Jokes nya dapet semua dan kayaknya sih MC nya Zenitsu🤣😂 Ngabrut bgt terutama pas remed matematika sama Sanemi (malah dpt penyiksaan brutal gara2 Sanemi nguping Zenitsu ngomongin Kanae) sama Zenitsu yg disuruh submit ulang tugas menggambarnya karena dendam pribadi Tengen 🤣😂
Este spin off de Kimetsu es muy divertido, desde que salían los pequeños episodios de ellos en la escuela me parecía muy divertido, pero ahora que los vemos en un tomo solo enfocado en este universo y verlos de chibis me encanta
I think what gets me is how the main characters are always the students, and the dubious characters in "higher" positions of power are the teachers/principals. I guess it would change their "real" relationships too much to do it any other way, but that also sort of bugs me because SO MANY Japanese stories in particular ALREADY deal with school, to then drag in the ones that DON'T have school and set them in a school.
I guess I just didn't like school, so it bugs me when they're taking classes that aren't the fun ones like art, computers, or music.
(To be fair, in this one, they have art class with Uzui, which is... curiously violent, haha.)
Overall, it's not BAD for what it is? But I'm not sold on continuing the series unless it's free (like this one will be for someone else, because free library donation!). I can really only think of one series that does really well with "schooling" the original* characters from a different series, possibly because the "new" series was created as a way to keep the original characters in circulation for conceivably until the creator literally can't make it anymore, vs. running out of ideas at some point.
I can't really imagine making a school-based slapstick version of an otherwise fairly serious story (as this one is) could keep going without getting stale, even if it was a team effort. A pivot to seriousness and thoughtful writing, on the other hand, can sustain a weak(er) premise, just because it gives readers a "hook" beyond "Hey, it's these characters, but now they're in SCHOOL!" or similar "the joke is they're fish out of water" scenarios.
Might be my own feelings on this, but I just can't think of any long-running "gag-a-day" series that really stick with me—I prefer the ones that invest some narrative to them.
*To be fair, it STARTED in school but just rebooted so that ALL THE CHARACTERS meet up again, with significantly fewer deaths and such, haha... er, spoilers.
The funny spin-off series of Kimetsu Academy is brought into the limelight.
Welcome to Kimetsu Academy, where you’ll meet charming and quirky students and teachers! In this book, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Tanjiro are running late for class and must make it on time before Giyu’s bamboo sword catches up with them.
Later, after failing their big math test, Inosuke, Murata, and Zenitsu have to endure a ruthless math lesson with Mr. Shinazugawa.
In another scenario, Zenitsu must redo his art assignment after his explosive art teacher, Mr. Uzui, finds it unsatisfactory. Meanwhile, Nezuko gets her first cavity and has to visit the dentist.
Lastly, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke embark on a mission to order pizza for lunch, but they must do so without being detected. This will prove challenging, given that the Ume and Gyutaro Shabana are also after the pizza.
This manga takes place in Kimetsu Academy! It’s hilarious, and I couldn’t stop laughing while reading it. The spin-off is fantastic, and I’m eagerly waiting for the next one to be published in English. Demon Slayer is the best, and this book made me love it even more!
Zenitsu is still the same old wacky and Nezuko-obsessed guy. Tanjiro is even more badass in Kimetsu High but still polite and kind. Inosuke is as blunt as ever, and Murata is a great character. Giyu is aloof, and Uzui is still his “flamboyant” self! Nezuko is so cute, and Ume, or should I say Daki, is still the villainess we know and love. Recently, I’ve even taken a liking to her. Gyutaro is so protective of his little sister, and it warms my heart.
If you’re a fan of Demon Slayer and love to laugh, you must read this manga! It has some great inspirational messages, too.
Demon Slayer Kimetsu Academy. A spin off to the popular manga and anime. This is more of a comedy based on the characters from the manga. It's definitely a more light hearted feel to this than the actual Manga and it's one that I think you need to be a fan of Demon Slayer to really appreciate in my opinion.
It is a fun light hearted read though and there are some quirky moments that can be funny just without reading the actual Demon Slayer Manga or watching the Anime I just don't think I'm the audience for this one in my personal opinion.
I do like the characters and this has inspired me to check out Demon Slayer maybe in the future to see if I will enjoy it so there is that. And it's an easy read that you will finish in one sitting like I did. So if you're looking for a light hearted read and you're a fan of Demon Slayer check it out.
Verdict ⭐ ⭐ ⭐. Not a bad light hearted read don't think I'm the audience for this one as Ive not checked out Demon Slayer before and you need to be a fan of the original Manga and Anime to understand this. It is more of comedic take and I like that to be honest and there some quirky moments.
This was honestly just a really nice and cute slice of life read of the main cast of demon slayer and after reading everything the cast goes through in the main series… boy do they deserve it. There is one part that is concerning and I have to remind myself that this was written in Japan by Japanese people who do not have the same cultural context around race that Americans do and it isn’t played for laughs based on any stereotypes but god was it still uncomfortable (trust me you will know it when you see it.) But other than that it’s cute, it’s light, it’s not going to do anything that will blow you away but it’s a lot of fun for the demon slayer fan nonetheless.
If you are a demon slayer fan who can enjoy slice of life antics then this is the perfect series for you.
When reading the main Demon Slayer series, one of my favorite parts of each volume might have actually been the Kimetsu Academy sketches at the back. I found them very cute and fun. For that reason, I was quite excited to start this spinoff series.
The stories in this volume are cute, but nothing special. I'll read at least the next volume, because I already have it on hand, but I'm not sure if I'll continue beyond that. I think it will depend on whether or not the series continues to focus on the main trio of boys, or if some of the side characters get chances to be featured in chapters.
Still, this is quite cute, and was a nice little read.
Demon Slayer is one of my favorite animes, and when I saw this new manga series I had to get it!
An alternate universe where some of the Hashira and other characters from Demon Slayer are private school teachers and students. It's absolutely hilarious.
Uzui is an Art Teacher, Giyu is the P.E Teacher, Urokodaki is the Groundskeeper, Sanemi is the Math Teacher, Obanai is the Chemistry Teacher, Kanae is the Biology Teacher, Gyomei is the Civics Teacher, Uzui's three wives work the cafeteria and kiosk, Amane is the Principal, Rengoku is the History teacher and Haganezuka is the Home Ec Teacher.
This was absolutely hilarious and I can't wait to read the rest of the series 😂. I haven't laughed like that in a long time!
