In "Trigger Warning," Annika Rose bares her soul in a profound exploration of dissociative identity disorder (DID), offering a groundbreaking glimpse into the reality of living with multiple identities. With unflinching honesty, Annika delves into the dark corners of the trauma that fractured her sense of self, crafting a narrative that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
For too long, DID has been shrouded in misconception and sensationalism. Through her compelling narrative, Annika Rose dispels the myths, offering a unique perspective that bridges the gap between clinical knowledge and the lived experience.
This book is a must-read for anyone wishing to deepen their understanding of DID. Her memoir serves as a beacon for the therapeutic community, providing invaluable insights into the nuances of trauma-informed care and the significance of a compassionate approach; essentially illuminating the path towards empathy, understanding, and ultimately, healing.
Thank you for sharing your disorder. I think I may have the disorder as well. Unfortunately, family support has been nonexistent due to their inability to accept mental illness and the traumas that have caused it. Instead they have shamed & exploited us causing more trauma leading to my current situation. Can they please add an addendum with information where we can get help? We’re in SoCal. All we have ever wanted is to obtain stability. We have obtained degrees, but have no ability to stabilise & continue to “pick” our abuser whether it’s a dr or an officer. Community resources not only turn us away, but shame us & help our abuser who is ironically a highly intelligent conman fraudulent DHS agent . We so love how well laid out the book is including a timeline of therapy absolutely brilliant! We think your book is an excellent tool to gift to others so they can better recognise, understand, help and de-stigmatise mental health. Their book is an invaluable learning tool for everyone. Maybe someday they can advocate & teach communities that it is a real, non threatening condition. Again we thank them for having the courage to put this out into the universe. They are so loved and appreciated. Looking forward to their next book!
What a book!!! Truly. I went through a range of emotions reading Trigger Warning. Anger over the way an innocent human can be treated by people that supposedly "love" them. Sadness when the dark thoughts started becoming apparent. And so much pride when the author stood back up and took their power back.
This book is a rollercoaster to read in the best way possible. You follow along as tough moments occur one after the other, and just when you think there is no way out, a light in the darkness appears. This story brings awareness to multiple mental illnesses, yet the focus on Dissociative Identity Disorder healed my own alters. We are more thankful than words could ever express. There isn't much representation in today's media that isn't negative.
Thank you(all of you) for being so honest and open with the world. That couldn't have been easy at all. You did it and because of that this beautiful book now exists for everyone that needs it to find.
As a fellow survivor with DID, we highly recommend this book to other DID survivors, their loved ones, and especially to those in the mental health field.
Annika Rose, Hailey, and system do an incredible job explaining what DID is, what it is not, and how it develops. We’re taken on a journey into Hailey’s life, where she discusses the trauma that caused her DID but does so in a way that didn’t trigger us as we’ve been through similar.
She shows us just how lacking our mental health system really is, especially inpatient treatment. It’s a fact that too many therapists simply aren’t equipped to handle DID and the trauma that goes with it.
As a Mental Health therapist, I thank this author for being vulnerable enough to share their heart breaking trauma story which led to the development of their Dissociative Identity Disorder that is often misunderstood. Their story is so powerful & I couldn’t put the book down. Highly recommend to everyone including my fellow clinicians
This emersive and well written memoir pulls at your heart right from the beginning!! Emotional, Moving, and Educational!! Very very highly recommended!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
