She'd had her future perfectly planned. Now? She's not so sure. Isley: Three things I love—quality food, eighties rom coms, and my custom-made planner.
Three things I loathe—internet trolls, traveling, and Walter Paxton.
Anita runs our online news site DFW Daily, and she’s dangling my dream job like the proverbial carrot. Now my weekend getaway to finally meet my online almost-maybe-sort of-boyfriend in LA has become a work trip with the man who irritates me most. So why do I find myself relying on him with every bump in the road (literally and metaphorically)? And why does he smell like a moonlit forest waterfall? Before this trip, my life was all planned out, but now I’m not so sure.
Pax: Three things I love—stargazing, coffee, and pushing Isley’s buttons.
There’s no point in talking about dislikes. It’s more fun to take things in stride and enjoy all that life has to offer. Do I want Isley for a babysitter on this trip? Of course not. Though needling her is almost as fun as rescuing her. There’s plenty of both when nothing on this road trip goes according to her perfect plans. I’m in the driver’s seat, but she’s the one driving me crazy. Only I’m not so sure it’s in a bad way.
A shorter version of this book previously appeared in The 80s Rom-Com Club collection with books from Betsy St. Amant, Teresa Tysinger, Mikal Dawn, Bell Renshaw, and Jennifer Rodewald featuring contemporary twists on classic 80s movies. This newly expanded edition has been fully rewritten with significant changes and is about 30% longer than its predecessor. As with all of Jaycee's books, you can expect plenty of faith-friendly chemistry, banter, and kisses with no spice.
When New Mexico resident and USA Today bestselling author Jaycee Weaver isn't reading or writing, she enjoys dates with her brainiac hubby, drinking coffee, crafting, pretending she's a nature photographer, and making her teenagers cringe.
Jaycee considers herself a recovering perfectionist and frequent hot mess. She does her best to live her faith in action authentically, trusting God to be Lord over the good, the bad, and the ugly even when it’s hard.
To say that I was excited about a longer version of Pax and Isley's story from The 80s Rom-Com Club would be an understatement. Needless to say, I loved their shorter story before and I love the longer one even more, especially as the discussions and scenes regarding faith are flushed out even further. The emphases on prayer, reliance on God, and surrendering to Him make this book both a rollicking adventure and a deeply vulnerable journey at the same time.
I appreciated getting to know the characters’ motivations and fears in this lengthier version, and I thought some of the minor plot edits made their story so endearing that I wanted to meet them in person. Readers looking for a sweet rom-com will find that Sure About You is not only faith-friendly, but it's faith-infused with equal bouts of witticisms and joy that will be sure to put a smile on your face.
Sure About You was a fun rom-com read with forced proximity between two co-workers, enemies-to-lovers, humor, references to the 80's movies, and a trip to LA that doesn't go as planned. I enjoyed the snark and banter between Paxton and Isley and the way they have to figure out their future careers. Isley, a planner, has to learn to let go when they encounter bumps, Interruptions, and detours on their way to LA. If you are looking for a humorous read with a faith thread and romance, check out Sure About You. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What a delightful story about what could go wrong with the best-laid plans. I genuinely love anything Jaycee Weaver writes! She is an author, and I will stop what I’m doing to pick up one of her books because I know I will have a blast reading them. In this story, we find Isley, the over-the-top “don’t bend the rules” kind of individual, who has it all together until she has to deal with Pax, the laid-back, “go-with-the-flow” good-looking charmer kind of guy. They are thrown together, and one thing after another happens to try their patience. This book had me laughing and cringing all at the same time. I can identify with both of them in some way. Jaycee has a wonderful way of making this story flow with crazy dialogue and fun antics. She is a delightful author who spins fun, relatable tales full of enjoyable, entertaining moments that will touch your heart and delight your soul. Whenever I pick up one of her books, I’m blessed. She packs fun, quirky moments and profound life lessons into each of her books. I appreciate that her books aren’t too preachy, but they are real, and I can relate to the characters and what they are going through. I highly recommend you pick this book up for a fun summer read. I was given this book by the author, which did not influence my review in any way; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
What a fun road trip book! And what an eye opening trip this ended up being for both Pax and Isley. These two were definitely opposites in some things, such as Isley’s need for order and control as a contrast to Pax’s easygoing attitude. Yet there were so many more things that these two would learn about each other as they traveled together.
I liked the way their connection, which eventually moved into attraction and affection, developed on this road trip. I think Isley was very surprised by the way Pax actually viewed her, as opposed to things she had been told by other men she had dated. Pax was actually very perceptive. And I loved that Isley began to realize that Pax was not exactly the stereotype she had made him out to be.
This story had lots of fun moments, as well as plenty of swoony and romantic ones, as well. A good faith message flowed throughout and helped connect the characters in a deeper way.

Absolutely delightful romcom! I loved Isley and Pax and their story was super fun to read! I always love this author’s writing and Sure About You is another fantastic read from her! If you’re looking for a faith-friendly, road trip romcom, this book is the perfect choice! Highly recommend!
I received a complimentary ebook copy of this book from the author and publisher! My review was not influenced in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own
"Though I try to pay attention, there's something so easy and sure about the way he prays I'm reminded again how far I've let my own faith slide on my list of priorities. I was raised in a Christian home, and though I never strayed, I've taken my relationship with God for granted. Allowed myself to become complacent. This humble faith he's clearly prioritizing for himself is endearingly heartfelt."
Isley has goals. She is willing to put in the time to make them happen. But she does feel underappreciated at times. Walter Paxton, aka Pax, might have a few ideas. But he is also content to stay where is he is at and just get by. Being asked to handle a conference together seems unlikely. So does the connection that they might find when they look beneath the surface.
This book contains so many fun elements - opposites attract, road trip adventures, workplace mishaps and an overly used planner. I could relate to both characters - wanting everything to work out just so AND being satisfied enough with life to not want to make any changes. Finding balance is hard.
Learning to get to know someone takes efforts. Sometimes we can assume that we do not have things in common when we actually do. First impressions are not accurate. I loved how Isley and Pax found their way to connecting with each other.
I originally read this novel when it was a part of a novella collection. I felt like it was missing just a bit, so when the author added more storyline and depth, I was thrilled with the result. I am so glad that I was able to read the book again right before it came out. This review is my idea, and all opinions are my own.
Weaver is a go-to author for charming and witty romantic comedies. Sure About You is a must-read for any fan of contemporary rom-com. It kept me highly entertained!
Isley and Pax are definitely misunderstanding each other in the beginning but as they are forced to spend a few days together, they come to realize their misconceptions about the other and from there the romance is pretty amazing. The faith element isn't overdone by any means, yet brings a calming flow to their sometimes stormy waters. I think the biggest drawback for me was some of the slang and the 80s references. And I guess that says I'm old. LOL
I received an electronic copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review.
What a delightful, funny, and wonderfully written romance! That kiss! Oh that kiss! I may have forgot to breathe, just for a moment. But that's how good it is. Pax and Isley....um yeah. The chemistry is there. The banter is there. The faith thread is there. The swooning is there. That's all you really need to know. Romance fans are in for a treat with Sure About You! Weaver shows just how amazing she can write, not just romance but humor as well. Big smile as I read the entire story :)
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is a delightful story about two very opposite people finding common ground on an unplanned road trip. How do you pass hours of time driving halfway across the country with your professional nemesis? Pax and Isley manage to do it with old school classic icebreaker games. In the process, they find the true person behind the facade each presents to the world, and they learn to trust God to fulfill His purpose in their lives.
I received a free advance copy of this story from the author via BookFunnel and voluntarily chose to share my review.
I so enjoyed this story. A human with flaws spends unexpected time with another flawed human who has recently returned to his faith, well done. The story line and characters were great, but the faith woven in…the way Pax saw her was inspirational. I didn’t want to put it down and finished it in a day. My only regret is that there were about half a dozen syntax errors making me wish Ms Weaver had a pre-reader group to help edit. I highly recommend this read.
He knew he was good but he didn’t put in the effort to be accurate. She was his editor and gavehim notice . She hates him! Not because he wasn’t nice. He was happy, and supportive but because he wasn’t using his potential. They ended up travelling together for work That’s when their true selves showed
If you enjoy a good rom-com then you’ll enjoy Sure About You. Author Jaycee Weaver will keep you laughing as you read about Isley and Pax. They can’t stand each other. Or can they? I’m not sure they even know.
Opposites attract, and if anything can go wrong it will in this story. Grab a copy and enjoy!
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
Ah, is there anything a writer loves more than a story about writers and editors? Well, yes, a well-crafted story about those people. The author paints her characters so well, the story develops like a mind-movie, certainly Hallmark worthy. Rom-com lovers will adore it, especially since it also mentions some well-known rom-coms. An easy, delightful read, perfect for the beach or wherever you go.
Fun, sweet and cute story. Two colleagues that don't like each other go to a conference together and everything goes wrong, the flight grounded and she is so uptight. He arranges for a car and the fun begins. Fun car trip games, lots of arguments and tension. Can they find their HEA? Read on for an enjoyable story, I really enjoyed this sweet story.
This delightful book is brimming with romance, love, humor, and faith. Enemies to lovers is my favorite scenario. The characters are fantastic. I can't wait to read Jaycee Weaver's next novel because she always writes so beautifully.
