About the author

Christopher R. Seitz (PhD, Yale University) is senior research professor of biblical interpretation at Wycliffe College, University of Toronto, in Toronto, Ontario. He previously taught at the University of St. Andrews and Yale University. He is the author or editor of numerous books, including The Character of Christian Scripture, Prophecy and Hermeneutics, The Goodly Fellowship of the Prophets, and commentaries on Isaiah 1-39 and 40-66. Seitz is also an ordained Episcopal priest.

This is an interesting and reflective volume on the theme of God as creator in the book of Job and the Psalter.

This book helped me see the book of Job and the Psalms in ways I never had before. Again and again, it shows how God lets creation speak—a reminder that even the winds and the waves obey Him. Since reading this book, alongside the Psalms and a poem by Mary Oliver where she writes, “love for the earth and love for you are having such a long conversation in my heart,” I haven’t viewed the world around me through the same lens.
