In a desperate bid to regain control of her family’s ranch, she applies for a job as a Pinkerton agent. John Langston was pressed into sailing on a pirate ship when he was young. Now that he’s free, he finds himself bored senseless with his new life as a farmer. When he finds out the Pinkertons are recruiting new agents — no experience required — he jumps at the opportunity to juggle adventure and danger once again. SECOND EDITION: This book was previously part of The Pinkerton Matchmaker Series. It has since been revised, re-edited, and recovered to be a part of its own Western Brides Undercover Series.
I enjoyed this book so much! A lot of great characters that contributed to this story. This is probably one of my favorite Pinkerton books, a little different then the rest. The uniqueness to the plot pulled in my emotions right away and I was hooked. Fun, flirty beautiful romance with gun drawn action to keep many a reader happy! Looking forward to reading Jolene’s story. Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
I have loved this series since the beginning! A little different storyline which was so good and I fell right in from the beginning. Oh, what a tangled web Lorelai and John find themselves in! John, a Pinkerton agent has an assignment to become a weave himself into a ranch and find out who has been stealing cattle. He woes her as part of his undercover job, but his feelings become real. Unfortunately everything comes out and she finds out when she decides to become a Pinkerton agent just to help nab the villians. When she finds out John is one too, well, let's just say it is not pretty. She really did love him but it all seems a lie. Of all things though she has to marry her to become a real agent! An adventure right from the start with hearts, secrets, criminals and true love all mixed in to this journey to happy ever after. Jo Grafford weaves another amazing story in this series that you will absolutely adore!
An Agent for Lorelai is book 70 in Jo Grafford’s The Pinkerton Matchmaker series. Each of the books is a stand alone historical romance based on the female’s in the Pinkerton Detective Agency. In An Agent for Lorelai the reader isn’t quite sure at times who is the good guy and who is the bad guy - but that is by design. Lorelai knows that her ranch is in danger but isn’t quite sure who she can trust. Will she trust the wrong person? Does Dante really love her or is it just a cover story? Jo Grafford does a great job of developing the characters. An Agent for Lorelai is a clean romance and an easy read. I look forward to reading other books in the series. I would not have a problem adding An Agent for Lorelai to a K-12 Christian school library. I think middle schoolers and up would enjoy it. I received a complimentary e-copy of An Agent for Lorelai. This is my honest review.
In this installment of the Pinkerton detectives, you have to keep track of who is who! Lorelai is engaged to Dante and then she isn't, and then she marries him! There's a lot going on in this book that you have to follow, it can be confusing! Who on Lorelai's ranch are the good guys and who are the good ones? Is Dante even his real name? How will Lorelai and her father save the ranch? You've got romance, cattle rustlers, a ranch that needs saving, and oh yeah, that pesky Pinkerton rule that you have to marry your partner for convenience sake! The characters are great! There's a lot of action and fun conversation between characters! You'll definitely want to pick up this book!
An Agent for Lorelai by Jo Grafford is book 70 of The Pinkerton Matchmaker. This book has many twists and turns. It is full of adventure, danger, mystery, cattle rustling and tackles some things from the Wild West that can cause issues. It is complicated at times but that is what makes it a good read. I keep thing what can they come up with for the Pinkerton Matchmaker story that they have not done but the next story always surprises me with a turn.
I received this book from the author . These opinions are my own.
Lorelei believes everything is going well on her ranch. She has some good people working for her and she is in love with one of them. When fingers point to him as a rustler she is blooming mad. So mad she signs on to be a Pinkerton agent and get married. It turns out her agent husband, John is the one she is in love with. With his deception and cattle rustlers threatening her ranch, she has to trust in her husband and herself to bring the rustlers down. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Lorelai was so in love with her future husband. I felt so badly for her when she and her dad discovered that this so perfect man was not the person she thought he was. She was heartbroken. Then she decided to take things into her own hands and became a Pinkerton agent. And, surprise! She discovered that he was undercover. Lorelai was glad that he was not robbing her ranch, but John had to work hard to convince Lorelai that his feelings for her were real and not just from his undercover assignment. I really enjoyed this story with the training and adventure, plus lots of loving.
Lorilea discovers that her fiance, Dante is stealing cattle from her and her father's ranch. When she discovers he's actually working undercover as a pinkerton agent to stop a cattle rustling ring, she is hurt. First because he was "stealing" cattle and second because he lied. She becomes a lady agent and they have a marriage of convenience. She thinks his proposal was just part of being undercover. It was real for him. He must prove his feelings while they work to save her cattle from rustlers.
Loved John and Lorelai's story!!! I feel in love with John in The Sailor and the Surgeon and am soooo glad he finally has his HEA!! John and Lorelai got off to a rocky start, but boy, was it worth it!! Lorelai figured out he was definitely worth keeping, and John loved her from the start!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
Thinking she had been fooled she signs up to be an agent forcing the agent assigned her to follow thru with the marriage. She plans to keep her ranch and possibly her man. Now they have to jointly deal with the cattle rustlers and his partner. A great short read with enough action, teasing and love to keep you reading.
Dante aka John is a scoundrel and Lorelai 's father knows it,but Lorelai is in love and she is going to get revenge. As a Pinkerton agent she can marry John aka Dante and save her ranch and cattle from vicious rustlers. This is one of the most complicated of this series and a great mysterious adventure.
I so enjoyed getting to know Lorelai. This story was so much fun, even with the mystery to solve as Pinkerton Agents. Loved all the wonderful characters too! I was able to read this in one night, it was so good. If you like clean stories with mysteries to solve, I highly recommend 'An Agent for Lorelai'. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.
I loved this addition to the Pinkerton Matchmaker series, John and Lorelai are great characters that have you invested from the start. The first half of the book breaks Lorelai's heart, but in true Pinkerton style she steals her spine and allows her fire and sass to come forward, leaving John awestruck. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
This begins the story of the men & women who work to discover who is stealing cattle in a western valley area. Lorelai & John have an interesting relationship & I like them in this story. I have read all the books in this series. John & Lorelai discover some things about the wrestlers but not the BOSS. I was given a copy by the author. I choose to write this review.
A great story of 8 chapters. The repartee between Lorelei & what it's funny. She loves to tease him. She had quit her secretary job to care for her Dad & save the ranch. An interesting story. It would be interesting to learn how many ladies the Pinkerton investigators actually hired. Jobs for women were scarce in that period.
I'm really enjoying this series and all the characters and their stories. John and Lorelai are enamored with each other from the beginning but things get in the way and they have things to work through to get their HEA. The story captivated me from the beginning. I look forward to the next book in the series.
A Western Brides Undercover Romance with interesting characters and a few unexpected twists. Lorelai Woods trying to save her family ranch from a cattle rustling gang applies for a job as a Pinkerton agent. Unfortunately, they need her to serve undercover as the fake bride of a fellow agent John Langston. A quick read - feel good, HAF novella.
Wow!! This book is so exciting. So many twists and turns. It seems nobody is who they claim to be. I could not put this book down. It raised my heart up on it's tippy toes, only to plunge it down to the lowest valley. Then right back up again. I would give it 10 stars if I could,
I really enjoyed this book! Lorelei joined The Pinkerton Agency and had to marry another agent to be a team. Luckily she and her husband fell in love so there was no problem! I recommend this book to anyone who likes romance stories!
I have read more than a few Jo Grafford books as well as several Pinkerton books. This story does not disappoint. It's a quick read, but it's satisfying. I recommend this book.
Different plot in this historical western about a young lady attempting to run her sick father's ranch amongst the influx of rustlers, not knowing whom to trust. Love gets in the way until reality hits and the Pinkertons become involved. Lots of back and forth quips between characters makes it an entertaining but good clean read.
