Spoilers ahead
Like Tex and Abby, Hawk met Tildy when she was having car trouble. Tildy comes from a rich but abusive home. Her father doesn't really care and her mother viciously pinches her frequently to correct her behavior, her best friend is sleeping with the man Tildy's expected to marry so Tildy is a bit of a lost soul. When she meets Hawk her cherished medallion snaps and she thinks it's a sign he's the guy for her. I liked Tildy ok enough, she was sweet and even though she didn't stand up to her parents until the end I sympathized with her. She just seemed young and a bit lost.
Hawk is one of those manwhores who one expects to have an STD,in other words an uber manwhore. We actually get a scene with him and a woman before he met Tildy and then one.....well I'll get to that later. Anyways Hawk meets Tildy and though she's young he wants her and invites her back. When Sarah tells him she overheard Tildy saying she planned to marry Hawk he treats her coldy and pulls another woman to him to enforce the idea that there won't be anything serious between him and Tildy.
Anyways these two agree to be friends until Hawk's cousin kidnaps her, though Hawk realises that he cares for her there's still a lot of back and forth between them.
Tildy then gets engaged to the man her parents expect her to marry but she doesn't want him to have her virginity so she gets drunk and intends to give it away. Hawk intervenes and takes her to his house where they eventually have sex. When Tildy talks about the next time Hawk doesn't answer and then she remembers he's mister one and done so she leaves before he wakes up.
Then more back and forth and angry sex between them even though Tildy is officially wearing another man's ring. Said fiance doesn't care though and offers Hawk money to keep fucking his fiancee, just with protection cuz he's not raising a half breed baby. How did he come to stipulate protection you ask?because Tildy had angry sex with Hawk, left her panties behind and went to lunch with her fiance and his parents and he pushed his finger into.her and so found out his erstwhile fiancee was no longer pure as the driven snow 😨😳 So Hawk tells Tildy ,they argue and stay way from each other.
Tildy's wedding plans continue and Hawk's angry and bitter so he gets drunk one night and FUCKS ANOTHER WOMAN in an alley. Tex the resident psychologist finds him, counsels him and drops him home. Now at this point my stomach was rolling so I started skimming but if I understand correctly Tex calls Tildy who we left about to.have sex with her fiance but Hawk thinks he's dreaming and they have sex. When she finds the scrapes the OW left he tells her the OW wasn't her which is fine because Tildy tells him her fiance isn't him either. I'm not sure if Tildy had sex with her fiance but at this point it doesn't even matter.***
So Tex again counsels Hawk he makes a grand gesture,Tildy leaves her parents and all their money behind and rides off into the sunset with her reformed manwhore Sioux hero 😨
The best parts of this book was finally getting a hero who was willing to torture the bad guy to find his girl, though Shooter ended up being the one to do it my bloodthirsty heart was satisfied.
The part I was most looking forward too was an update on Sarah and her baby. I was rooting for a miracle for her because though she may have seemed desperate for a baby I totally understood her reasons. Thankfully they get a baby girl who we'll hopefully hear more about.
This could've been a good book but alas I despised Hawk and his (hopefully) diseased riddled dick and his lack of a goddamed backbone! I'm still going to read the other books however, ever hopeful that the remaining heroes don't make me feel to lose my lunch!to

LET ME TELL YOU ALL THE THINGS I HATE ABOUT THIS F!CKING BOOK!!!! LITERALLY EVERYTHING. I HATED EVERY. F!CKING. THING. ABOUT. THIS. BULLSHIT. BOOK.
So mad I don't even know if I can get through this review. I actually cried when he cheated on her.
Tildy (22, virgin, doormat, spineless) is having car trouble when Hawk (33, whore, coward, bastard, cheating piece-of-shit) comes to save the day.
Tildy is a grown f*cking woman who lives under her rich parents thumb, allowing her mother to manipulate and abuse her. She works at the family bank, drives the family car, is being forced to accept a marriage proposal for someone she doesn't even like, and has no life of her own - all because her parents dictate it. I could partially sympathize with that in the beginning - but that sympathy only goes so far.
Hawk still blames himself for his dick of a cousin going to prison. Said cousin is now 33+ years old and cries and whines that Hawk doesn't spend time with him anymore. Hawk is a tit about it and just simpers and feels guilty. Until the cousin attacks and nearly rapes Tildy. He eventually kidnaps Tildy with the plans to kill her. The first time the cousin attacked Tildy, he ripped her panties off and the author allows us to believe she was raped. Tildy didn't want anyone to know so she kept it a secret. ALL of this is a trope I despise in fics because it's a stupid fucking trope and it's played out. There's a difference when a rape is a part of the story and when an author just uses it because they aren't creative enough to think up anything else traumatic for the character to go through. OH and let's not forget this is nearly EXACTLY what happened with Slick in the first book!!!
Anyway - stupid sh!t happens and at about the 87% mark, Hawk takes her virginity. Let's discuss that wonderful, magical moment.

WHAT THE F!CK IS THAT?!?!?! Then they have sex one more time, then hate f!ck in an alley, then he goes to the bar and gets plastered and takes another woman to the alley and f!cks her too!!! I HATE HIM SO MUCH. Oh - and Tildy is too cowardly to tell Tate (her useless fiancé) and her parents no, so she decides to f!ck Tate because she might as well just go with the flow. Right??
I started off with this series so excited because I thought I had finally got something new to listen to. I WAS SO WRONG. I WISH I HAD NEVER MET YOU.
I'm off to murder this book. I plan to stab it, set it on fire, then throw it off a cliff.

Dropped rating to 1 star. Couldn’t stand Hawk, and Tildy was a bit meh. I have now deleted this off my kindle so I don’t accidentally read it again.

First I have to say, I loved Shooter. After reading reviews, I avoided Tex because I knew I would hate it. But I loved Hawk's character from the first book and was really excited for this book.
I was enjoying the book and how Tildy and Hawk's relationship came about. And then at 89% of the book, it all just fell apart.
I skimmed to the end after that and didn't even care about the HEA because to me, it wasn't really believable.
It was just such a let down after enjoying the majority of the story.

It has been a while since I read MC romance. Miss West slowly becomes my go to author for MC romance.
The story of Hawk is slow. Miss West focusing on the politic of the club, not just the romance. The chemistry between Hawk and Tilly is sweet and slow burn. I like how Hawk insisted to be friend.
Even though Garret is the bad guy, I secretly wish he can have his own book. I think he deserves to be forgiven. The plot is interesting with the mix of brotherhood love. Although I want to see more drama on the story, this book is good enough.

Unfortunately, I think Dahlia West has managed to ruin another hero. Hawk was a cowardly jerk. Tildy was an incredible idiot. How come no one said to her, "hey, you can get another job and support yourself like a normal person?" Even Slick managed to come across rather jerky in this installment.

Wow! I loved it! This is one of my favorite series out there. The men of Burnout never let me down. I had been anxious to find out more about Hawk for a while now. Luckily, this book didn't disappoint. We learn more about the mysterious Hawk while he gets to know Tildy, who has some secrets of her own. Their journey definitely takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride. They had me feeling excited, nervous, charmed, depressed, overjoyed, and in love.
I love the way Dahlia West makes me fall in love with her characters. I can't deny that I enjoy all of the focus on Hawk and Tildy, but the time spent with the guys, Slick, and Abby keeps me cracking up or saying, "Awww!" because we could all use friends like that.
Hawk is definitely one of my favorites so far. This series keeps getting better and better, and I can't wait for Easy's story next. Do yourself a favor and check this one out!

After the disappointment of Tex's story, the Burnout series is back on track with Hawk and Tildy's opposites-attract romance.
Tildy and Hayley/Sarah from book #1 share several similarities. They are both quiet and unassuming, and they have both been subject to terrible abuse. In some ways, Tildy's suffering is even worse than the Sarah endured as Tildy's abusers are the people who should care for her the most - her parents. It is a testament to Tildy's strength and resilience that she has never lost herself or her ability to care for others.
Hawk is a typical womanizer who meets his match in Tildy. It is entertaining to see such a large and
menacing man brought to his knees by a wisp of a girl. There is one problematic episode, namely it isn't too bad, but it is disappointing nonetheless.
There is a minor suspense plot that has a couple of excellent action scenes, but the main focus is Hawk and Tildy's relationship and their need to reconcile their differences. Their connection builds slowly but surely, and the intensity of their feelings is believable despite the different worlds they come from.
As with the first book, the camaraderie between the Burnout brothers is amazing and would make this a worthwhile read even without the charming romance. Easy's book is next and I look forward to meeting the woman who will capture his heart.

I was excited, knowing Hawk is a big hunk of a Native American and Tildy a sweet innocent virgin. It started off with 5*... dwindling down to 2*.
I still enjoy it when Tildy continues to be the good daughter, accepting her mother's abuse and resign to their plans for her to marry her 'boyfriend' whom she knew is banging her close friend. That's fine, I thought, now that she's met Hawk she'll do something about it...right??!! *Sigh* She didn't want to leave because leaving means her parents would cut her off -no Mercedes, job, status.
Now Hawk, he didn't even bother to ask her to be with him because "he's unworthy" and as an auto mechanic, he wouldn't be able to provide for her. Okay, that's fine too, they're having sex now and all will be well...nope, she just wears her big ass engagement ring and go knock on Hawk's door. Hawk, of course, do her and then while getting drunk at a bar the following evening (or maybe the evening after that, I'm speed reading at this point), also do another woman (coz he was 'hard' thinking 'bout Tildy and her sweet pu$$y). Tildy came to her senses (at the very last moment *facepalm*) and decides Hawk is worth leaving her abusive parents and the a$$hole boyfriend for.

Ugh. The one star I am giving this is for the narrator of the audiobook. Thassit.
This is an example of letting the genre do all the work for you. We get a hot, handsome hero who is a firm believer in hit it and quit it. He makes no connections to women at all. Then we get a heroine who has all the personality of a wet napkin.
Because this is a romance and we know he is the hero and she is the heroine, we are supposed to accept their rather banal interactions as true love. Nothing about them could convince me this was a couple who earned an HEA. By the time we got to the end, I kept wondering where was the substance?
Also, she is a virtual laundry list of stuff I hate in a heroine: Naive, no backbone, rather stupid, acts much younger than her age, suffers in noble silence. Just ugh.
I liked the two other books by this author that I read. And I liked the hero from the previous books. But this heroine and this story was wasted on him.

This book was my third one in this series by this author. Shooterwas a solid 5 star read for me. Tex was a 4 star read. Hawk was a very intriguing hot, alpha male in those books and I looked forward to his story. Hawk comes with tons of emotional baggage as a result of his father's abandonment, racial prejudice because of his Sioux heritage, scars from his military service and loss of his military brothers to name a few. Tildy is a 22 young woman also carrying emotional baggage from parental physical abuse and basically being deprived of love by anyone other than a former nanny. She is a college graduate who works at the family owned bank and still wears clothes her mother chooses for her to wear. The plot revolves around Tildy meeting Hawk, Hawk rejecting Tildy because of fear of commitment, Hawk's cousin kidnapping Tildy and leaving her to die because he is jealous of Hawk's attention to Tildy and how Hawk/Tildy's relationship finally ends. Overall it was a good read but one that I will not read again. I expected Hawk to be stronger and not so wishy washy about I want her, I don't want her, I want her, etc. His excuses to his brothers, Shooter, Tex, etc were lame to me. Very seldom do I use the acronym TSTL but I can't help but feel that way about Tildy. I can see Tildy being emotionally scarred from how she has been treated her whole life, but most of the time she acted like what I would expect from a young teenage girl dealing with her first infatuation. She absolutely groveled to Hawk until one episode towards the end of the book, where she grew a little backbone and then lost it. I would have at least liked to have seen her try to become a little independent rather than continuing on to marry someone she didn't love because she didn't have a job, a car or a place to live. Hawk exhibited all of the alpha traits when another man touched her (except for the fiance) but basically turned into a wimp about the emotional relationship.
I loved seeing again the interaction between the former book characters, Shooter, Sarah, Tex, Abby and Easy. There is a HEA for Hawk/Tildy.

Brief thoughts on Hawk... compared to Shade's Fall, since I read the two so close together (pretty much Hawk immediately after Shade's)...
I finished Hawk.... and I actually really liked it. More than Shade's Fall (and that sucked me in, even though I had issues with it). I'm far more forgiving than of It's down to the emotion and motivation behind it. Shade's is selfish and about getting his jollies, Hawk's is self-doubt and self-punishment. Plus Hawk let Tildy have her own emotions and reactions and let he let her grow "into herself" without bullying her.
, it was anger, and punishing himself, and the whole self fulfilling prophesy thing since he didn't think he was good enough for Tildy nor would he even admit that he really loved and wanted her. For Tildy, she had very little control over her life and not enough belief in herself to fight for a man who she believes does't love her or want her for anything permanent. I thought her phrase "At least then I'd be worth something." was very telling. So yeah, and totally believed that once they both removed their heads from less than sunny places and admitted they loved and wanted each other, and got together, there would totally be a HEA.

Tildy grew up over privileged money wise. She was a great heroine because not only was she faced with some of the lowest forms of life to deal with but she did it with such innocence and grace. She was sheltered but also controlled by her parents, abused by them and manipulated by most everyone else. She was their cash cow in a way but an inconvenience in another.
Hawk, a former Army Ranger and Sioux Indian, raised a little hell in his younger days but became a good man. I only mentioned his race because they mentioned it several times in the story. He was a huge man whore. He wasn't a dick about it. He was honest and upfront and the women knew the score before they had sex with him. He knows he's a hot mess and freely admits it. His dad walked out on his family and Hawk doesn't trust himself not to do the same thing.
I had two problems with this book. First, Hawk, who loves his family and helps provide for them, thinks he would be a crappy spouse and father. Secondly, Hawk, after he knows that he loves Tildy, has sex with another woman. They were not a couple yet but still. Other than those things, I loved the book and am on to the next one.

I was looking forward to Hawk's story. I purchased my own copy from amazon today as I enjoyed it thoroughly and also was lucky enough to be privy to an earlier draft earlier in the last week (with no expectations of any reciprocation).
This is not the usual; a polite nor convenience romance story of boy meets girl in which all problems and unlikeable character traits are magically fixed then happily ever after into the sunset, nor is this tale on the other side of the coin of a story of angst for the sake of melodrama.
In my opinion a Good and interesting approach to story telling, of people that have had life happen to them and the way they chose (consciously or unconsciously) to cope and react and what may allow/poke or prod them to change and grow. This is definitely a romance and a good read.

Really enjoyed Shooter, disliked Tex and came somewhere in the middle with Hawk. Mostly, found the h very awkward and disliked how often she was humiliated and forgiving about it. I didn't find her inability to stand up for herself endearing. All supporting characters participated in humiliating her at one time or another and I do mean ALL characters. Friends, family, hero, people who were supposed to be kind and loyal.
The writing was professional and generally kept me interested although I didn't find the H particularly heroic or even very Alpha, if that's what your looking for. While he was described as big, dangerous he was more of a wimp with the h and a cheater too (yes he was sorry).

Hawk and Tildy are both damaged, he from what he had to do for a friend when they were Army rangers during wartime and she from a family and a life that just doesn't give her any happiness. I think some readers might see this story as Hawk saving Tildy, but I think they really save each other. The reason they both could change and move forward into a happier life was each other. After the shock of Tex's story, Hawk's was refreshing. I also was happy to see that the editing was better - the problem with words missing from sentences was still there but definitely not to the extent as in Shooter.

I'm starting to lose faith in this author. The first book in the series (Shooter) was really good, but the last two have been disappointing. I'm interested in reading Easy's story, so I may try one more.... fingers crossed, it better be good or I'm done!

Hawk and Tildy were a good match. I definitely enjoyed innocent Tildy and how everyone thought she was crazy at first. I think Hawk could have responded to her a little bit better but hey he had to learn not to be an ass. the dialog here was not quite as fun as in Shooter but the character development was nice. Again, there was not really insta love here other than Tildy thinking that it was a sign that she was supposed to be with him because of her necklace breaking as she touched him the first time. Hawk didn't seem to have much reason to not get into a relationship with her. That element seemed a bit contrived and made him seem like he wasn't quite a grown up. Maybe the whole he was Sioux thing could have been developed more. Being Sioux didn't seem to have much bearing on his life so why include it? Still enjoyable.

first read this series three years ago. loved it then, still very much enjoying it this time round.
not so much mc but the guys are a brotherhood, the survivors of an army ranger team who faced the worst horrors of war, and their bikes are important to them .. they accept themselves as bikers but Shooter was brought up in a 1%er club and never wanted that particular conditioning but accepted the good of that lifestyle and encompassed it with his team on their return home. a tight knit group that find strength and give strength to each other.
lots of triggers for various types of abuse so those who are affected by that type of storyline should avoid the series.
great alpha males ... sassy, quirky females who have great inner strengths. romances you can't help but love.
very well written, with continuing storylines behind the romances.

I feel like I keep repeating myself with this series by saying "I have mixed feelings about this book" but the same holds true for "Hawk." I was loving the book until close to about 90% of the way through when we got the, 'are you kidding me?' moment that just kind of ruined Hawk in my eyes. I had a lot of hope for Hawk and he had potential. Others seem to agree with me as well since he completely screwed up things for me. Of course, Tildy wasn't exactly innocent and guilt-free in the situation. They both were cowards and messed up in my opinion, but they also both completely blew it off and didn't discuss it past a few words. I didn't really get that.
Of course, I really didn't get much of their relationship. There wasn't any real romance at all. They were afraid to enter a relationship with the other. I can understand the hesitation though. Tildy was physically and mentally abused by her bully of a mother her whole life. I seriously hated that woman and was so glad when Tildy finally grew a backbone in the end and just said 'enough.' But she had been neglected and relegated to a life without love until she met Hawk, so it's understandable that she was afraid to trust someone else with her heart. Hawk grew up with a deadbeat dad and a mom who struggled to make ends meet. He didn't want to end up like his dad, so he just avoided committing to someone in hopes that he'd never be the one to leave like his dad. Again, understandable, but when this avoidance makes up 90% of the book, it gets a bit annoying.
I loved the action/suspense that came in this book though. Some parts shocked me - I didn't see the one person as being the bad guy in the book, so it's nice to be surprised. This alone made me bump up my rating with an extra star.
Hawk did redeem himself in my eyes in the end though. What he did for Tildy was incredibly sweet and thoughtful, definitely unexpected. Tildy's backbone grew a lot by the end as well and her big heart was obvious. The way she was there for Slick and Shooter was admirable (this whole part surprised me too...didn't see that twist coming). I look forward to see how this part plays out in the next book and am ready to finally Easy's story since he seems like a pretty funny character.
As a Native American myself (but I'm a member of an East Coast tribe not living on a res), I appreciated the attention brought to the living conditions, battles with alcoholism, poverty, etc. that plague Native Americans today. So kudos to Dahlia West for bringing these issues to the public eye.

Hawk Red Cloud has no plans on attaching himself to any woman, sure he likes sleeping with them but that is it about it. Tildy Fletcher meets Hawk when her car breaks down, he is instantly attracted and invites her out. However Tildy who has been sheltered her whole life makes a statement that freaks him out and he has no plans of pursuing her. Tildy gets herself in a bit of trouble and Hawk decides he can give her friendship, but then Tildy asks for more and he is willing but at a distance. It seems like both are feeling the pull but neither know what to do about it.
I wanted to like this and thought the beginning was okay and the middle got better, however towards the end it was ruined for me. Hawk who was my favorite of all the characters, I just wanted to throttle. He is clueless, and Tildy is so naive I just can't believe she is that dumb. Just didn't do it for me.

Well....I liked Hawk's book better than Tex but not as much as Shooter...it was different but yet still the same (older man/younger woman) and had plenty of interaction with the other boys in the club. Tildy was a pitiful heroine (abused by her own parents, both physically and emotionally as well as ridiculed by her supposed best girlfriend) and supposed to be engaged to a spoiled social climbing jerk. When she meets Hawk she is fascinated, attracted and feeling very insecure because she is after all, a plain-Jane looking virgin and Hawk is a sexy man-whore who has a different women in his bed every night.
There was plenty of action in this one and a mystery to be solved and all ends as it should.

5 "Yes She Nailed It" Stars!
I loved this!! I loved Hawk, I loved Tildy, I loved them together! Their chemistry was off the charts and they were H.O.T! This was so so good!
I was captivated by this story from start to finish... I couldn't put it down. It had everything, suspense, action, angst, sweet romance, heart break, and of course great supporting characters. You also get a continuation of the cliffhanger we were left with at the end of "Slick" but there seems to be still more to come on that front...

Not bad. The MC portion SUPER low key. The romance was odd. A lot of push and pull. I would have liked to have seen some resolution with heroine's parents. The heroine was a bit Mary Sue and acted like a doormat though she has reasons but I expected the hero and his friends to be a little less judgmental. Funny how Tex completely turned me off completely in his book but I liked him again in this one. He's the only one who acted like he really cared how Tildy felt while the others were quick to label her.

It took me awhile to reorient myself to the members of this group, Slick and Vegas and Tex and Chris et al. Tex and Vegas's story was pretty much the definition of TMI, but Hawk and Tildy were a sweet, engrossing story. Tildy is not the typical romance heroine, she's actually quite old school with her relationship with her parents and her naiveté with Hawk. I'm not sure that Hawk responding to her danger and vulnerability was really the "healthiest" of reasons for the romance to work, but it didn't take me out of the story at the time.
