A tattoo gets them in trouble… He will get them out.

After years of cultivating an undercover identity, Brody West is finally off the case and free to live a life of his own. All that time spent in the company of criminals and killers left him a little jaded… and with an identity crisis. He isn’t sure who he is anymore, or who he wants to be.

To give him time to think, he takes a few days off to go fishing. On his way out of town, he makes a routine stop at the bank and finds himself flirting with the girl behind the counter.

But his flirtation is cut short when criminals burst into the bank and shoot her right before his eyes.

In attempt to administer first aid, Brody reveals a tattoo on his back. A mark that will drag him and the girl into the kind of situation he was trying to get away from. But he can’t walk away because he’s the only thing capable of keeping Taylor alive and bringing down the guys who shot her—guys who are seriously dangerous.

This book can be read as a stand-alone.

This was an okay adult contemporary romance, but I had issues with it.

The characters in this started out okay, but I was a bit sick of them by the end of the book. Taylor was brave, but stupidly brave at times, and Brody was pretty much the same way.

The storyline in this started out being about the bank robbery, then turned into Brody protecting Taylor from being killed. This was all very well, but I just got bored of people trying to kill them, it was just repetitive.
There were two sex scenes in this book, but I didn’t really enjoy them. I just didn’t like them, which was a shame because the previous book was pretty good.
6 out of 10.

So what to say about this one? I liked it but didn't love it. I had to hear Brody's thoughts about his past with women just a bit too much. He was kind of a pig with his thoughts. I really liked Taylor. She was super sweet and strong at the same time. I know this author can write amazing heroes but Brody just wasn't really one for me.

Oh and I have to mention that the first time and every other that they have sex, it's unprotected sex. No talk of condoms, std status, nothing. Ummm this H was a BIG manwhore and she doesn't even THINK about asking for protection, 🤢.

Sadly this one didn’t work for me. It started off really promising with the action and suspense of a bank robbery and the H and h getting swept into further danger. This is insta-attraction, but I sometimes enjoy quickly developed romances when the main characters are under pressure and in peril. Here, it felt more like lust and I couldn’t understand the deeper feelings. The H also came across as overly cocky as the story progressed. His manwhore ways were also brought up more than I would have liked. The h was likable even when she made dangerous decisions, she wasn’t whiny or weepy despite what was happening and she actually showed serious bravery a couple of times.

I thought disbelief had to be suspended more further into the book as the criminals ramped up the danger. Maybe in another mood I could have gone along for the ride, but this was a miss. The story had two steamy scenes with one in the epilogue, which was a year in the future and featured a HEA of them getting engaged. Usually I enjoy last minute steam before the book ends, but in this case it lessened the romance of the proposal since I already felt like the romance lacked depth. Or I was just feeling nitpicky at that point.

Written in first person, dual POV. No ow/om drama and neither were virgins (H’s past is mentioned a couple times and h’s is also discussed; despite H being a manwhore, safe sex did not happen and no discussion about it either).

Enjoyable read. I thought the plot was great and more interesting than the actual characters especially the hero. They lacked a little depth and therefore I couldn't get emotionally invested in them. Overall a quick, fun and easy read.

BLURB: Brody, has not long finished a two year undercover mission bringing down the bad guy.
'In order to clean up the streets, someone had to get dirty. And I got dirty... the kind of dirt that soap couldn't wash away.'

Brody has had to re-arrange his morals in order to fight for the greater good. Losing himself in the process.
'It was easy to forget I was no longer working on a case, that I was no longer pretending to be someone else. I'd spent so much time with other people (mostly criminals) and not being myself that I honestly wasn't sure who I was anymore.'

He's lonely and lost. But he's also on vacation.
'So what did a guy with essentially no life outside of work do when he found himself with time off? He went fishing.'

Before he leaves, he goes to the bank to make a withdrawal. After flirting with Taylor, the girl behind the counter, the bank is held up at gunpoint, robbed, and Taylor shot. But when one of the criminals spots Brody's gang tattoo, he's mistaken for one of them and forced to keep up the pretense.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

'Tattoo' is the 4th book in this series that I have read. I really think Hebert is good at writing action and broken alpha males. Her book 'Text' proved that she is really good at writing suspense too. I'd love to see some more of that.

Brody was a great diamond in the rough character, he felt like a bent cop, determined to bend the rules if he saw it fit. Taylor fell at the wayside a little because Brody was much more interesting. She was likeable though, a tomboy with a side of girly and a bit of attitude. I also enjoyed the storyline, things were kept fresh and it kept pace.

For me, 'Tattoo' is VERY close to a 4 star read for me. A little more about Taylor and a little less of the dodgy lines that were used during sex. For eg... 'steely, unbending rod', 'he speared me with what could only be described as an unyielding sword', 'unyielding thickness', 'unyielding flesh', 'riding him like he was a wild bull and I was a cowboy', 'his hot seed spilled inside me, and my body gulped it in like I was a dying man in need of a drink'.

I would recommend this to readers who enjoy romance-action and law enforcer heroes. I wouldn't recommend this to readers who are bothered by romances that progress very quickly.

Taylor saw him before she was forced into a situation she wasn't sure she would survive. Brody doesn't know what to think of the beautiful woman has inserted herself into a dangerous situation, he wants to protect her but before he can his tattoo puts him on the radar. Brody reacts swiftly and keeps Taylor close, but will they both survive the dangerous game being played.

This was so different then what I expected. The chemistry is off the chart with this couple. I thought the whole premise was original, can't wait to read more in this series.

3.5 Tatted Up,Undercover Stars!
Fun, Exciting Read with a Sweet Romance!

The Review:
This was my first book by this author but I can honestly say it won't be my last. Tattoo is the seventh novel in the stand alone Take It Off series and was just a joy to read.

Story/Character...
Taylor is working her way up the food chain in her father's bank and this day, she’s a teller. When she comes face to face with the incredibly handsome Body West who just stepped up to her counter, she’s immediately taken with his good looks and his charm but she quickly recovers her wits and gets down to business.

Then all hell breaks loose!

Brody West walks into a bank to withdraw some cash for a fishing trip, heading out of town for vacation after two years on assignment. While flirting with the incredibly sexy teller, the bank gets held up and suddenly he’s in the middle of another life and death situation. Yes, I said another. Because as it turns out, there’s way more to Brody than great looks and a penchant for flirting.

Thoughts...
This book starts out quick and just keeps right on going with severe situations, life-threatening moments and enough action and hair-raising moments to keep you reading. Though there wasn’t a lot of character development, I enjoyed Taylor and Brody. Taylor was tough and fierce when it came to protecting herself and Brody. And Brody was just a fantastic alpha-male who found he wanted more than a one night stand.

Though these two had chemistry, I found myself wanting more steam and more “getting to know you” moments between this couple. It was kind of an insta-love scenario and given their introduction and following scenes were so touch and go, it kind of reminded me of the the movie Speed where Sandra Bullock’s character, Annie, says, “...relationships that start under intense circumstances, they never last.”

But I can say, these two were super sweet together.

And... I LOVED reading about my area. Some of the places in this book, I’ve been to many times. Its always fun when you can connect to locations from a book!

The Wrap Up:
I enjoyed this quick, fast paced read. And I’m definitely going to read other books in this series.

Ever want a day off to just do nothing? Well, for the first time in a very long time, that is what undercover cop, Brody, our hero of Tattoo by Cambria Herbert, has one of those. A day to do nothing. He decides to go fishing but on the way out of town, swings by the bank. The bank that just-so happens to get robbed while he's in it. Talk about a series of unfortunate events.

This book is fast, it picks up right from the get-go. You have no lulling moments, you just have a lot of action where you get completely sucked in and just keep flipping pages! You meet our heroine, Taylor, when she's helping Brody at the bank. They have chemistry right off the bat, flirting over the teller counter. So when the bank gets robbed and Taylor gets shot, what is a good guy like Brody to do? He helps her, of course! In the process however, he reveals a tattoo that makes everything go from unfortunate to disastrous.

A bit of background, since you can read most of what I said in the synopsis. You actually meet Brody for the first time in Tipsy, if you've read it. He's an undercover cop that helps the hero of that book. That doesn't mean that Tattoo isn't a standalone, it is! In fact, all the books in the Take It Off series are standalones, some of them just link but without having to read the other ones to do it.

Brody and Taylor have to figure out how to get out of the situation they are in. The writing here is fantastic, hot, and will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time. If you're wondering, yes, there is an HEA and no cliffhanger here!! As I said before, standalone! It is also written from an alternating first person POV. This is one of those books I devoured in under a three hour mark!!

A full five stars and a definite recommendation for Tattoo! In fact, if you loved Text, you will love Tattoo!!

This one was pretty good compared to some of the others!

I liked both the main characters in this one. Brody tried his best to protect Taylor, but Taylor showed that she didn't need protecting all the time, as she could protect herself.

The opening of this was good, and the rest of the book was pretty good too. Definately the best one in the series for me so far.

Really close to 4.5 stars. Another great, short book from Ms. Hebert. This one has an undercover cop, starting a long deserved vacation after being undercover for two years, innocently waiting in line at his bank to withdraw some money. The bank is suddenly overtaken by a gang intent on robbery. During the course of the robbery they shoot point blank the teller that was helping the cop. He immediately goes into protective mode to try and save her life. The robbers recognize a tattoo the cop has on his back (he had taken his shirt off to try and stem the blood flow from the teller). That tattoo indicates to other gang members that he, too, belongs to that gang. The robbers let the cop escape with them and the cop takes the teller with them intending to get her to a hospital and then to bust the robber/gang members. Instead they end up in one of the gang's hideouts. A bond develops between the cop and the teller and the rest of the book deals with their relationship and revenge by the gang members after they find out about the undercover cop.

This is a wonderful romance and does have some suspense and thrills along the way. Both main characters are strong people who communicate with each other. Therefore, any angsty moments don't last long because they actually tell each other what's bothering them.

Another great book in Ms. Hebert's "T" series. It is a standalone.

Did I friggin love this book? YES I DID!
This book scratched every itch I had. It was hot and sexy, it was interesting right off the bat and it kept me turning the pages.
The hero was very alpha and very protective of the heroine. The heroine was smart, sexy and very much into the hero. The bad guys were nasty and you loved to hate them.
No games were played with these two - just good ol' falling in love while trying to stay alive.
I highly recommend this book as well as the whole series Take It Off by Cambria Hebert. I haven't read them all (I think this is my 5th to read out of the 7)- but I haven't been disappointed in any of them. Love this author and plan on reading the other two as well as anymore that pop up by her.
You don't have to read this series in order - they are all stand alones.

What will you do when boringness strike, when you are out of books to read?
Oh, I will find something, even if I have dismissed the whole serie and an author.....
And I wont be wrong....

I already wrote that I could not find why "Take it off" serie has ratings above 4.00 and I gave all the books before 3 stars. Now, I am glad I read this one.... It redeem all the other ones!

Taylor and Brody!! Hot Cop and down to earth, girlie but not girlie rich girl! I just loved every word of this book. I can not say enough about Cambria Hebert and her TAKE IT OFF series. I loved this one so much and am working my way through the series.
I love every bad situations this couple gets into and how this hot cop reacts to all things. He empowers Taylor and gives her choices which was amazingly refreshing.

This book has been sitting on my KU shelf for....months. Maybe even a year. I have a horrible habit of seeing a book that looks good, getting it on KU and then reading something else.

But I've made it my mission this January to clear out as much of my KU library as possible.

I know I've started this book in the past and put it down and it was about me, not the book. I just wasn't in the mood. I'll admit that I had a moment of "oh no" when Taylor has a TSTL moment and steps in front of a gun, getting shot. But I pushed on and kept reading.

I can't say I loved the book but it was decent. I liked the trust that was there between Brody and Taylor. The action was good throughout the book. There were some twists and turns I didn't see coming (which was nice).

But at the same time, I also wish that Brody's cover hadn't been blown so early/easily. I just felt like it was too easy.

Overall, the book was decent and a fun read.

Let's talk about all that smexiness that is Brody shall we? First of all if he doesn't know what kind of juice ya like he'll bring one of everything, "using his teeth, he ripped open a pack of what looked like Advil and dumped several pills into his palm. "I wasn't sure what kind of Gatorade you like." The look on his face was sheepish. I looked down to see five bottles of the stuff lying across the cot." Second I just plain loved him, "he sat back, abandoning his first aid efforts. "I find it interesting that I just told you my secret to recon and all you heard was the amount of time I spent making out." He's just so damn sexy, "I tried to push up off him so I could sit back and see if I did any damage, but he growled and pulled me back. "I'm not done kissing you yet," he rumbled." He's the kind of guy whose touchy feely, "careful of her injured arm, I let her slide down the front of my body. When her a** hit my crotch, my hips moved without thought and thrust toward her, bringing my throbbing length right up against her." He sometimes second guesses his choices, "oh, yeah. We were going fishing. Who the hell came up with that idea? Sex was a much better way to pass the time." And then there are times when the man is a complete BEAST, "I grabbed her a**. "I worked up an appetite." The thing I love most about Cambria's books is that the more books come out the more she grows as a writer and the sexier the content seems to be as she gets more confidence in herself and I always enjoy watching her grow as an artist.

Brody, Brody, Brody....swoon! Being a huge fan of Cambria Hebert and the Take It Off series I was excited to sign up to review the latest release Tattoo.

Brody is an under cover cop who has been living on the wrong side of the law in order to take down a corrupt MC club. At the end of his 2 year assignment he is in dire need of some rest and relaxation. Fate has other plans. A stop at the bank for some cash before a much needed fishing trip lands him in the path of Taylor and a bank robbery.

Taylor has lived a sheltered life, daughter of a rich banker who wants her to learn the business from the ground up, is now working at her dad's bank. Who would have thought that a hostage situation would be the beginning of a love story. Taylor’s guts and determination to come out of this disaster alive bring Brody a whole plateful of troubles……

Brody is aaaaallllll man, no nonsense, calm, commanding, brave & HAWT!!! Like most Alphas we read about it’s hysterical to watch him tied up in knots over a woman when he least expects it and Taylor pushes all his buttons and drives him to distraction and she doesn’t even know it.

In this suspenseful, gripping read Taylor and Brody try to stay alive while they explore the sizzling chemistry they feel towards one another.

I don’t know how she does it but Cambria has made Brody my top favourite man in this series, - shallow much? I can't wait to see her top this one but I have no doubt that she will!

Almost DNF’d at 34% due to this gem:

Was already skimming by that point so could either DNF or dry heave and hope a man came by to wipe my brow while I persevered. Don't know where I got the balls.

Insta-love, fantasyland police work, inept baddies, pesky journalism, police brutality, predictable and cliché ridden.

Another hit!!!

Another hit!!!

I can't say enough about this series, this book in particular. The humor Cambria weaves into this book was so much fun to read. I love a hot, tattooed alpha male who knows what he wants and goes after it. Enter Taylor. No spoiled little rich girl here. She stands up for what is right and doesn't make apologies for it. When this unlikely duo come together it is hotter than summers in the south. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Another great read from Cambria. I loved how we were thrown into this story right from chapter one and there was never a dull moment. Brody was a fantastic lead and he was just the right amount of strong and alpha. Taylor was a pretty fun lead female too and I enjoyed seeing their chemistry and love play out over the pages. If you're a fan of Cambria, then this one can not be missed!

Tattoo was the 7th book in Cambria’s Take It Off Series or the 2nd book in the 2nd Box Set. It wasn’t my favorite but I still enjoyed it. As I have said many times, if you go in thinking this Series was meant to be fast, sexy, fun, adventurous reads then you will like them! They are a fun escape from the world around you!

Brody lived a good portion of his life undercover. Finding time for himself to relax was almost impossible. So of course the day he planned to go fishing, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, or was he?

It was just another day at the bank for Taylor until robbers held her at gun point. Her life flashed in front of her eyes as the gun discharged. Brody’s training had him moving on auto pilot. His number one goal was to get her to safety but would his “job” put them in more danger?

Being shot and held captive might be the end of the road for Taylor unless Brody can figure out how to get her out. Would he succeed or would his cover be blown? How long would they be in danger?

The romance was a little fast and forced for me, but they did go through a major life changing event together. I liked how protective Brody was and how dedicated her was to his job and to Taylor. I liked that we met Brody before; he was Slater from Tipsy. Overall, it was a fun, fast paced, kept you guessing, romance.

Written in first person from an alternating dual POV, this can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA.

This was my first book by this author. I picked it out of my unread kindle library to meet the reading challenge of a book with a black title on the cover.

Taylor is a young woman who is adored by her wealthy father. Brody is a cop who has spent the last several years undercover to bust a gang that has been dealing in a lot of illegal things. When they are both present at a bank robbery, it leads to Brody's false past being exposed and both of them landing in an even more dangerous situation. I liked both characters. Brody has some demons and Taylor has a tendency to let her mouth get her in trouble. I loved her feisty red-headed heroine. She is brave and strong in a tough situation. I loved Brody's protective nature and his passion to keep Taylor safe. They have some open door intimate scenes that are spicy and tender.

Set in Raleigh, North Carolina, this 185 page book takes place in under a week with the exception of the epilogue. Full of action and danger, both characters sustain injuries along the way. I know some reviews note the shortage of steamy scenes, but honestly given the timeframe and of the story and the length of the book it felt reasonable to me. This was an enjoyable first read by this author and I look forward to reading more by her.

I ALMOST stopped the read. I was so bummed by my last try at this series that I though this one was going to be lame as well lol Glad I pulled through.
I LOVED Brody. Even though the read is short and the robbery scene took most of the book, the main characters were so endearing.
For me Brody's character was almost a cartoon lol he was a touch too crazy. His “thuggish behavior” as Taylor said, was sooo good to imagine. He's the good guy with a side of bad decisions. I love him!

“What the hell is going on?” Brody asked.
“Your woman is whacked,” Snake said, backing away from me.
“I like my bitches crazy,” Brody said. I considered turning the gun on him

I loved their bond at the robbery, It didn't felt forced. The way he acted toward her through the whole ordeal was so sweet. I was turning pages like crazy.
This book while short was so much fun to read.
For sure was my favorite of the series. The hero is the cherry on the top for me.
Love it!

3.7 out of 5 stars

The first part of this book started out very promising but then it just went downhill. The attribute of the title and how it played into the story was great like the others I have read in the series. However, the story just went down in quality. It wasn't terrible but the first few chapters vs the remainder of the book was very showing. I guess you could say that the action sequences were pretty much the best part of the book. The romance aspect wasn't terrible but I just didn't care much for the hero once him and the heroine got away from the robbers in the first part of the book. I will continue on reading book 9 and possibly 11 I believe because those titles intrigued me but this is definitely not the best series from this author that I have read.....

STORYLINE:
There`s a bank robbery. Taylor who works at this day behind the counter, flirting before with the sexy stranger in line, hides and calls 911. But then things start to go downhill from there and a tattoo of the stranger, Brody make things worse. Brody's secret identity as an undercover cop is in danger and complicates things. Now he's the only one to keep Taylor alive.

MY OPINION:
The beginning was really exciting and a rollercoaster. And then the tension between Brody and Taylor, great. Some decisions at the second half - taking her to the lake and getting shot and bringing her in danger when he`s supposed to protect her - not so intelligent. But I really liked how Brody stood up to her rich father and didn`t take his money. But not telling her father about the lake incident? And how it developed from there... was a bit too predictable.
All in all an entertaining read.

Tattoo is the seventh instalment in this series and i'm slowly making my way trough them all.

This one is about an undercover cop who is finally on a break but trouble finds him even at the bank. He meets this girl and they both end up togheter and all that jazz. This serie isn't getting any better or worse. Its fun, quick and easy to read in between books or when you just need to start reading again after a slump. Cambria's writing style is so easy and fun to read and i always fly trough her books like i can't get enough. I don't have much to say about this book or the series because lets be honest they are all mostly the same. I'm going to keep reading them, having fun for a day.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I’ve lost count with how many times that I’ve read this book as it’s one of my go to reads from Cambria’s Take It Off Series but I’ve just never gotten around to posting a review so here goes. I enjoyed this book. I really liked the connection between Brody and Taylor and their chemistry was off the charts. If you don’t like insta-love books you’re not going to rate any of the Take It Off Series books since they’ll all very fast paced instant attraction books but due to the situation they’re in I don’t mind that they formed a bond as Taylor had to rely on Brody to keep her safe. I liked that Brody didn’t give a sh*t who Taylor’s dad was, he ignored the fact that Mr Shaw didn’t like him and thought it was cool that he didn’t take the $100k that Mr Shaw offered him to protect Taylor until the last bank robber was arrested as he just wanted to spend more time with her and didn’t care about the money. I really liked the banter between Taylor and Brody from their first interaction and loved that even though Taylor comes from money she never judge the way Brody looked or acted and she was really down to earth. I’m looking forward to reading the next book. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
