Cherry Estates #2

Deep in the Sheets

Do you ever read a book and question what have you done in your life that led you down this path to be reading this book around midnight.

Yeah this was that book for me and I’ve read some wild ass shit before. Between the incredibly cringy dialogue and the grammar mistake, I was contemplating my life choices. Look I’m not one to judge grammar or spelling but there were multiple sentences that just didn’t make any sense in the kindle ebook version I read. Even if the sentence made sense, it was extremely confusing and I had to reread the sentence or paragraph multiple times to understand what it happening.

Something about the pet name being “boy” just gave me the heebie-jeebies because I heavily associate that word with the slavery and how male African Americans were/are called that in order to emasculate or belittle them. I understand that it’s between two presumably white men but like ???? It’s a little weird to have a very submissive character who gets told what to do and tied up/blind folded be called “boy” lovingly. I just couldn’t get past it.

Look I can ignore the cheesy dialogue and I am usually good about turning my brain off to enjoy these books, but man I could not do it with this book.

Tom was a fucking mess, and I hated him from the start because he was already in a relationship with his girlfriend, Jennifer, and he always talked about her. The way he talked about how he had a quickie inside his office and how Jax accidentally found a new and used condom inside his drawers was gross! How he proposes to her even though he doesn't love her because he is lonely as fuck and has a companion—even a gold digger—is better than being alone. What the f!

Tim had a girlfriend, and how he talked about his sexual activities with her was a deal-breaker. I didn't enjoy this book one bit.

Tim is dumped by his girlfriend, Jennifer, before the office's Christmas party. He starts drinking heavily. His intern, Jax, tries to stop him from getting drunker but Tim is not having that. He grabs Jax and takes him to his office where he offers Jax the place of Jennifer. The next morning Tim is hungover and trying to remember what happened at the party. He is suspended from his job as CEO. Jax decides to take Tim's offer. Both know they will not fall in love. But emotions and intellect do not always match. Then Jennifer returns saying she will marry Tim. What will happen with the feelings beginning between Tim and Jax? Where does Jennifer fit?

I enjoyed this story. Tim is a jerk, right from the start. Jax is trying hard to please Tim at work. Tim finds fault constantly. Jax is looking at the money Tim offered him. He knows it will pay off his student loans. I understand Jax's reasoning. I liked how Jax stood up to Tim every time Tim did or said something inappropriate. Jax and Tim both gave as good as they got. I loved when Jax realized he was developing feelings for Tim and set out to stop them. Tim was happy to oblige. Both walked away from that encounter with neither one winning. Then when Jennifer (the gold digger) walks back into Tim's place, Jax runs. I understand perfectly. I was glad that Cliff, Tim's BFF, tells him to straighten it out with Jax. He does not mince his words.

I liked Dave, Tim's CFO. He also tells Tim how it is but not as rawly as Jax does. Tim gives advice to Dave, as Dave is going through a divorce. The advice is to go after what will make you happy. Tim finally takes his own advice. I was happy it all worked out. I loved Jax's dad's reaction.

I cannot wait to dive into the next book.

Jax was lucky and got an internship at the biggest accounting firm in Boston and is now the personal assistant to Timothy Hark, billionaire, CEO, and one of the most handsome men. He is a jerk, has a girlfriend and Jax can't stop gawking at him and fantasising that he is his Daddy. Then at the office Christmas party, their strictly professional relationship takes a turn when he drags Jax into an empty conference room by his collar to kiss him and call him his Boy. They can't keep their hands off each other. Then, Tim’s ex-girlfriend walks through the door, saying she wants to marry him. Jax could lose him forever if he says yes but if he tells anyone about their forbidden romance, he can kiss his degree, job and new Daddy goodbye.

It was a strange story as it started with a bullying and abuse of power relationship but then ended with gentleness and love. I get that Tim was emotionally stunted but it was a bit of a quick change for someone who was so aggressive. Jax was missing some character development as for most of the story he was just a sex toy. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

This was an age gap billionaire romance that starts as an office romance between an intern and his arrogant boss.

I was wanting something quick and not too deep in between reads and this was a bit of fun and it kept me interested. I would have liked if it had a proper Daddy/boy feel to it and also the epilogue was quite vague. It would have been nice to know more of their futures.

Tim and Jax

Another good daddy boy story. It has good steamy moments and the overall story kept me interested. It’s a quick read and the characters are well written and have good chemistry.

Way to catch feelings so damn fast, Tim contradicted himself a lot and the hot and cold attitude rather than drawing me in, it pissed me off

Dnf 28% I understand this is supposed to be an “enemies to lovers” but verbal and physical violence is a no in my book.

Not as good as book 1, IMO, but I still enjoyed it and look forward to book 3. A few more typos in this one than the last as well.

Still a very entertaining read, as well as sexy. I liked that the “agreement” didn’t last long because that’s not one of the tropes I like too much. I almost didn’t read it because of that, but glad I gave it a chance.

A bit too rushed in places. Could have used with a bit more time exploring the romance.
