Demon's Ascent: A Progression Fantasy LitRPG

Rate this book
In a world where darkness lurks, one girl's fate will shatter centuries of stagnation.

Elania's life takes an unexpected turn when demon-worshiping cultists summon her to their world, aiming to revive their dead god. When their hated foe strikes, she escapes into Eladu's darkest depths.

Amidst savage predators and underground monsters, Elania discovers her newfound abilities are both a formidable ally and a haunting burden that threatens to reshape her very soul.

To climb higher towards civilization means she must contend with anti-demon sentiment and those who would use her as a source of arcane power. But Elania is not alone in her struggles.

Yolani, an arcane artificer, battling a sinister plot, finds her fate inexplicably linked to Elania's. Together, they might just be the key to each other's survival.

In this story the line between ally and foe blurs, and the elements of the mysterious [System] offers Elania power and entrapment in equal measure.

Only one thing is Elania isn't going to give up who she is without a fight.

Join Elania on her quest to uncover the secrets of an enigmatic underground civilization and confront those who would dictate her destiny!

Content warnings:
-Fantasy racism aimed toward the POV character.
-Loss of a parent from frist person perspective

This book is a nice, fun "woke up in a fantasy world" story.

The world is interesting, and has much room for further worldbuilding in the future of the series.
The main character's perspective is interesting and, given her circumstances, feels believable despite the rapid adaptation to massive change.
The second main character feels better developped than most in the genre pretty much from the get-go.
The slight romantic subplot is a bit underdevelopped. I feel it could have been either further explored, or removed entirely.
The game-like "system" seems consistent, witouth getting crunchy.
The character is a bit overpowered in some aspects, without feeling untouchable.
The resolution of the main conflict felt a bit "Deus Ex Machina" for my preferences.
There doesn't feel like there are many clear threads dangling at the end to force a sequel.

The writing is clear, fluid, and pleasant to read. The dialogue is believable. The fairly small amount of exposition is well framed within the context.

Overal, it's a nice, relaxing time if you're looking for the escapism this genre specialises in.
I look forward to the rest of this story!.

Good take on the LitRPG Genre. A bit of a slow start but it definitely picked up with the introduction of the second main character. The relationship between the main characters was the highlight of the story for me although it is along the lines of "Oh here is my soulmate".

Author claims on discord to use Ai to write 20k a day, so I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty of this garbage come out.

Disappointing. Gave up after 20% into the book.
The MC get isekai-ed into the an another world and has her race changed to demon. Sounds like the start of a badass adventure. The only problem it seems is that the main character seems to be too innocent and clueless like a wayward young teen. At times, she sounds like she is lacking some survival instinct or aggression to just live.If you ever read Phantasm by maxlex or Azarinth Healer by Rhaegar, you have female characters who understand what it needs to survive. Whether it is the hard determination to fight to live or cunning intelligence to use her resources to get the job done. Demon's Ascent does not do this and the book does not grab the reader's attention. She sounds too "Earth weak", as she as she begs and whines in the hopes that someone saves her. I am sure, that she gets "strong" in the future. However, the first few chapters is what determines if the reader wants to see that growth. The author fails to do so; as the MC seems to stare into nothing, wondering what she should be doing; even if she is build to be overpowered.
Truthfully, fails to create a female protagonist that the reader would admire.

I received a free review edition through supporting the author on patreon for their other works.

The story is your classic isekai. The protagonist (Elania) is summoned to another world that has magic and a video game system. The only things setting it apart are the environment (the story is set in an expansive underground cave system) and that Elania is a demon.

Both are explored fairly well, particularly the relationship between humanity and demons.

The overall plot is unfortunately pretty simplistic though and there's a romance in the latter half of the book that feels incredibly forced (love at first sight levels of dumb).

All in all, I recommend trying it if you just want your isekai fix and don't care that it's nothing you haven't seen before.

I picked this book at whim. I've been an RPG gamer back in the day, and I thought this was a kind of fun take on it. It was also my first foray into the whole Isekai format. However, I stayed for the world-building promise and the relationship between the two main characters. I've listened to an audiobook of the series, and it played out well. I will say I agreed with another reviewer that the beginning was slow when I first read it. However, upon the second time through the book, I found that it wasn't as slow as I remembered. If you like fantasy with some RPG elements, along with a bit of romance, I'd recommend the whole series. I look forward to reading more from this author.

the title is full circle haha

I remember reading up to like ch 20 something then just forgetting about now when I saw on Amazon after a few years I decided to get an see if it was better then the little I read on Royalroad.

It was better then I thought a blend of dark fantasy and Minecraft logic with the world was built. The chacthers are all there own persons no one is unimportant just not nessary for the protagonist just a world she’s thrown into to survive.

Do the only problem I had was the skill letters has at times you put the wrong one like on page 263.

Chekhov's Denial

There's a certain level of joy in seeing the beats of a story line up so you can figure out where things are heading. There's a significantly higher level of joy when you see where things are heading and all of a sudden things swerve and spiral and oh dear lord take the wheel because who knows where we're going to end up. This is the latter.

Had a great time reading this book. The two leads are charming and I found the world to be interesting. I can't wait for future books and hope they will reveal more info on the purpose of the divine cities.

Really fun

This was quite a fun read. The characters were well done with lots of action. The stats system is a bit clunky, but that might be just a me thing. All in all, it's well worth the read.

Highly recommended.

Read via Audible. It's a fun litrpg story. The system messages in the sto6do get annoying as the story progresses. If reading the book, these could be skimmed over, but in the Audible version, you kinda have to put up with them. All in all, a fun story.

A good bit of progression sprinkled with character building at the beginning. Set up into later books also well done.

This was a good book. I enjoyed the reader and will look for other titles she's read. Similar to Wandering Inn series by PirateAba.

Truly, I’m so thankful to have found this genre. It’s addicting, and this is no exception. The action, setting, main characters. I very much also enjoyed the unique take on demons. Not all, certainly, but most portray demons as the bad guy, but in this, it makes you wonder: “what if demons were behaving not so hot, not because of their nature, but due to the circumstances.” Very well done.:)
