After making a promise to leave the street life behind, a shocking revelation forces Animal back into the game to face his greatest opponent yet.
After years of war on the streets the man known only as Animal is finally able to hang up his guns. He's paid his debt to society for the crimes he's committed, and thanks to the sacrifice made by the father he barely knew, old scores have been settled. For the first time in his life, he's able to find the peace that had eluded him for so long and settle down with his wife Gucci and their son T.J. Animal's future is looking bright—that is, until someone from his past resurfaces with a shocking revelation.
When Animal's former lover, Red Sonja, shows up on his doorstep with a little girl, claiming Animal is the father, he and Gucci immediately fear it’s a ploy for money. But Red Sonja has come to collect a debt of a different kind, one that can only be paid in blood. A powerful man is hunting Red Sonja and her daughter, and she calls on Animal to stop him—permanently.
Animal is forced to break the promise he made to his wife upon his release from prison and once again picks up his guns. To keep his daughter and her mother safe, Animal sets out on a mission of murder, but this isn’t just any man Red Sonja has sent him after, it's one of the most powerful drug dealers in the country—her father.
In 2002 K'wan hit the scene with his debut novel Gangsta, under Triple Crown Publications. It was the first novel released by the budding house and would eventually become the building block for what is now a multimillion dollar company. What started as a therapeutic release went on to become a part of urban-lit history and an Essence bestseller, as well as drawing rave reviews overseas. After penning his second novel, Road Dawgz (2003), K'wan drew the attention of St. Martins press. The literary powerhouse quickly signed K'wan to a multi-book deal, the first of which being Street Dreams (2004). In 2008 he received the Black Author of the year award from Black Press Radio for the novella Blow. Since his insertion into the publishing world K'wan has been featured in Vibe, Pages, King, Felon, Big News, The Library Journal, Entertainment Weekly, The New York Press, Clutch and most notably Time Magazine, to name a few. He was also interviewed by MTV News for a feature on Hip-Hop fiction, and a guest on Power 105s morning show as well as NPR (national public radio). In addition to being an accomplished author, K'wan is also a motivational speaker, mentor to at risk children and the C.E.O of Black Dawn, Inc. K'wan currently resides in New Jersey where he is working on his next novel.
Hmm that little girl going to be just like her daddy. That little boy I hope he doesn't be all sensitive like his mama. Celeste seems sticky lol gotta watch us quite ones lmao. But yes I'm enjoying this book definitely. And I think Ophelia is Ashanti little sister that his mole sold to that guy because of what it said in the book about how she recognize him. Omg I'm so irritated lol like poor kids . Heck I know I don't like either Gucci or Red Sonja but it so sad that Gucci ass died. But in other news I hope nothing happens to them kids and Animal get them back. I have to agree with Ashanti about Sonja ass. And it will a surprise for Lilith when she finds out Ophelia is Ashanti sister tuh! I'm hopping she gets murk . In my mind I think Animal going to die but I hope not. Can't wait for part 4 to come out.
This was probably my least favorite of the series. It appeared to be more of a filler book. There was certainly some action but it was missing something. I feel like Book 2 set us up for events I expected to take place in Book 3 that just didn't happen. It felt a bit rushed and I don't think this one is even as long as the others.I didn't get too much of Animal in this book, and being that he's the main character I was a bit disappointed. There was a lot of background stories on side characters like Kane and Abel. I feel like it also focused more on the Black Lotus' story which is fine but this wasn't her book. Hopefully Animal 4 will be all that this book set it up to be.
This book was an incredible disappointment from K'wan. I am not even sure where to begin with the let downs. For starters, I cannot even recall the last time I read a book that was 240 pages from K'wan, especially regarding Animal. The last two books were either close to or over 400 pages. Next, there were the typos. I do not know if the book was rushed or the editor was not paying attention but there were repeated typos. I still do not know if a character's name should be spelled Kahn or Khan. Then there is the the development of the story. Red Sonja showing up with a child was an excellent cliffhanger, to end Animal II, but what happens next is stretching. The botched kidnapping of someone and all the drama in the club is not even believable. I stopped reading the incredulous scenes at one point because I was so LIVID. The escape, innocent civilians...I mean absolutely absurd. Lastly, there were all the flashbacks. I felt countless pages were wasted on copy and paste from previous books. K'wan has been weaving an intricate story regarding Animal an everything was believable/possible up until this book. I do not know what direction he is trying to go in but it is unfathomable. I feel as if this book was written to seduce fans as to why Animal will always be Animal but it lacked the elaborate narrative and sustenance that K'wan has consistently delivered with the Hood Rat series. I pray he is not turning into the authors, whom know they have a fan base, and simply release books without the same passion that captivated fans from inception. I am not sure if I will read the next book, because I cried a little bit after reading the book. I was just that disappointed. I am sure there are fans that will praise K'wan no matter what, but I cannot on this one.
I am a big K'wan fan. But, this book was somewhat of a departure from his other books. It was short and there were typos. I also thought the way he handled the Red Sonja arrival was a little... Different than he would have before. The dialogue between Gucci and Red Sonja was unrealistic and not like his usual. Let's see what the next book brings. I am disappointed by the ending.
Imagine being on a rollercoaster ride that jerks you at take off, at a steep incline, then drops you, giving your belly that flip, at top speed. As you catch your breath you are then at the climb of the tracks knowing you are going to start screaming any moment, bracing yourself for the thrill. That is my description of Revelations.
This was a quick episodic novella about Red Sonja and a bit about Black Lotus. I flew through it in a few hours. I will continue on with 4.5. I didn't buy book 4 Last Rites.
This book was such a disappointment. First off it was only 200 pages. So many typos and such a short unbelievable plot. I just dont understand how K'wan could keep us waiting for so long and give us this crap. I don't think I will be reading the other one. I am BEYOOOOOOOOND disappointed that I bought this book. I also hated how he spent so much time explaining the characters (like someone is reading the book who didnt read the previous ones). It made me so angry considering the book was so short as it is, to be wasting valuable time explaining scenarios we already knew about. I am just so disappointed, and must say this is one of his worst books ever.
I DO NOT RECOMMENND THIS. I doubt if I will read the next one because I am so done.
Yessssss Animal is at it again with a knock out performance with new found sister and Ashanti in tow. I sooooo cant wait till the saga continues the way it ended was just soooo wrong to leave me on the edge of my seat I dont know what Animal is going to do to his baby mama Red Sonja if Gucci doesnt come back from this one. I knew Red Sonja was going to be trouble. I was going to be PISSED if Ashanti and Animal went out like that getting arrested inside the club trying to kidnap George but yessssss they got away I was sweating bullets I though my boo was gone......Cant wait book 4!!!!!!! #TeamAnimal
Kwan, Kwan u did the damn thang. I want Animal n the next book to man up. I don't let no broad come to your home n disrespect your wife, I don't care who she is. Red Sonja is foul n u know this. I sho hope Gucci ain't dead. Please let the children be ok. I can't wait till the next book, don't make me wait long. U did this. What's up with the first n fifteen? Come on with the come on. Yall better one click this. My kindle is still smoking. This deserves a twenty. Kwan did this, u hear me!!!!
Tamia, Brandon, Cynthia, Dominic and the crew are back in book #3 of the Exposed series. Brandon and Cynthia are planning their wedding and Tamia is staying a business with the help of Dominic. All of the questions from turd first trail books are answered in this book. As usual, there are many twists and turns that will have your emotions all over the place. My hat is off to Naomi Chase for delivering an excellent series!!!
Somehow I wish the books in the Animal series were longer. I keep waiting for "Gideon" to show up. It's a shame I am almost done with this series. K'wan if I could ask two things from you. 1 Longer books 700 pages minimum (paper back). 2. More books 4 is not enough. Can we get a book with Black lotus.
I don't know why everyone's review is saying that they were disappointed in A3, when I found it to be better than expected. Other people's reviews is what made me do a review for A3 . I thought that when Animal left out to help out Kahllah & Ashanti on their mission against Gucci's wishes & just moments later Red Sonja would arrive at the doorstep to greet Gucci, it seemed as though RS would've bumped into Animal who had left around the time that she would've been arriving to Gucci & Animal's crib. It's almost as if RS WANTED THE RUN IN WITH GUCCI, TO RATTLE HER, BEFORE SHE DUMPED THE IDEA OF A KID ON ANIMAL. At any rate, I didn't like RS's arrival nor did I like how she spoke to Gucci, who SHOULD HAVE KICKED RS OUT! I didn't like that Khallah had gotten SA during that mission. Also, I WONDERED WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF HER ENTIRE PURPOSE IN THIS BOOK. I must've skipped over ALL of Khallah's scenes when they weren't with Animal, Gucci, or Ashanti. Upon their arrival to NYC (to attempt to kidnap George), I thought the fight scene between CAIN/KANE & ASHANTI WAS ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING SCENES IN THE BOOK. When Animal called Gucci, who was in LA, from NY & SHE HUNG UP ON HIM, I THOUGHT: GOOD ON GUCCI FOR NOT BEING DOWN TO HEAR THE BS COMING FROM HER MAN, WHO LEFT HER WITH NOT ONLY THEIR SON BUT WITH HIS EXLOVER'S DAUGHTER CELESTE TO TAKE CARE OF WHILE HE WENT OFF WITH EX-LOVER/BM RED SONJA! Little did we know that THAT WOULD BE THEIR LAST INTERACTION WITH ONE ANOTHER FOR THE REST OF THE BOOK & NEARLY THE ENTIRE SERIES, THAT IS, UNTIL TOWARDS THE END OF BOOK 5. THAT ENDING (IN A4) WHERE WE ALL KNEW THAT RS WOULD SHOW HER TRUE COLORS AFTER DAMN NEAR GETTING ANIMAL, ASHANTI, CAIN/KANE, ABEL, & ZO POUND KILLED DURING THAT MISSION AT THE DOCKSHAD ME SHAKING MY HEAD.
Whew! *Spoiler Alert* I knew it! I knew it! Is it me or did Red Sonja not seem this devious and nasty in the other book? A baby! Excuse me?! Red Sonja having Celeste is absolutely wild but I kind of like it. Gucci really shouldn’t be mad. Animal was supposed to be dead. I love Kallah and Ashanti working together! From the time Sonja showed up I knew something was off and crazy!! This was a sad ending but I know it’s just fuel for the next book! Something is definitely off, can’t wait to find who’s behind the hits.

Kwan does it again! Delivers another master level novel. This books has 2 fast paced storylines that come together into 1 plot. Kahllah trying to figure out who put a hit on her and Animal is trying to help Red Sonja kill the people related to her father’s new love interest because it means Celeste (Animal’s and Red Sonja’s life child) is in danger. But what does the two have to do with one another? Read this to find out.
This 3rd book in the series was an amazing culmination of a story of an anti-hero. To read his story just makes me love Animal all the more and Zo-pound as well. Red Sonya coming into the picture with a surprise for Gucci and Animal and Zo-pound being released on a murder charge that he absolutely committed was a great twist of events. The hood and Kings may change but the game remains the same as far as people corrupting or ruining the community for a hit.
Omg… These people are stressing me tf out. This book done gave me a whole headache because so much was going on at once. I’m sitting here trying to process everything that just happened because my head is spinning 🤯. But one thing about it, I stayed locked in the whole time. No dry moments. Just pure chaos.
Overall, this keeps getting crazier and crazier. I can’t wait to see what’s gonna unfold in book four.
This book was good, short but good. I hated the ending, I was not a fan of what happened to one of my favorite characters. But I guess the author needs reason for Animal’s behavior for the next book. Over all I liked the book, I enjoyed reading more about Kala, I don’t like Red Sonya and her drama is the cause of the downfall of a favorite character.
This was a good read but not as action packed as the first two. Animal just can’t seem to catch a break. At every turn it seems danger is waiting for him. How much can one man take? The end of the book is especially tragic. I’m not site how the events will change him moving forward bit I look forward to reading the next installment.

K’wan! You didn’t have to hurt my feelings like that. This MIGHT be the best book in the animal series !! Automatically 5 stars! You make me want to go back and read all your books before the animal series. It’s crazy how all these books/characters are connected!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
And Gucci? Damn! 😔
And Peter? I hope the homies get you 🤬🤬!!!

I love it when a book can hold my attention from the beginning to the end. This book picked up exactly where part 2 left off and now I can't wait to read part 4. K'wan's Animal series is one of my favorites. I love his books.
Loved this read! This book will engulf you and have you on edge challenging yourself to read faster to see what will happen next! There were so many twists and turns. Old characters come back to add alongside the new ones. Again, I loved this book!
I fell in love with the character Animal from the moment he was introduced in the Hood Rat Series. But after reading this last installment, I doubt if I wanna continue reading the series.
