Toriko is a Gourmet Hunter out to eat the world!

In a savage world ruled by the pursuit of the most delicious foods, it's either eat or be eaten! While searching for the tastiest foods imaginable, Gourmet Hunter Toriko travels the world with his bottomless stomach, facing every beast in his way.

Gourmet Corp. attacks the unsuspecting public at Cooking Stadium while they are assembled to celebrate food and watch the world’s top chefs compete at the Cooking Festival. Toriko’s chef partner, Komatsu, is captured, and the long-held rivalry between the IGO and Gourmet Corp. explodes into all-out war. This looks like a fight for Toriko and all his friends, but can they win against old foes and new alike?

In which the author said, "bored of the cooking tournament; THIS AIN'T NO IRON CHEF! BACK TO FIGHTING!!" And had loads and loads and LOADS of strong b*sterds invade the stadium to steal these top chefs, ranging from all manner of beasts, bugs, reptiles, & sea life to humans with super weird powers to robots that look like the fearsome Nitro beastmen to AN ACTUAL CHAINED&TAMED NITRO!

Fight after fight after fight and some of these are truly fascinating. Some people we see fight for the first time (Granny Setsuna's power is FREAKIN' TERRIFYING; Destroys monsters like nobody's business!) to some old favorites, the 4 kings & their fights especially. And because we can't have a climactic war between forces without a little betrayal, we've got a buddy of Komatsu who discovers the secret traitors to the side of good.
Get excited folks!

The Bishoukukai invades the Cooking Fest! And an all-out war begins. Toriko, Coco, and Sani each face off against a nemesis that had fought Toriko before. The action sequences focused on the important fights, and doesn't have the long drawn-out and repetitive moments as in the anime. The pacing is much better this way. Also, Komatsu was way less whiny compared to the anime (which resulted in my rapidly diminishing regard of him). And during all this chaos, a hidden faction seems to have been behind all of this.

Last volume was spent introducing all sorts of cooks just so that they can fight it out in this volume. Great beginning, to what looks like, a giant fight.
