things are finally picking up in the time travel arc!! i always forget that namami is yukiji’s descendent 🥹i can see where the mangaka drew inspiration from inuyasha
I literally had to take a break while reading this because my emotions became too much to handle. All I can say is that this series is literal perfection and I reccomend it to everyone because it is AMAZING. I have half a mind to rate this 5 stars because it was beautiful, just like everything else in this series.
Its nice to come back to a series that you've been reading. But because its been a while what with the wait for the next volume, you kind of forgot what happened in the last volume. Or well, you're taking a break from the series. Another good volume thus far in this long series. Love it!
I love this series, but I was really, really bothered by parts of this book. The content in it got very mature, sexual, and abusive and I felt it was handled in a very poor if not dangerous manner. I was bothered that Nanami was more concerned about Tomoe being happy when he was attacking her and concerned that her reaction was treated not only as okay but perhaps even desirable as if her loving him could somehow make his behavior okay. I would give this book a one-star review if not for the rest of the book which up until those parts was fun and enjoyable like the rest of the series. I am surprised and disappointed in the way things were handled in this one, and while I am willing to keep reading, if this keeps up, I won't be reading for much longer. :(
Gosh the story is getting more complex and heartbreaking 🥺 as it turns out, probably most (if not all) of the memories Tomoe had with Yukiji is actually his memories with Nanami 😭💗💗 The way he begs for her to stay by his side, but not using Nanami's name just breaks me 💔💔 It must be really painful for Nanami to hear it, when all she has always wanted is to be with Tomoe.
I love how gentle Yukiji is as well, and when she reunites with Nanami when Nanami returns to the past shows how much Yukiji truly cares for Nanami. But now that she accidentally witnesses Tomoe leaving after saying he'll come back for Yukiji (Nanami, in reality) and than sees Nanami disappearing, I have no idea how Yukiji is going to act :(
I also adore Fuuta 💗 He has been the kindest to Nanami all these times. And the fur ball working under Akura-Oh is adorable too! I kinda like how vicious he (it?) becomes in the end of this volume because he's been bullied for so long by the other yokai working under Akura-Oh. Go and wreak some havoc, little rockstar 💖
I always get thrown off by finding or picking-up again on-going series. I'm just used to being so far behind that on-going is barely visible in the rear-view mirror. Anyway, just don't know what I'm going to do with myself! How does it end?! Need to know! Now!
haha! Okay, so I should maybe actually discuss something about the book. The constant time travel reminded me of that stupid time-traveling ninja manga. Left a bad taste in my mouth to say the least. I don't think it was done in a bad way, but any story line that focuses around time travel just reads as a little hokey to me. But I love long haired Tomoe. I love how Nanami and Tomoe's relationship develops. I am a sap, so this was completely up my alley. haha!
A lot of interesting things were revealed in this volume and I really enjoyed it. As Nanami goes back in time once again to try to find a way in the present to save Tomoe. Once again she poses as Yukiji, further proving my theory that Tomoe has actually been in love with Nanami this whole time because he thinks her name is Yukiji. And Nanami, bless her, is silly about the whole thing, thinking that she’s ruining the past by interfering. Nanami pretends to be Yukiji on a trip and when she is attacked Tomoe saves her. Tomoe is also being dumb about the whole thing, trying to convince himself that he’s just saving her to kill her himself when in reality he feels something for her. Let’s see if my theory is proved right in the next volume...

So I was a little confused by what happened with the procession/switch, but it may be that the copy I was reading had the pages out of order/was missing some,.. but I do love that the real one Tomoe seemed to have fallen for was actually Nanami... and the hairpin was always hers! I wonder if that’s the item that the fallen god was talking about... but if she doesn’t have the item anymore and the god is gone in the present... will she be able to fix things??? Ah time travel makes things so confusing... also, if Kifuji or whatever her name is successfully made it to the lord she’s marrying, then would Tomoe still try to become human to be with her?? I have a sneaking suspicion that Yukiji is Nanami’s ancestor...

In this installment, Nanami has the mountain demon's name to break the curse on the sickly Tomoe. Now she must find him! But before that she must succeed in distracting the demon Lord Akura Oh from trying to destroy Tomoe's past love, Yukiji. Tomoe, still ever a wild fox ayakashi (AKA a Japanese demon) of the Feudal Era is confused about his feelings for the human woman who saved him. All the while Nanami is trying to keep the past from being destroyed with her meddling. I can't wait to see if she returns to the present; having the vital information needed to save her beloved friend and companion guardian shinshi. Things are getting down to the wire!

This volume is so beautiful, I love it so much. To see how nanami and tomoe's love story actually started 500 years ago is so romantic, I absolutely love this arc, and the special episode was heart-warming. Also interesting how some plot points were more developed here, compared to the OVA adaptation, since we still have around 10 volumes before the end. As much as love this volume, I just had to take half a star off because of *that* scene between tomoe and nanami, it's so unnecessary and I honestly do not understand why the author chose to write it. It's so unlike her from what I've read so far, but still undeniable terrible.
did i dig all the romance going on this volume? you better believe i did!
i also thought about how we construct pictures of those we've loved and lost -- we make them prettier and kinder and forget the rough edges -- and what it means that the yukiji nanami thought she couldn't match was her all along
(it means that i dug the circular nature of the time story plot and also aww yeah tomoe confessed his love, everyone gather round and sing it loud!)
also actual!yukiji is a babe, i'm so pleased with her and nanami's friendship
KAMISAMA PEAK THIS VOLUME IS SO GOOD well mainly chapters 93 and 94 but they are thar good the nanami and tomae moments go CRAZY this volume they are literally soulmates i’m squealing and kicking my feet once again yukiji slays we know this pretty much everything i want from a kamisama volume this arc is so good
