Amazon #1 New Release in Comedy! "Val is the funniest character I've encountered in a lifetime of reading!" Amazon Review "Margaret's witty observations and clever turns of phrase make this another laugh-out-loud twisty tale as Val gets herself into deeper trouble at every turn."
A License to Print Funny ...Val’s on a mission to get her ducks in a row--or quack-up trying.
Stuck working in a rundown thrift shop, Val yearns for a way out—a destiny that doesn’t involve sorting used clothes by how repulsive they smell. The only problem is, Val is in debt to her boss all the way up to her sweaty armpits.
Desperate to find a way out of her dead-end job, Val decides to clean up her act, even if it means giving up her most precious possessions. But her attempt to turn over a new leaf won't be easy. And Val is about to find out that one good deed doesn’t necessarily lead to another.
Especially when it comes to money.
Will Val end up awash in cash? Or go tumbling back into the poorhouse? Either way, someone’s about to learn that paybacks can be hell.
Love Val Fremden? Doreen Diller? Freaky Florida Investigations? You're in luck! You never know which of your favorite characters might drop by in That Time I Kinda Killed a Guy, the first book in my brand new series, Val Fremden Humorous Mystery Series. This is one of the best ones yet!" "Val is a totally unique character. Fun, slightly mad, and definitely old enough to behave better (but she doesn't!).” “A hilarious, mile-a-minute ride alongside well-drawn characters with great friendships and a bit of romance on the side. Margaret never fails to deliver!” “Thanks, Margaret, for this wonderful character. Sometimes I think she’s me!” "Val is the funniest character I've encountered in a lifetime of reading!" "Val is a totally unique character, fun, slightly mad and definitely old enough to behave better (but she doesn't!).” "Val's friends are a real hoot. I don't know where she finds them, but I want some too. They are so much fun!” “Weird and quirky, that's Val. Wonderful read (for) anyone needing a good laugh and an adventure into the weird.” “I have read many of the Val Fremden books, and whilst events in past books have led her to this point it is possible to read each book as a standalone. However, I urge you to read this fun series, Val is a totally unique character, fun, slightly mad and definitely old enough to behave better (but she doesn't!).” “Margaret's observations and witty turn of phrase make this book a laugh-a-minute (Val describes her new colleague 'looks like Lurch's psychotic teenage offspring'!).”
Why do I love underdogs? Well, it takes one to know one.
Like the main characters in my novels, I haven’t lead a life of wealth or luxury. In fact, as it stands now, I’m set to inherit a half-eaten jar of Cheez Whiz…if my siblings don’t beat me to it.
During my illustrious career, I’ve been a roller-skating waitress, an actuarial assistant, an advertising copywriter, a real estate agent, a house flipper, an organic farmer, and a traveling vagabond/truth seeker. But no matter where I’ve gone or what I’ve done, I’ve always felt like a weirdo.
I’ve learned a heck of a lot in my life. But getting to know myself has been my greatest journey. Today, I know I’m smart. I’m direct. I’m jaded. I’m hopeful. I’m funny. I’m fierce. I’m a pushover. And I have a laugh that lures strangers over, wanting to join in the fun.
In other words, I’m a jumble of opposing talents and flaws and emotions. And it’s all good.
I enjoy underdogs because we’ve got spunk. And hope. And secrets that drive us to be different from the rest.
So dare to be different. It's the only way to be! Happy reading!
Thanks to the author for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion. Another book starring the hilarious Val Fremden there are also many of our favourite characters dropping in. The book starts with Val back with her lovely boyfriend Tom, determined to make a fresh start to improve her life. But ... Life intervenes with the usual hilarity, Margaret's witty observations and clever turns of phrase make this another laugh-out-loud twisty tale as Val gets herself into deeper trouble at every turn. Make sure you read the books from the beginning to get the full picture of this larger-than-life character and her incredible friends and acquaintances before enjoying this latest in series!
The Val Fremden book series has been a source of joy and anticipation for me. These captivating stories have provided me with something to eagerly look forward to, which is essential in life. I sincerely hope that more installments in this beloved series will be released in the future, as I eagerly await the opportunity to immerse myself in the next chapter of this engaging literary world.
Val is at it again! Just like the other books in this series this book is a funny and a very fast read because once you start you cannot stop reading. The characters are wacky and you never know where the story will take you but oh what fun! Buy the book and read it and you will finish with a smile on your face.
Margaret Lashley is the best at taking Val's twisted imagination and turning it into a non-stop action packed story that'll keep you laughing. Thanks Ms. Margaret for all of the series you've written. Doreen Diller. Minds Eye and Freaky Florida.
I love the Val Fremden series because they are light hearted with enough mystery twisted in. Val is like the ordinary lady but trouble follows her and she works hard to solve it with things not always going her way. There is a little romance thrown in to keep things interesting.
Val decided to make an effort to act like a mature adult. What can go wrong? Hypnotherapy, counterfeiting and a missing boss makes for a hilarious snapshot into Val's life.
Margaret Lashley does it again. Florida humor at its best. The cast of characters is so believable (if you live in Florida) and the antics keep you entertained throughout the book. Can’t wait for the next Val-pal edition!
Marvelous fun read! Rocketing right along with fun. Just old time humor with characters we’ll placed and off -the -shoulder good clean grinning and giggling,
This is my favorite of the three, so far. Yes, Val is prone to major dramatics and gets herself into unnecessary trouble because of her inability to lie, but she has a good heart. Know who else has a good heart? Read and find out!
Margaret Lastly never disappoints... After a series of outlandish mishaps Val always comes thru, maybe not brillianly, but she survices. Easy fun read.
