Cass Collins is observant. It’s one of the things that makes her an award-winning songwriter and one-third of the smash girl group Hivemind. On stage, she’s happy to take the backseat to her friends and, in her downtime, take delight in her nerdiest high fantasies. The only person who has ever taken the time to see her truly is her childhood pen pal. That is until she learns of his lie by omission.
Hawk Wexler is the poster child for generational wealth in New York society, even if he is the odd one out in the Wexler dynasty. After years spent in his family’s shadow, he’s forged a new path as the CFO of Black Cat Records. While his family is more confused about his choices than ever, he’s happy to have a chance to do something on his own. If only he had his best friend and pen pal by his side.
Through fate or luck, Hawk and Cass find their way to each other, both on and off the screen, proving that time after time, they were always meant to be.
Lola Kate lives in the southeast with her husband and son. When she is not daydreaming about what her characters are up to, you can find her watching Bravo, listening to true crime podcasts, or drawing.
In an alternate universe, Lola might teach small children or be an amateur cult expert. In this one, she is happy to share her love of modern romance novels.
Cass is the third member of Hivemind, one of the biggest groups represented by Black Cat Records. And Hawk is their new CFO. Care to mix a little business with your pleasure?
Short and spicy-sweet is how I'd describe this book. The relationship between Cass and Hawk developed quickly, though not unrealistically, and when things heated up, they really heated up.
Lola Kate Bolen is a master when it comes to creating characters you'll love, whether you can relate to their struggles or not, they're real, and it really comes through in her writing.
This one didn't quite reach the same level as Favorite Day of the Week did for me, but I loved it all the same.
