I was so excited to be offered this long awaited next instalment in the Nicki Sosebee series from Jade C Jamison. This series is so compelling and I am glad I didn’t have to wait as long for book 9 as some fans did.

The series continues with Nicki now working as a salaried journalist whilst continuing to work at a declining Napoli pizzeria. Life with Sean is still going well and Nicki is happy finally with her situation, or is she! Nicki continues to delve into the town’s political underbelly and after the announcement that Gina McCafferty is throwing her hat into the political ring as a city council candidate, Nicki starts to wonder what this ex-pageant contestant is doing fronting a political campaign.

Jesse has now recovered from Nicki’s rejection and is once again prominent in Sean and Nicki’s lives. Unfortunately for Nicki though, she realises that she still has feelings for him and she starts thinking more and more about him, especially in her dreams!

Whilst recovering from one of Nicki’s dream revelations, Sean becomes distant with his own problems and starts to isolate himself from Nicki. Nicki is desperate to know what is causing Sean’s anxiety but he is reluctant to explain what is troubling him.

“Sometimes, babe, there are things I have to work through on my own…. And you’re just gonna have to trust me.” He turned his hand over and took hers in his and squeezed it. “I love you. That’s all you need to know.”

I’ve got to say, Jade answered all my prayers with this book and boy, I really didn’t expect her to go there but I’ve gotta say the Jesse and Sean combo just became a whole lot sexier!!!

For a girl who doesn’t like reading anything more than a 3 book series, the fact that I’m already waiting for book 10 goes to show how enjoyable this series is. The books are not too long but long enough to be thoroughly enjoyed without feeling cheated. I am being selfish in hoping that book 10 comes soon, because I know Jade has other priorities in her writing, but I’m going to plead that we don’t have to wait too long for the next instalment!!! I need to know what’s next for this delicious trio.

This ebook was kindly provided by the author prior to release date in return for an honest and unbiased review.

Nicki Sosebee is back with more drama than ever before, and I loved every moment of it. If you haven’t read this series, you really need to start with book 1 to get the whole story, but it’s so worth it! Jade made us wait, for what seems like forever, but she’s an amazing writer and I can’t get enough of her stories!

Nicki is the most stubborn, bull headed women around, and it gets her into some pretty sticky situations. She’s a reporter for the local newspaper, and in this go around she covers a beauty pageant, where she finds more than a story about make-up and dresses.

Her and Sean are still together, but with Sean, you never know what’s going to happen. He seems to be having some inner struggles, and with that, Nicki leans on her friends for support. This also brings her back into Jesse’s life (Sean’s best friend and her ex), which always seems to stir up trouble. She’s always been attracted to Jesse, but fights those feelings for her and Sean’s sake, knowing it would tear them apart.

A big “did I really just say that” moment occurs between Sean and Nicki, leading Sean to believe that she no longer wants to be with him. This makes Nicki heart broken and second guessing the way she went about things. They’ve been through so much turmoil and drama together, but can they continue to weather the storm? Loving this series so much, and who can resist the scorching hot sex between these two…good lord! HOT HOT HOT!

“Fake: Nicki Sosebee #9” by Jade C. Jamison
5 out of 5 stars

Political intrigue, relationship drama, and introspection are what is in store for Nicki in the latest installment in Jamison’s series. There’s a new candidate running for city council and something about her rubs Nicki the wrong way. Is it because she’s wealthy and entitled? Is it because she seems to know next to nothing about politics? Or is it because Nicki’s just fed up with the local government and the possibility of just another pretty mouthpiece is the final thread? These are questions that she tries to answer as she digs into Gina McCafferty’s past hoping to find the piece to the puzzle that seems missing.

On top of the corrupt local government weighing her down, Sean is going through something that brings on a depression and shuts her out. If all that weren’t enough, Jesse’s hanging around again, bringing old feelings to the surface and making Nicki doubt her choices. As her life seems to spiral out of control, she must decide where her heart truly lies once and for all.

This was, by far, my favorite Nicki book to date. She has, the in last couple of books, developed an emotional maturity that has allowed for a lot of growth for her character. It has made her more dynamic and interesting. She and Sean have made a go of it for a few months and it would be unnatural for her not to be slightly freaked out. She hasn’t had a relationship last this long since college and it would be unrealistic for her make that transition without a pause here or there. I like that Jamison doesn’t make it smooth sailing for them. Every couple, regardless of how long they have been together, has moments of uncertainty. That’s what makes us real people and her characters are no exception. It’s the bumps along their road that keep me glued to the page for resolution and further feeds into their undeniable chemistry. This book has made me an absolute believer in Sean. There is a depth and complexity to him now that makes me want to know him more and I look forward to the moments when we see more of his back story.

Jamison uses the character of Jesse well here. It would be easy to gloss over the months he and Nicki were together, to make light of that time and act like it wasn’t really important. Instead, she uses him as the catalyst that brings about Nicki’s introspection. I like that he took a stand for himself and his feelings, willing to sacrifice anything to make his thoughts known. His character had always been a nice juxtaposition to Sean’s, but it was nice to see him lay all his cards on the table, regardless of the consequences. It only served to make me more invested in him and his journey from here.

This book begs the question, where are we fake in our lives? Are we putting on a face and going about our day or are we really being true to ourselves? Nicki’s always been an in-your-face kind of girl but her life is changing…evolving. I liked seeing her deal with the question of who she is now…as an on-staff reporter, as one half of a serious couple, and even as a friend. I feel I’m on this journey with her and I’m fully on board. I can’t wait to see where Jamison takes the series from here but I feel like we are at a new era in Nicki’s life and it’s going to be good.

As always, I’m in awe of Jamison. I’ve never read another author who has the ability to so completely pull me in. I would hang out with these people. I want to know them. I enjoy spending time in their world and I’m disappointed that I have to wait for the next book to be written. All of that can only be credited a writer who really lives and breathes her characters. Jamison is an amazing talent and I’ll be a willing participate on any adventure, in any book, she wants to go on! This series is a must read! Congrats to her on another awesome book!

~ I received an ARC for an honest review ~

There is absolutely nothing "fake" about Jade C. Jamison or this wonderful addition to the Nicki Sosebee series. Every single book that has come out of her mind and the words that have flown off of her fingers are so real and everything about her characters just makes me feel something...like FEEL something special.
I LOVE Nicki...that girl has so much heart and spunk and she is every hard working, tough loving chick out in the world today that is not afraid of finding the truth behind the mask of everyone in her life, from the news stories she reports on to the men that she loves.
FAKE is a story that I have been ready for...at long last Nicki and Sean seem to be settled into a sort of domestic bliss (as much as these two wild things are capable of anyway) and it would seem like nothing will ever come between them again. But of course, there will always be Jesse (in some way, shape or form) in their lives and in her heart whether she wants to admit it or not.
The very first chapter of this book made me squirm because what Nicki feels is universal among us women...jealousy and holding on to a piece of something you shouldn't want anymore, but can't help coveting. Of course, as in all the books of this series, Nicki is always on the job...researching a story about an unlikely candidate for office as she tries to juggle her personal problems and a dead-end job as a server. We see a more vulnerable yet mature Nicki here, as the reality of where her life is going and how little she feels she has to show for all her hard work, comes to an emotional head.
I refuse to spoil any more of this book except to say that there are some surprises and one especially scorching hot threesome that you'll have to read to believe. WOWSERS...it was a fantasy come true for me personally...and you will just have to go on this journey for yourself!
If you are as big of a Nicki fan as I am, you will not want to hesitate getting this one ASAP! A fun (and angst) filled time will be had by all!

Nicki is one hell of a chick. She is totally me and my friends. She is rock-n-roll, very sexual and not afraid of it and susper sassy!! i mean AWESOME fun reads!!

The Nicki/Sean Relationship of the story: So this book begins with Nicki and Sean *sigh* in love......happy....butterflies and all that jazz. They are at a club watching Jesse sing karoake and Nicki gets a bit hot...for Jesse...her ex...Sean 's besties!! WHAT!! Anyway, she ignores it and puts it outta her mind. Then Sean has some serious man PMS and Nicki's poor head is spinning....I mean WTH Sean? Well everything SEEMS to be back to normal and then a certain scene hits ( and if you have been following Jade write this book you KNOW the scene.... )Wet Panties time people...WOWZERS!! I was sooooo not dissappointed at allllll!! Anyway this causes Sean to lose his shit and forced Nicki and Jesse to confront old feelings and unresolved issues....UGH!! THE STRESS!!! Nicki's Paper Story: So Nicki has to report on a teen pagent and is none to thrilled with it but she does it. Well she sees the chick running it and pretty much doesnt like her. Then she finds out this idiot is running for city council...and is basically a puppet....Nicki is acting more and more like Sean with politics and she sure lets the candidate know her stance in the story!!

Series: Nicki Sosebee #9
Category /Genre: Contemporary Romance
Received from: Jade C. Jamison in exchange for an honest review
Recommended for: 18 + due to adult situations and sexual content
Grammar/editing: book received as an unedited ARC / errors excused

This is the ninth in the Nicki Sosebee series and they do need to be read in order.

I am very honored that Jade has asked me to join her team of BETA readers specifically for grammar, content, and continuity. I hope that my minor assistance will improve your reading enjoyment. (See, being a grammar-Nazi isn’t all evil!)

This book is a win on three fronts:

1. The cover is gorgeous. Our Nicki is sexy and the cover evokes the aloneness that is a theme in this story.

2. Jade’s three-some cherry has been popped in exquisite style. The scene is hot and steaming sexy, but it does not cross the squeamish boundaries.

3. The story…. Oh my gawd! This series seriously gets better with every book. Sean teases, pleases, leaves, bromances, mopes, frightens, and loves. Jesse sings, comforts, and confesses. Oh LORD, he confesses! I was sitting here gape-mouthed and then I wanted to clamp my hand over his damn mouth when he just kept on confessing. Poor Nicki was confused and lonely through most of this book. When she reached a boiling point and her little mouse roared, the whole town heard it!

To sum it up, if you are reading this and you still haven’t picked up the book, I’m going to have to question your intelligence. Now, since I know all of my friends are intelligent people, I know that’s not the problem, so you’ll have to start reading now. I can’t be alone in pestering Jade to continue writing more about our three favorite people in Winchester, CO.

So, when I was talking to Jade after I had finished reading FAKE, she said, “...if this book wrecked you, just wait. Oh...that was evil, wasn't it?” She wins – her reputation as a merciless tease is fully intact!

I have had this book on countdown since Jade released a date and sometimes that can be a bad thing. Will the plot work? Will I still love these characters as much as I once did? Will she put a wedge in my favorite couple? Well, I can say without any hesitation that this book was well worth the wait. I was sucked right back into the world of Nicki Sosebee and all her friends so quickly that I felt like I had never left. Sean, Jesse, Jillian and Brandy all remain devoted fixtures in Nicki's life in the small Colorado town of Winchester. There are some new characters that bring a new plot twist as well as some returning characters like the sarcastic cop, Nathan Wright, and her lovable Winchester Tribune boss, Neil. Will Nicki's relationship with Sean stand the test of time and his strong relationship with his best friend and her ex, Jesse? There's a storm brewing in Winchester. Make sure you brace yourself!

Jade does it again. Nicki does many things she isn't proud of and even though she wants to take the cowardly road she doesn't. I could admire that if it was her taking responsibility for it. I think communication and honesty should be first priority but it seems like something that Sean and Nicky don't think about. The story is incredible with a fabulous plot and awesome characters. The flow between the characters and story was flawless.

Overall the subject matter is important and the plot make it that much more interesting. Bottom line is jade makes the story for her readers interesting and to the point with me as obsessive. Thank you for writing this series and I cannot wait for #10.

This is my favorite series by Jade I love Nicki and of course Sean and Jesse. I am team Jesse BTW.. I wasn't sure what I was expecting out of this latest Nicki book, but I really enjoyed it. The emotions are running high in this one and I just can't help but feel bad for both Sean and Jesse.. You seem to think you know what's going to happen between them, but you really have no idea. At the end I can tell there is something big that is going to happen. I can't wait for more Nicki!

Nicki Sosobee is amazing. This woman is true BFF material. She's real and lets you know that she's not perfect. I loved how even though Sean is head over heels inlove he doesn't try too change just because of Nicki. Too me SEan is a dream come true for any woman

This is a great series of books. I really enjoy reading about the adventures of Nicki and wondering what issues are going to be encountered next. The main characters' interactions are a fun element that runs alongside the plot lines of the books. If you've not read any Nicki Sosebee books then you really need to start at book 1 to make sure that you understand the dynamics and motivations of the central players.
This book was totally engrossing and I found it hard to put down, as I was keen to see where the story was going to lead us next. Nicki, Jesse and Sean's relationships featured quite heavily in this book and it was nice to see how that was all developing. Sometimes I wanted to scream and shout at Nicki to stop and think. That’s a good sign that I'm really involved in the story!
The main plot to this particular story involved Nicki's curiosity regarding a citizen of Winchester that decided to run for the City Council despite seeming clueless about the role she's wanting to adopt. Nicki's reporter instincts kick in and she tries to discover the real reasons and story behind the person.
A fabulous read and left a few unanswered questions that I really hope are cleared up later in the series. Oh, and that dream….wow!

Love the Drama
The honeymoon seems to be over for Nicki and Sean as Nicki starts to see a darker side of Sean that was not apparent when they were just best friends. She wants to help him but can she? Is their love and chemistry for each other enough? What about Jesse? Lots of drama in this installment of the series which left me wanting more.

Nicki Sosebee is back with all the dramas that come with her! Whilst covering a beauty pageant for the newspaper (she is now on the payroll), she encounters a very superficial woman who ends up running for the city council. She has no personality, no knowledge about local issues and no idea what she will if she wins the seat but she is rich and pretty, so a sure fire win! To sum it up in one word, she is fake. Nicki realises that she is one person and one person alone can not make a difference but she is not afraid to challenge the status quo and she is certainly not giving the new woman on the block an easy ride of it! Nicki now has a genuine interest in local politics, supported and encouraged by Sean. The recognition of how politics impacts on her life and those in a similar position is a new experience for her but she speaks her frustrations eloquently!

Nicki and Sean's relationship seems to be solid but when Sean goes into a funk, Nicki doesn't quite know how to deal with it and Sean won't talk about it. Will we ever find out what sends Sean into these mood dips? Unfortunately, this is not the only relationship bump that they will have to deal with as Nicki unintentionally hurts Sean whilst trying to find her own peace of mind. I think that Nicki is crazy for believing what she did but she needed reassurance, showing her insecurity. It backfired and badly. Will their relationship be able to recover from this? They are a couple that belong together in my eyes - Nicki is still immature in knowing how to be in a relationship, which explains her struggles in communicating effectively with Sean. She ultimately loves him and the idea of commitment doesn't scare her as much as it did with Jesse. Sean has his own issues to deal with and needs support from NIcki. He loves her deeply but will he be able to overcome his feelings that Nicki has betrayed him?

Another fantastic addition to the Nicki Sosebee series. I am loving the relationship between Nicki and Sean and how they are finding their way together. Whether the bumps and dips they navigate their way around in their relationship will have a lasting impact is yet to be seen. I just have to say " GO Nicki!!!" in standing up for the average person!

Oh Nicki, Nicki, Nicki, I completely understand what it's like to love two very different men, each one bringing out something different in you, but never, and I mean NEVER, reveal/ask about a dream you've had to your man. WOW! But hot damn, what a dream that was (wish I were there *wink wink*)...HOT HOT HOT!! Jade has taken us on an amazing journey with Nicki; her life with Sean, Jesse, her friends, her life as an investigative reporter, and working at Napoli's. I started book one on a Friday night and read all nine in a week. I'm excited and anxiously awaiting book ten, I've got to know what's going on with Jesse, Sean, and Nicki. They can't leave it this way!!

This book was a bit tamer than what I've come to love about Nicki, and it didn't have the usual confidence that I would expect from her. I didn't see much in the way of her reporting in this one, and I was a little sad about that. However, there was a particularly steamy scene, and a good overall writing style. I'm hoping this acts as a segue-way to a bigger storyline for Nicki in the political journalism scene, and I look forward to seeing if she regains her confidence that appears to be missing since she's become a relationship girl.

Fake by Jade C Jamison was worth the wait. It is a wild ride, like being on Space Mountain. She Keeps you guessing at every turn of the page, and turn the page you do. Will Sean and Nicki stay together? What about Jesse? If you have read Jades' books but haven't started the Nicki Sosebee Series, it is definitely a must read. Fake kept me on the edge of my seat.
