Mike Evans lives in Iowa with his wife, children, and two adopted dogs Rusty and Harley Quinn. He writes with a passion to bring his characters to life, to make you fall in love with them, and then make you flip pages to find out if they’ll survive or perish. He keeps his characters realistic, there are no superheroes. There are no perfect characters in his books, everyone has their flaws much like that of life. Mike loves to write in different genres and is unafraid to try something new.

Buried Broken Oaths

The blurred lines of Justice.

This book was a Thriller very well done. Mr.Evens is more than likely now on someone's "watch list" for all the research and information he had to have gathered on how to pull off the "Perfect bank robbery." The lead characters in this book complement each other very well. Frank a Police officer he possesses characteristics of a military man, well disciplined, he is a fast thinker and well organized, he processes every action before he acts. He is a serious kind of guy who believes in the law and oath he took to uphold the law, he is likable. His best buddy is Earl is a free spirit, funny, bright and loyal to a fault never stopping to consider the cost to himself for his loyalty, the kind of buddy you would want to have your back and the Godfather to Franks son. Frank thinks of a happier time with his wife and son. His wife is gone, but he will stop at nothing to retrieve his son safely from an unscrupulous man. In order to do this his moral breaking point and will and determination will be tested beyond the limits. Frank has Earl to back him up to the end no matter what happens. This is a story about a how far a man will go to protect the ones he loves, it is about true friendship and the strength of their bond, it is about going against everything you believe in, down to your very core of existence the moral dilemma of breaking all the rules you swore to uphold. Mike Evens has done a tremendous job with this story. The timing was perfect, you had such a clear picture of the places and circumstances he painted with his words and the character's were perfectly imperfect. I became emotionally invested in the outcome early on in this story. You see Frank break down for a moment early on when he has to terrorize an innocent family to gain the father's cooperation. It was something that had to be done in order to save his son. Frank had empathy for that family, because he was innocent too, yet this terrible thing had happened to him and his son.

Imagine one of your worst nightmares coming true and you are a Police Officer having to do things that are against your moral code to get back the one thing you hold most dear to your heart. That is exactly what Frank McPatrick is facing in this engrossing, heart stopping, and epic book by Mike Evans!
I absolutely LOVED this story! Once I started reading it was very hard to put down and only did if it was absolutely necessary. The action was described in a way that keeps you on the edge of your seat…holding your breath at times, wondering if the outcome will be for the good or the bad! Every character was intricately important to this story and was described in a way that you could picture them in your mind. I totally fell in love with Earl who is Frank’s best buddy in this story and I could so see me hanging out with him. He is a colorful, fun, great guy and friend who has Frank’s back through this entire story!
All I can say is…do yourself a favor and get a copy of Buried…sit back in your favorite chair with whatever it is you like to drink and get ready for one heck of an amazing story that keeps you engrossed and entertained and which will stay with you long after that last page is turned!

A tense and fun thriller

Buried is a tense thriller that was a lot of fun to read. Mike Evans' speciality is character development and he did a great job giving us two characters that you root for throughout the story. You really get to know these people and are invested in the outcome. There are good action scenes and Frank is someone you want to have your back in a fight. Frank's best friend provides much comic relief which gives needed breaks from the tension. He is also someone who is loyal to Frank and gives great help when needed. The humorous dialogue between them is one of the best parts of the book. The pace is a little slow at times but doesn't take away from the story. The book has a great conclusion and hints at a possible sequel. Overall this is a fun thriller with lots of action and great characters. I recommend it.

Buried
Mike Evans

This is not my type of genre, but I was truly engulfed in the story. You can’t help but to be pulled in by two great characters. It is an intense situation that Frank and Earle find themselves in and you cannot help but continue reading just to find out what will happen next. This is a must read for anyone that loves a good thriller mystery. Mr. Evans writes in a way that details everything superbly and yet does not get monotonous. He gives you all the background on the characters as you progress so you feel connected with them. Add one more success to Mike Evan’s list of successful and awesome novels.

Buried was a great book , Mike Evans paints the photo for you in this story of what Frank has to go though in order to get his son back. There is nothing that Frank and his best friend wont do to get Franks son back. This story is a Thrilling tale about friendship and a fathers and god fathers love they have for the kid. A story well told and look forward to more by Mike Evans. If you liked this you should check out his others they are worth the read

Outstanding!

Mr. Evans hits it out of the park again. He is so good at character development that I felt like I was inside the book. The interaction between his two main characters was fun. I would highly recommend this book. I am looking forward to more books by this tremendously talented author.

A tough decision? Break the law and save your son or catch the bad guy?

Frank, with the help of his clueless best friend Earl, has a decision to make. Easy decision! Do whatever it takes to save Jude and damn the consequences. Frank is a good cop. One of the best. But he's really over a barrel here. He has to do some dirty jobs, but Jude's safety is paramount. Quite a conundrum!
I love these characters, and Earl is amazing! I'm really happy to meet him. The storyline is amazing, with just the right twists to keep the plot moving. Frank is a better detective than I initially credited him! He laid it all on the line and . . . nope! You have to read it for yourself! The characters are all visible, that is: they pop off the page and into your imagination with little difficulty. Full color and louder than life! This novel is superbly constructed and is a great read!

A GREAT NEW START OF A SERIES WITH A GREAT NEW HERO.

Super good book, written by Mike Evans. What could be worse, than being buried alive, then being told that your one friend you can trust in the whole world will be coming to dig you out of the wooden coffin, it can't get worse than that. But Frank McPatrick soon finds out it can get worse, much worse. Without giving anything away, this was one good book and definitely deserves the 5 stars I will be giving it. Mike Evans has done one great job with this book and I'm very ready to read Book #2. This has the start of one great series, so bring it on. This Book and soon to be Series I highly recommend to all.

Frank , a cop was taken and buried alive in a coffin. He had limited oxygen .He found that his son was taken by whomever buried him. His phone has some power left. The guy told Frank if you know of someone who would do anything for you give me his number and I will give him the directions to where your buried. Earl was Franks best friend, kind of slow but smart in a way .He got Frank out. But he kept getting calls from this person who always told him what he needed to do in order to get his son back alive. Something going on each page . Gives specific details of what Frank & Earl need to do to keep up with this mans demand & save his son.

A suspense thriller that keeps the reader guessing to the end. The two main characters are likable, ex-army buddies whose loyalty to each other runs deep. The difference in their personalities provide some comic relief in a story that is fast and at times filled with tension. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy action and excitement, or any good book. I loved it.

I loved this book, it was action packed, edge of the seat, and with a twisting plot, it kept me riveted to the end. I really enjoyed Frank and Earl's partnership, it was the perfect blend of straight and comic, after reading about them in Orphans 7, I just had to know more, Dan Boice's narration captured both character perfectly.

First i'm gonna tell you what this book isn't;
1) It's not slow - in fact it's fast paced action from cover to cover
2) It's not Shakespeare - who wanted Shakespeare anyway, we aren't in school any more, we don't have to read it because Mr Whatshis name said so. It is however well written and thought out
3) It's not dull, boring or unimaginative - quite the opposite, it has a clever intricate plot with a well thought out caper, the main character Frank a police officer is motivated to skip to the other side of the fence in order to rescue his son who has been kidnapped and is being held by a seemingly cold and ruthless individual. What he has to do and how he goes about it... I'm not going to tell you that, that's the whole point of the book.

Secondly then, what this book is
1) A Great Read
2) Not shakespear
3) Fun - the author makes the interplay between Frank and his best friend Earl really funny, classic one liners mix in with the heavyweight plot to bring a smile to your face as you read.

Finally I think you should probably buy this book. I'm really glad i did :-)

A fun read, but the 2 main characters constant lighting up a cigarette I didn't care for, but maybe its just me since I am a 6 year lung cancer survivor.
The short story that is included at the end of this book made no sense to me.

Awesome detective story!

This book is not my typical read but I have read other books written by Mike Evans. I thought I would give it a try. I'm so glad I did because this was another well written book with exciting action and a sense of the unknown. I highly recommend this one!
