I bought this book because it got good reviews on Amazon and was the first book I’ve seen to discuss both diagnoses of ADHD and ODD. (I did learn that if ODD is left untreated, it could develop in to conduct disorder). Unfortunately, this book was not written by a medical Professional, which I suppose is what I was looking for. According to the reference page, the references or sources are a result of a Google search, not an official medical source.
Great insights to ways to help at different ages. I read the book because of past learning how to give boundaries to a ODD teen I babysat and seeing what insight might be good for my ASD teen. I liked some of the descriptions given for CPT therapy - I feel that in the future some of those types might be helpful for my child dealing with her trauma.
This book isn’t for just parents with kids that have adhd and/or ODD. This book gives great suggestions you can use with any kid and helps navigate how you can show each kid you care. I love how they mention giving the kids some choices and asking what they would like for rewards or to feel loved.
