The Lyrics of Longbourn begins in Meryton, and makes a detour into London during the Season, and then returns to Meryton. As you read, you will learn that there are many types of evil. There are some who are forced to do evil, from different circumstances in their lives. There are others who are forced to do evil, to better their circumstances in life. And then, there are some who are just pure, d-evil, simply because they wish to be. Evil to the core of their souls. And dear reader, you will learn that that type of evilness does not always appear as a serpent, an imp, or even a demon. You will learn that sometimes the worst type of evil comes to you in the guise of human form. So let us travel this road with the Bennett’s of Longbourn and the McKnight’s ofScotland, as they fight against each and every type of evil that comes their way. Their Ultimate quest, their Only focus, their Supreme goal… the Song ofRedemption must be Sung
First is that there are way too many grammatical and typographical errors, here instead of hear, the most common was the tense used for the verb begin. I do enjoy the baseline story although it is primarily not really a P&P tale. The comeuppances were a little weak in some instances. There was also an error with the Tilney storyline: three children in two years of marriage, when in fact Miss Tilney was already grown into a young woman not yet out when her mother passed away. The author also attempts to fix every wrong perceived to be committed from all Austen novels which made for constant tangents in the story. It was like constantly reading in a figure eight. Delaware county is not part of Philadelphia but a suburban county next to Philadelphia. There are continuous instances of "swooning" from men and women, but mostly men and again the outrageous amounts of money and titles bestowed on our characters. Lastly, the constant religious affirmations were like being in a cult. I will read the third book when it comes out because of the primary storyline, but am truly waiting for the second book of "Silence".
Four Stars for the story. Entertaining read. This continuation from the first book keeps you turning the page. This very involved storyline, containing characters from all the Jane Austen books is a fantasy variation, with the third part to be the climatic good verses evil scenario.
That being said, the grammar, spelling, wrong word usage, inconsistent names are spelling of names is very challenging. This story, like the first book was Not proofread and actually this book was worse than the first.
This book has been submitted in rough draft form, by an author who should hopefully know better. Please get reliable software -- Example, WORD has a built-in spell checker and grammar checker and will read it back to you! This is a good concept, but the mistakes make it regrettably poor quality and difficult to read. Pronouns are a challenge for this author with at least half of them wrong -- he/him and she/her. Unfortunately, in one scene the wrong word was used 5 times: ...even took you for a scroll.... The word is STROLL (walk in a leisurely fashion).
I am sorry to be critical, I enjoyed the story, but please get some help editing!
This book deserves a 10-star review. Selene Garrou hit it out of the park with The Lyrics of Longbourn. It was like Christmas Day when I found this book waiting in my recommended book queue. The wait for this continuing saga was well worth it, as Selene delivered a page-turning, can’t put this story down book. Thank you Selene! You are such a great writer, and I think I now need to go back and read The Melody of Longbourn again. Avid Pride and Prejudice variation readers, this is an awesome book!
I loved it. Such a fun read. My favorite Jaff are the ones far from canon and this one delivers. I really enjoy this author and have read or listened to many of her books. My favorite so far is: “To Wake the Sleeping Dragon” but I really like them all. I especially like her characters, Laura, Stiles, Loring, Sabrina etc. Creative and interesting. Highly recommend.
Not even the multitude of typos can take away from the astounding and grand magnitude of this fantastic story. It's not often that a second book is greater than the first, but it's the case here. Again though, I urge the author to use several English as a 1st language pre-readers to help edit out the typos.
Thank you, thank you! I am grateful that you were able to finish and present part 2. But, oh, now to wait for part 3. This series is such a spiritual journey with the P and P touch. May God bless you and your family and keep you safe. Hurry Part 3 and Silence 2.
The story continues in this Pride and Prejudice story, or the McKnight Family story with the supoorting cast of Jane Austen's characters.. Will any one survive the blast at Longbourn. Will the evil ones get their just rewards. (Religious overtones.) An entertaining read. The story will continue in book Three
Why did I allow myself to read this utter tripe?k Perhaps the challenge of seeing how many spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors I could find? And why do American authors not realise that we do not have a season called "Fall"?
Amazing series. Kept me captivated the whole book. What action and emotions this story has evolved. It even brought tears to my eyes. Dang, have to wait until fall for next in this series, as I am in all a tisy.
I'm enjoying the story, with a very original plot, but I think that it would greatly benefit from a through revision of spelling and grammatical errors.
