I saw the movie based on the book first and loved it. Shallow Grave is a dark and humorous slow-burn thriller that follows three roommates who find a suitcase full of cash in their new flat. This leads to some serious paranoia and suspicion among each other, leading to a tense and violent climax. Hodge's writing is sharp and witty, and he deftly weaves together elements of comedy, suspense, and horror. The characters are flawed and complex, making their descent into madness all the more compelling. Shallow Grave is gripping and entertaining.
