For fans who love humor and adventure, this hardcover collection has never been presented in this format before with over 300 pages of story and historical commentary.
For the first time ever, The Smurfs adventures are collected in their originally published order in English. From their very first appearance in the 1958 Johan and Peewit story, “The Smurfs and the Magic Flute,” to their debut “Little Smurfs” adventures and their 1963, first album-sized story “The Flying Smurf,” The Smurfs Archives Volume 1 is the perfect collection for every Smurf fan, young and old. Collecting the first twelve Smurf stories along with introductions and historical context by Smurfologist, Matt Murray, this 304-page hardcover collector’s edition is a must own book.
Fantastic artwork and wonderful little stories presented in their original publication order with some great introductions and background information. Quite enjoyable.
This collection arrived at the peak time for me, in a random period of Smurfs fascination! I'd been looking to read the old comics, then this came out a month later.
The book is really well put together, showing every story in chronological order - including their Johan and Peewit origins/appearances. The printing/paper quality is amazing, and the pages of introduction and additional information were really passionate and I learnt a lot.
The stories themselves were great! I actually loved the J&P stories - bearing in mind I'd never heard of it before this - and the mini-comics were great too. Purple/Black smurfs was defo the mini-comic highlight.
Altogether an excellent book if you are looking for the most premium quality, or a full chronological archive of the Smurfs comics. While the stories are aimed at children, so not like the most mind-blowing or whatever, they are excellent for what they were; the printing/book quality also steps up my rating.
Incredible sequential art and a whole spread of silly stories. The majority of the page count of this book is ironically ‘Johan and Peewit’ tales that tangentially feature the Smurfs, but they’re still very good.
I look forward to the next volume that hopefully has more large Smurfs stories!
Absolutely smurfed to see how it all started. The introductions are incredibly smurfy and really make the collection worth picking up. Had no clue that they were a spin-off ofJohan and Peewit. Looking forward to the next volume...with less Peewit, I hope.
Fantastic art work. Quick comic stories of the Smurfs. The Smurf magic flute. The black smurf The war of the seven springs The Smurfnapper The egg and the Smurfs The fake Smurfs The hunger of the Smurfs The cursed country The hundredth Smurf The purple Smurf The flying Smurf
This is a must own for any Smurfs fan and for anyone that loves reading great fantasy stories with beautiful art. The production quality is beautiful and I love that these stories are all in order. Can't wait for the next one.
