Howard Falco is the author of the new book on human understanding and potential titled, I AM: The Power of Discovering Who You Really Are (Penguin Group Sep. 2010). He is a spiritual teacher and speaker specializing in the power of the mind as it relates to the creation of the experience of life and breaking through any perceived personal limitations.
On the surface Howard seems to be the everyday regular guy. However, after asking some of the "big" questions in life, in 2002 at age 35, in the middle of ordinary life, this married father of two went through dramatic shift in consciousness that revealed the answers to these questions and more about life than he ever imagined knowing. The dramatic depth and breadth of this shift in consciousness unveiled the answers to many of the largest and deepest questions that humanity seeks answers for on a regular basis, such as "Who am I?" "Why am I here?" and "Why do I suffer?"
These realizations immediately revealed the core essence underlying all human creation, action, reaction, joys and suffering. Stunned, inspired and freed by this powerful knowledge, Howard set out to honor what happened by sharing what he learned. He new book "I AM" is the incredible result of this effort.
With a groundbreaking insight into the connection of energy and personal creation, "I AM" explains the very essence of the way we each shape our lives by the way we perceive and react to our world. This awareness helps empower the reader to more of a conscious level of deliberate creation as they learn how much power they have to create the experience of life they desire most.
Howard works with individuals looking for more peace and fulfillment in any area of life such as career, relationships, sports performance or personal issues. His insight helps them to harness more of the creative power of their mind in the effort to accomplish any desire state of mind, goal or dream they have for themselves. It's incredibly nice to see that this book offers so much valuable and unique information just like the author's previous book, I Am. I love that book (and end up referencing it a lot throughout this review). So often when an author writes a good book the subsequent ones are a complete disappointment.
Typically, it's a case of where I don't even get the urge to check out their other books because the one I just read was lackluster and simply not compelling enough for me to even care to explore the rest of the author's works. Then there's the one hit wonders who have written multiple books but they are far too similar to their previous works.
Thankfully this isn't the case here, so it's really nice to discover an author who has written two immensely valuable books full of quality, value-packed information that is more than capable of changing lives. I've still yet to read his "time" book, so in time I may very well add that to the list too.
Content: With that said, content wise I feel the first book (I Am) was better. I remember actively having to hold back on all the highlighting I was doing because I would have ended up with whole chapters being completely plastered in color. This one is still exceptional, it just has a different focus, is shorter and is a little less eye opening.
That book focused more on explaining the nature of reality, while this one's focus was more on the practical side of things (while still providing a lot of valuable information on how reality works). Putting the teachings and learned concepts into action.
It also aims to help you shift your mindset away from complaining/feeling like everything is happening to you. Towards a far more optimal one where you genuinely view the "negative" experiences of life as guideposts that are actually helping you to reach your intentions and what you believe to be true for yourself in life. This is a major focus of the book, and rightfully so as it's importance can never be overstated.
When you work to change your perspective of life, it's impossible for your whole life not to change.
While it's great that each book has its own focus. It was pretty clear to me that this one would be considerably shorter if you were to take away so many of the added ("meh" for me) stories and portions where ideas from previous books were rehashed (which was done well, as they were brief, relevant and important, but overall it still made up for a good chunk of the book (which was already shorter than I Am).
The many ideas that were briefly revisited were good in that it's all valuable information from the first book. But at the same time, you're much better off reading the first book (if you haven't already) because it goes into much greater depth and therefore allows you to really understand and grasp the concepts far better than their brief mentions here (which only really act as a reminder for I Am readers).
Some parts of this book (particularly in the beginning) are written in a more convoluted manner than "I Am". The word choice and sentence structure causes some ambiguity and I never felt that to be the case with "I Am". The writing in that book was noticeably clearer while touching on topics with the same level of depth and complexity. Here it feels slightly more vague at times when it doesn't even need to be.
Improvements: I'm glad there were less poems in this book (probably just because there are less chapters). I found them to be a nice addition to "I Am" simply for the fact that it was "something different" and not all too common for this type of book. But I don't personally find them to be all that useful or to have much staying power. The ideas are already explained well enough in the rest of the text so the language/nature of poetry only serves to convolute that.
There were a lot more stories in this one and I feel like that's something people will enjoy (they give you a small glimpse of the processes he discusses being put into practice). Personally, I didn't really care for most of them as they weren't all that interesting to me (especially not when compared to the great content present in the book in general. Plus stories about people who are ALREADY excelling at their craft typically isn't all that special. They have dedicated years of there life to their field so you would NEVER assume they'd be far off from achieving even more levels of greatness in what they do. It's to be expected. Or at the very least it's obvious the potential is there. But I did absolutely love the trophy one (the Tom Brady one was great too) and wouldn't mind more of those kind of stories (because everyone can relate to and enjoy that kind of story since it happens to ALL of us on a regular basis. It's just that most people don't realize it/remember that what they once wished for has finally come to pass).
Tailored Narration: I love how just like in "I Am" (which I highly recommend even before this book) he made the audio with slight differences from the printed copy so that it flows better and is tailored to listeners (as opposed to readers). For example if in the book it says "In the next few pages you will..." for his narration he'll say something like "I will walk you through...".
It's a really nice touch and the attention to detail is appreciated. It's the exact kind of thing I would do (and prefer to hear).
I was really glad to hear that this book did not come with several rerecorded segments where the narration is clearly and vastly different from the surrounding sentences. The production quality has greatly improved and the narration throughout this book is miles more consistent, with significantly fewer errors/distractions that take you away from the listening experience.
How It Compares to Other Self Help/Spiritual Books What's really great about his books is that they don't at all sound like every other self help book. The information itself, and the way it is presented are both unique to the author so it's very refreshing to come across such great knowledge with those attributes.
Both this book and I Am do a great job of ACTUALLY explaining so many of the common spiritual topics you regularly hear being discussed. Act as if, what trusting in the Universe really means, how time factors into experiencing your manifestations, precisely how your beliefs affect what is possible for you, etc.
These are the kind of books that help you to realize just how vague, and unclear many people's teachings are on these subjects. The gaps in their understanding as well as their inability to clearly and concisely explain the information becomes abundantly clear. And this also helps you to stop blaming yourself for any lack of understanding and trouble implementing these teachings which you would have experienced up until this point.
Ultimately, this book (as well as I Am) comfortably exceeds five stars (I Am even more so than this one) because the information he provides and the clarity with which these concepts are written far surpasses so many of the more generic, vague and considerably less valuable spiritual books out there. And again, I was REALLY pleased to hear that the audiobook narration of this is FAR more consistent, contains far fewer distracting elements and therefore is more enjoyable to listen to.
These books are massively underrated. But that hardly comes as a surprise as it usually takes the general population ages to catch on to anything that's of true value.
In either case, just like with I Am, if you are going to read this one I highly recommend you pick up the audiobook as well as a physical/digital copy (if you're the type of person who's going to be following along and highlighting portions to refer back to).
Three Quotes:
"The creative force of life (or the universe) doesn’t just deliver what you want, but rather seeks to serve you with what you currently need to see, know, and understand so you can more effectively create what you want. "
"Any lack of awareness (or ignorance regarding your truth) will add to the time it takes you to achieve the success you desire."
"Whenever you are ignorant of any truth about yourself or life, you create karma. The karma is that you will eventually have to experience a lesson of awareness."
Invincible: The Mindset of Infinite Potential and the Secret to Inevitable Success by Howard Falco Audiobook read by the author Publishing date: March 25, 2025
This book follows the path of the Law of Attraction, and if you like movies like the Secret, or a fan of Tony Robbins and Joe Dispensa and the like, you might enjoy this. I believe the author does sports coaching (there are a lot of sports reference, especially golf) which requires strong mentality at certain points, so if you an athlete who wants to find mental edge, this book is also helpful for you too.
Personally, I am familiar with the Law of Attraction and this book wasn't an eyeopener. If anything, it was a good reminder that such thing exists as one forgets living a busy life. So I appreciated that. The book was also very approachable and the audiobook read by the author was very easy to listen to. The book also discusses the three limiting beliefs (guilt, shame, and regret) but to me, the most limiting idea is fear. Then, later on in the book, the author indeed discusses fear - so I wasn't sure why he didn't say four limiting beliefs including fear instead. I am sure this is a minor personal preference though, and overall book is compact and easy to listen to.
Thank you NetGalley and Brilliance Publishing for an advanced copy of this audiobook for review purposes. My opinions stated herein are my own.
There were a few moments in the book where I felt myself becoming nervous despite the uplifting words. I think my prior training, or thought patterns were guiding me toward the notion that the book was going to suggest some version of a “mystical” or “enchanted” something I was going to need to buy into—-
THAT is NOT what this book is…
This book is much more substantive. The author is genuinely optimistic. His words are rooted in a well-disciplined, “Invincible” mindset, which was somewhat foreign to me initially. Admittedly, I took for granted that I needed to be sincerely ready (in advance) to open my mind in order to receive the good this book has to offer.
I personally determined I would finish the book when the author said “…the more I accomplished, the more I kept expecting to feel some sense of inner peace and ease…” among other things in the introduction.
Long story short, I am glad I stuck it out. A perspective shift can be an effective tool for managing so many of life’s challenges.
