When a shiny idol is a sad mess in real life, can his number one fan help him stay upbeat?
High schooler Utage Kinoshita works part-time as a housekeeper so she can afford her fangirl obsession with Tamon Fukuhara, her favorite member of boy band F/ACE. When work serendipitously sends her to the home of her idol, she discovers that the real Tamon couldn’t be more different from his wild and sexy onstage persona!
Utage realizes she’s developed romantic feelings for Tamon’s gloomy side, so she quits her job outright! Ori sees this as an opportunity to sweep Utage off her feet, but how will Tamon react to losing his housekeeper? Later, the spotlight turns to F/ACE’s fifth member, the mysterious and muscular Rintaro Kai!
"It looks like my obsession with you gave me an excuse to do what I'd loved all along, and I didn't even know it."
Once again I am surprised by the impact this series has had on me because my greatest takeaway from this volume is how your passions are never useless or pointless. Even when Utage was struggling in this volume if she didn't have Tamon and all her merch and love for him (which was really really good by the way), it still opened a door to connect with the F/ACE members and realize what she loves doing in general. It was beautiful and satisfying and really encouraged my heart.
I know at the beginning of this series I said I really did not like Ori, but he is really rubbing on me, and especially liked him in this volume. He can be mean and even be a jerk, but I do like how he had good intentions and genuinely wanted to help Utage.
I am so excited that in the next volume, we get to really meet Rintaro! He was so different than I expected just based on that last chapter! LOL!
Lastly, I'm thankful this volume didn't end on too bad of a cliffhanger because I feel now that I'm all caught up, I'll be able to wait peacefully for the next volume to release! Can't wait to see what happens next!
The last three pages had so many words stuffed onto them *Insert crying laughing emoji*
As always, I enjoyed this silly little manga. I like that Utage is working through her thoughts and emotions. I'm really starting to wonder if this is ever actually going to be a romance, because it really doesn't feel that way. It might just end up being an adorable contemporary. Which is also fine.
Thank you once again to Viz Media for this ARC for a series that continues to feed my love for idols.
ehhh 4 instead of 5 stars because I really thought we'd see some plot development. There is maybe a little character development and background, but not as much as I thought we'd get.
Now that she’s quit her job as Tamon’s housekeeper, Utage is wallowing in despair and packs up her merch. This somehow turns into hiking with what’s his name who also likes her.
It’s hard not to feel bad for Utage, who realizes that without Tamon worship she has pretty much nothing going for her. She eventually realizes that she loves housekeeping, but I’m not sure if I’d call that much more of a win.
This series is an excellent premise with really inconsistent execution. The idea that all these idols have very bizarre personalities on their down time is actually very funny. But it’s usually never as funny as it sounds here.
Probably the best moment is when the four members of F/Ace we’ve met and learned about are tailing the fifth in a rental car with Utage in tow. It’s like the weirdest reboot of Scooby-Doo you’ve ever seen (plus there’s no mystery).
Mind you, the reveal of the deal with our fifth member is so utterly obvious that it falls a little flat, no matter how extremely broad the story tries to play it. The usual issue I have with Yuki Shiwasu’s style, basically.
There are some reasonably solid gags sprinkled throughout and some welcome emotional touches. Utage learning that it’s okay to want something for yourself moves her that much closer to romance, though she backs away from anything too against her principles as an idol stan.
We also meet her brother and sister, who explain just why she’s so good at what she does in terms of cleaning. The real capper to this entire bit was when Utage’s sister suddenly shifts to being an idol fan herself after Tamon does his thing during a home visit.
I mean, it’s trying. The story is trying its hardest to be as entertaining as possible. I just don’t think it works especially well; we know that fans are sometimes crazy already, but exaggerating them kind of makes them more annoying than funny.
Even the things with F/Ace should be funnier than they are. I appreciate the effort going into this, but I wish the output was on par with the energy going into it all.
3 stars - it’s okay. I like it enough to keep reading, but I think the ideas promise a lot and the manga only occasionally manages to deliver on it.
4.5 stars. This series is enjoyable, being even more so as it goes along and surprises me. This volume had a bit of set-up for the next one, but I loved so much about it. I liked seeing her siblings and having Tamon interact with them. This mangaka does this well, like with her previous series.
oh, so rintaro's a weirdo... well🧍🏼♀️ i was thinking that he will be some kind of sweetheart not a nerd😐 at least not another serious cliffhanger at the end of the volume🤠
we’ve finally met all five members of f/ace on and offstage! and i somehow still cannot decide a favorite. honestly, utage has to be my favorite character overall, but i find natsuki and rintaro super interesting. i LOVE rintaro’s non idol personality, he’s hilarious and i hope utage and him can bond over their shared love of fandom. i think they would be such cute friends! utage’s siblings are super fun, i love that after meeting tamon her sister fully converts to being a f/ace stan and a keito bias, it’s honestly an accurate depiction of being a baby fandom member of an idol group lol it was also nice to see utage’s life outside of tamon

A solid follow-up, ofc no big changes in development since girl loves to sabotage herself, but I'm glad that her own character development was explored albeit in a way that make sense but still frustrates me lol. Like it does explain her self-sabotaging/"selfless" habits (liking to care for others than for herself) but girl pls, explore other hobbies outside of housekeeping.
The last member's secret was a bit obvious but still I had a fun time with the crew. Them all together is always hilarious and can't wait to see how this shakes up the dynamic!
4.5. Utage goes through some character growth and realizes things about her life, and then seems to backslide inexplicably. She sees her life devoid of Tamon. Learns it's ok to put herself first. And is then off buying merch and hoping she wins a raffle to a F/Ace group meet...which just...ಠಿ_ಠ... doesn't make sense. Oddly, the Church of Tamon pop-ups don't really work in this volume either. But I appreciate the growth. Love seeing Tamon make her head explode. Love her siblings' reactions. And then the general shenanigans that you expect pop up and we're on our usual merry way.
Thanks to Viz and Edelweiss for the DRC! First off, it's so cute seeing her siblings and them interacting with her idol! Also seeing most of the group vying for her to come back while she's trying to announce she already is had me giggling.
The Rintaro plot twist! I was not expecting that but witnessing them all pile into a car and tail him was -chefs kiss-. I feel like he'd get along well with our FMC. Different fandom, but they get each other.
So excited for the next volume.

3.5 I like that Tamon goes after her but this one just didn't hit as much. I like the second ML a lot honestly would be happy with either one of them. And I am excited that muscle guy is going to be getting the depth he deserves in the next volume. I like that she acknowledges that this is partially about her liking to take care of him. I could use a little more romance between the the main couple... a girl can dream.
I love this manga! Utage is a really good main character, she realized she has feelings for Tamon, still cares a lot about him and when he needed her, she went to check on him. I love all the members of F/ACE, they’re so funny and are getting sweeter with Utage, they seem to appreciate her. Also, the last part with Rintaro was really funny! Let’s see what happens
To protect her precious Tamon from... herself (?), Utage has quit her job as a housekeeper. And it turns out... Tamon isn't the only one who has a problem with that as 80% of the band show up to convince her to come back.
But what about that final 20%? The one member we've yet to meet. Guess what, it's finally his turn in the spotlight and you'll never guess what his b-side is~
I like reading about fangirls as one myself but I've never experienced the extreme fangirl tendencies that books and manga like this explore. Utage figuring out that outside of being a fangirl she loves cooking and cleaning (as a result of busy parents and raising her siblings) is a little... bleh to me.
Listen, I lowkey thought Rintaro was the hottest idol before this volume, but after seeing his unhinged otaku side I genuinely love him a million times more. He might be my favorite F/ACE member now. Funny and emotional as always >3

LMAO I HONESTLY ENJOYED THE FUCK OUT OF THIS VOLUME 😭 the constant utage explosions and that one scene where she turned tamon into onigiri and ate him had me LOSING IT 😭 and and and we FINALLLLLLLLY got the rintaro reveal and im obsessed, hes such a loser nerd i love him sm alr 🫶🏻
It's so nice to have Kinoshita understand her feelings and to have each character interact with one another. Shiwasu could have easily had this series feel very episodic, but it really does flow and the pacing is just right.

It tells us about how idols have to pretend continuously. Utage annoys me when she talks about Tamon like a God. She lives almost in function of him. Rin's final rambling bored me, at a certain point I jumped straight to the previews.
Love that the hottest one is actually a fucking dweeb lmao
Recap: Tamon finds out Utage quit, ori takes her hiking, she comes running when Tamon gets sick, they all care about him being sick, meet the last member who is stoic on stage but is actually a huge fanboy.
yay!! I'm happy Tamon is progressing so well and is befriending/forming a found-family with his team. and FUCK uri(I forgot his name - the black haired guy) for trying to put his moves on housekeeper. not cool.
Just as predicted with my last review, this volume basically undoes the big quitting your job attempt very quickly. Not very good at having high stakes this one lol. The final member of the band is revealed and it's kind of funny lol!
Utage just be selfish for once! I get so frustrated by these romance manga's because they spend so much time deluding themselves into thinking they couldn't possibly be in love and then running away from it. But I always come back for more so I must be a masochist. This series is honestly great.
Quelques scènes émotionnelles réussies, surtout quand Utage soutient Tamon. Mais globalement, le manque d’évolution commence vraiment à se faire sentir. Les personnages principaux restent bloqués dans l’auto-dévalorisation.
