Updated review: Okay so this was a book I would've loved as a kid. Although I'm rating it three stars, my brain keeps going back to the story telling, the characters and the world building of this one, which is bizarre given most books go in and I don't remember them often after.
I really appreciated the weird and whacky arrange of cast this book has. I know little me would've had a crush on the masked man who comes in to help our main character. I also loved the quirky girl who seems to have two completely different personalities, which are out of control but also ; kind of in control? It was very bizarre. I don't know how else to describe her character arc, other than intriguing. This book reminded me of them cosplay on crack videos I used to watch when I was 12. Despite this; I would read this book again. I would also recommend this book.
Special thanks to Lancashire Libraries for getting this book in. Initial review: Beyblades changed a lot since I was a kid. super childish. a lot of yelling. Bright colours despite being black and white, my brain is boggled by this manga. Interesting story though
I love the art style in this manga!! the detail in the characters is so good. the story line was good with meeting the characters and how they got together and had the same goals of becoming pros. the only problem i had was that 2 characters were really good, nana-iro and blader x, whilst robin was still bad at it, and it didn't change.
This was such a fun manga! It’s about kids who compete in Beyblade tournaments. I didn’t play with Beyblades much as a kid, but a lot of my friends did. This book reminded me of playing during recess in elementary school. I think this book will make adult readers nostalgic and introduce young readers to the game!
Beyblade X, Vol. 1 is a great YA manga!
Thank you Viz Media and Bookinfluencers.com for providing a copy of this book as part of a paid campaign!
A clean read about three kids: two Beyblade amateurs who want to turn pro, and a pro working his way up to the top again for the love of the game.
Great visuals (artist has also done The Promised Neverland).
Nothing particularly groundbreaking, but it's what you'd expect and should be well-received among middle graders. Would recommend, especially for beginning manga enthusiasts.
A pretty fun read, even though I didn't really have much interest in beyblades before I read this. Feels kind of similar to Pokemon in execution, just less cute, so it'll probably appeal to anyone who likes Pokemon manga.
I've always loved to play with beyblades, and this just makes me love it more! I love how there is a reveal of who Blader X is, and why he's hidden his true identity this whole time.
The popularity of Beyblades ebbs and flows, but this adventurous manga about teamwork and achieving your dreams has all the qualities of a great story that kids will find enjoyable even when the toy isn't as hot anymore. The illustrations are amazing! And while there are so many kids manga that have something to do with video games and game adaptations, this one also focuses on the characters and builds them up as interesting people.
