Born 1986 in the prefecture Aichi, Horikoshi first attracted attention in the second half of 2006 when he entered Shueisha's 72th Tezuka Award for Newcomers with his one shot "Nukegara" and made it to the final six, where he gained himself an "Honorable Mention".
Various short stories in Shueisha's Akamaru JUMP followed over the years until he published his one shot "Oumagadoki Doubutsuen" in issue #2/2010 of Weekly Shounen JUMP.

Kouhei Horikoshi is a graduate of Nagoya University of Arts. He was previously an assistant to TANAKA Yasuki.

The gist of this story is how the revived Bakugo finished All for One thanks to All Might’s help. Bakugo didn’t just plummet All for One, but he also got help from Izuku.

There is so much more on this volume particularly the origins of One for All and All for One. The backstories of Yoichi, All for One, Kudo, and Bruce are also explored. How intriguing!

We also got a glimpse of Aoyama and Hagakure here. It’s great to see them fighting for the cause.

Let us not also forget Stain’s last stand to save All Might! What a hero!! 🥺

Aghhh, June and the release of Volume 41 can’t get here soon enough!!!!!

All Might looks freaking epic on this cover and him fighting with all he’s got then some—holy crap it was EPIC!!!! The whole “You can.” scene! Oh my gosh, full circle to Volume One, the heart of the series on full display, I love this!!!!! 😭😭 So, so amazing, I literally have no words! And BAKUGO!!!!! His and Deku’s teamwork, his smile at All Might—my gosh he’s grown SOOOO much, I’m so proud of him and blown away by how much I love him now!!!

Hagakure got her full reveal! And cameos of the two kids from the Heroes Rising movie!! (I don’t know how to spell their names, lol) Not to mention the leaves and wind…I know that makes absolutely no sense if you haven’t read the series (why are you reading this review then?! Go read the series!!!!), but if you have you know and I just love this! I know I’ve said I love everything, but I legitimately do, lol!

I wasn’t expecting an All For One backstory though and boy is that one creepy baby/kid! 😬 His poor brother. This devious idiot deserves all the bad stuff he gets, goodness. And keeping his brother’s hand like Shigaraki…ugh, this one’s an absolute level 20 narcissist, no doubt about it.

And that ending…!!! 😱😱😱 Oh my gosh, Deku!!! How is he going to win this battle?! June can’t get here fast enough!

The end of an Era. . . . .

This was one epic battle sequence and I'm speechless. It's like coming full circle since when Deku first asked All Might whether a quirkless person too could become a Hero.
All Might sure proved that YES, Anyone with a will strong enough could be a Hero.
And, my Batshit crazy bird Bakugo came back to save the day!!!!
THIS is the vital role befitting the Bombshell Hero: Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight, haha.
That name, I never thought it would stick but how well he carries it, lol.

I love Bakugo's character growth the most, I swear.

All for One was a whiny weasel till the very end and I'm glad we're done with him. Or...are we?
It's like he'll never cease to exist. But...has he?

Nesse volume 40, a grande luta de All Might e All For One chega ao fim, com um desfecho já esperado - tendo em vista a saúde do herói. Entretanto, contrariando Sir. Nighteye, o símbolo da esperança não morre, pois um novo herói, seguindo a chama do All Might, surge para resgata-lo.

Bakugo surge na luta de maneira, literalmente, explosiva. Ele "desperta" uma nova evolução para o seu dom, deixando-o mais forte e controlando melhor suas explosões.

Dessa forma, um confronto incrível entre Bakugo e All For One se inicia, resultando em paginas belíssimas de ação.

Por fim, com o termino da luta, os holofotes se voltam a Deku vs Shigaraki, que travam uma luta minuciosa, com Deku evitando que o vilão chegue ao chão e ative sua habilidade de decaimento.

Contudo, mesmo sendo um volume repleto de ação, acredito que ele também contribua para trabalhar a figura do herói, Legado e o significado que os herois tem para a população.

The end of an era for sur! I love it and taught it finally give Bakugo the hero place he deserved. I also think that that drawing of the action scene are a bit all over the places since a couples of- volumes, almost messy, and sometime it makes it hard to truly see what is happening. Still a big fan of the series and curious to see where it will go after that.

Are we done yet?
I mean there is a bit of worldbuilding going on that should have already been covered. Instead the fight that has been going on for - well forever - takes a few breaks for more exposition. It is also really shitty to kill off (apparently) some popular heroes all but off page. It is not bad here but could be better.

"one for all couldn't handle you alone...so i'm here to step up and finish the job" one thing i wanna add here is that this translation isn't bad but i distinctly remember in the translation i read when the chapter dropped katsuki says "i'm the guy who steps in..when that nerd (izuku <3) can't handle it all on his own!" and I JUST PREFER THAT TRANSLATION MORE i also remember the public cookery of the translator for not being able to express these moments adequately so--and as someone who has been victimised by john werry's shitty translations...caleb cook is not much better

Okay, so we're DEFINITELY ramping up towards the end here. We've done a few overviews of the different areas of battle, and seen how some of them have ended, Aoyama has managed to become a hero just like he wanted (although with some surprise help!), All Might and AFO's battle has ended (for better or worse), Bakugo is BACK IN THE GAME, BABY, and it seems that we're going to be focused on one last battle... that of Izuku and Shigaraki.

I feel like the point of Armored All Might is partly to reference Genos from One Punch Man? All Might's armor constantly gets destroyed as he tries new things, which is, like, Genos's whole gimmick. Unless Iron Man erodes his own armor as well? But I don't think I've seen that happen much before.

All for One Goal is pretty sick for an Ultimate Move.

It's funny that AfO and OfA were born as literal whoresons, but VIZ has to be fancy and PC by using the term "sex worker." Based on her appearance, I'm sure Horikoshi means to say "look how gross she is, as the mother of the most vile villain known to Japan!," but of course VIZ has to treat her like a college student using OnlyFans to pay for her new iPhone! Also, I feel there's something more inherently "vulgar" to the phrase "sex worker," as it appears in A FUCKING SHŌNEN MANGA. "Prostitute" sounds more technical, clinical, detached. Scientific, almost.

It's extremely impressive Horikoshi gives Bakugo the win against AfO. Rival characters often get fucked out of defeating major arc bosses in shōnen manga. Has Vegeta ever beaten a big villain?

What's this about turning villains into babies, by the way? AfO, Muzan, arguably Sukuna.
