I was never much for the British comics but Rogue Trooper was the exception for me. I really enjoyed the story and character. Might be because i am a retired military guy. Recommended

A lot of cool concepts but a bit repetitive when all the stories are read one after to the other. The longer arcs, especially Fort Neuro, work best because they introduce the wilder ideas and visuals as well as other characters who stick around long to make an impression. Would have been nice if this collection had been in color, but now I'm excited for the movie from Duncan Jones.

I borrowed this from the library for nostalgic reasons, not thinking I would actually read the whole thing. I was a big 2000 AD fan when I was young, from issue #4 (19th March 1977) to some time in the early 1980s (probably 1984). I assumed the comic would now be too juvenile for me. But I was pleasantly surprised at how well drawn it is. It still stands up. The stories were somewhat repetitive, but there was enough of substance to keep me going. I recalled very few details of any of the stories. Only one ('Pray for War') had lodged in my memory, I don't know why.

An impulse buy and I almost regret this purchase as I will now have to get the other three volumes. Haven't seen these stories in decades. Vaguely recall some of the earlier strips from reading my wee brother's 2000AD now and again, but still thoroughly enjoyed it. When I saw Robspierre the memories came flooding back, so this must have been when I started to buy 2000AD myself. It was great to see Robspierre again and his English cousin, Roger. A fantastic blast from the past.
