The explosive conclusion to the first arc of LySandra Vuong’s hit Webtoon Covenant—collected for the first time in print!
With the exorcists of the Church of Providence badly beaten after an encounter with the powerful demon Belial, Ezra is forced to confront his own shortcomings—and worse, his own lack of conviction. Without it and the power it brings, can he possibly stand against the forces of darkness threatening the city of Los Demonios? Meanwhile, Sunny—Ezra’s mysterious charge—continues to uncover frightening truths about his past. As the One Who Never Fell, is he ultimately more demon than human? Or something else entirely?
With lives on the line, Sunny and Ezra must make a difficult choice. How do you keep your faith when your world is falling apart?
This volume collects episodes 37–50 of the hit Webtoon Covenant!
Not much plot but a LOT of combat, tension and movement. beautifully drawn, with crisp, dramatic colours, excellent motion from panel to panel, and all of the drama. Electric use of KAPOW! impact text, though if I do have a grumble, it's that I could honestly have done with a bit more character and dialogue.
As the demonic activity increases, so does the tension between Sunny and the Church of Providence. One of them who can see manna senses that Sunny isn’t entirely human. But Sunny thinks he is and their paranoia is grating on his nerves. Has he been given sanctuary or has he been imprisoned? When Ezra foolishly gives into Sunny’s demand for a night out, matters get out of hand.
The drama, action and stakes are higher, especially when the High Church shows its face again. They’re not happy with the Church of Providence in general and their preferential treatment of Sunny in particular. With having to defend themselves on both fronts—against the High Church and the increasing incursion of demons—the Church of Providence is sore beset.
However, they remain a cohesive unit. There is no division about protecting Sunny, even when it becomes painfully clear that the demons targeting him are willing to cut a bloody swath through anybody to get him. Their persistence is baffling, although the reader gets more clues as to why the demons want Sunny so badly.
The ending to this installment is both horrifying answer and a tantalizing cliffhanger. As for the slow-burn romance this reader was hoping for—well, that’s more suggested by the cover than borne out by the contents. The closest they come to holding each other is in the hospital, which is hardly the scene for romance.
So this installment in the Covenant series is a mixed bag for me. However, I’m still interested in seeing what happens next.
An incredibly engaging story that is well constructed and expertly delivered through beautiful illustration.
Volume three successfully brought together multiple storylines in a (mostly) satisfying way.
The only thing holding me back from giving it five stars is the relationship development between Ezra and Sunny. This series takes slow-burn romance to an extreme. We’re three volumes in and there is still basically no relationship between the main characters. I’m holding out hope it will come together in a satisfying way, but it doesn’t feel like it’s going to get there. This volume did a good job of showing that Ezra will be there for Sunny, so you can start to see how Sunny could let Ezra in. Where it’s lacking for me, however, is with the progression of the relationship from Ezra’s perspective. With the benefit of Ezra’s POV and internal monologue, it still seems like the only reason he has anything to do with Sunny is because Gabriel directed him to watch over Sunny.
I’m reserving further judgment until I see the next volume, but I’m definitely looking forward to reading the next volume with the hope that it will deliver!
Two words: Action. Packed. Sunny's Dad is a demon, his mom and sister perished in what is, now, the second biggest demon battle ever and now Sunny has been transformed into his Nephilim body making him 10 times stronger then any demon the team has faced. The Fuck?! Last book Ezra was told to fast track his conviction, and all it took was the love of his life to be like hey, maybe try living for yourself and not holding yourself to unrealistic expectations of greatness, for him to double down now and hrow a wing?! Gabriel saw all he needed and gave him that blessing 🙌🏻 Sunny's cheeks during that hug. . . I sense a happy and healthy home once we figure out all this demon shit. God this series is great even a second time around!

I really just want to devolve into fangirl screaming, but I won’t. This was such a good volume! I loved that we got to see so much development in both Ezra and Sunny. I loved that Ezra finally worked through his crisis of faith and found a new conviction for himself (thanks to Sunny’s little pep talk). And I kind of loved that even though Sunny still had no idea what was going on with anything he still tried to do the right thing for everyone else (even if it was to his own detriment). Not to mention the massive cliffhanger that this ended on!! I loved all of it and I can’t wait to read the next one. Volume three is getting four and a half stars!
I need the new release as of yesterday! The puppy Ezra is coming into his own. I am side eyeing one of Sunny's side comments....but *(breathe and don't think about bitch slapping the emo).
Daddy Priest (never thought I would ever put those words together) is coming is coming through.
we have some twinkle of the additional trama Sunny went through. Nope..can NOT unsee that.
4.75 stars rated up! So, so glad I decided to take a chance when I originally started this series. The artwork is phenomenal, the story is unique, and each book builds and builds as you get deeper into the story. I'm also enjoying Sunny and Ezra's developing relationship (hoping to see more connection in the next volume pleaaaassseee author!!!) Now I can't believe I have to wait until next year after that cliffhanger ending!
I wish this story had more ..plot? I know I’m reading it after it’s been posted online, but this volume was very much “great gowns”. Like again, can’t compliment the character art enough but the plot left a lot to be desired. I’m STILL waiting for the love story I know is coming but please throw me a bone!!
I will say I’m happy we finally got answers about Sunny’s backstory though. Even though we got it at the tail end 😂
Lysandra Vuong delivers a hauntingly beautiful continuation in Covenant: Volume Three, weaving myth, memory, and magic into a narrative that is as emotionally resonant as it is lyrically written. This installment deepens the series’ exploration of ancestral bonds, trauma, and survival, with Vuong’s signature poetic voice anchoring the reader in both the ethereal and the visceral.
Well finally got my hands on volume three and if I’m honest I’m still very addicted to this story and graphic novel. The story line is amazing, and keeps you coming back for more and the art is just crazy good. Still madly in love and need more!
I knew there was a reason I kept giving this one a chance. There's still more flash than substance, but things are moving so fast and we've been with the characters so long that I no longer feel like we need that much development to enjoy the action.
