Kimberly Giles is a sought-after executive coach, author, and speaker. She is the president and founder of Claritypoint Life Coaching and a popular TV and radio personality. She was named one of the top twenty Advice Gurus in the Country by Good Morning America in 2010 because of her unique perspective and ideas on life. Since then hundreds of her articles have been published in newspapers and magazines.

Kimberly’s unique perspective was influenced by the work of Viktor Frankl, the author of Man’s Search for Meaning and the founder of logotherapy. His story of survival in concentration camps during World War II greatly impacted Kimberly as she struggled through difficult challenges and periods of suffering in her own life. Her journey hasn’t been an easy one. Kimberly has battled chronic illness and a whole spectrum of problems and trials. But it was these challenges that facilitated her discovering the life changing formulas you are about to learn. She has taken the principles Dr. Frankl taught and used them to develop a simple system for healthy thinking and happy living. She has also been influenced by the Course in Miracles, which helped her to see overcoming fear is the key to happiness and success.

Kimberly was also greatly influenced by the work of Dr. Robert Hartman, the father of axiology. There is a version of the Hartman Value Profile Assessment available at her website for those who want to understand how their fears affect their subconscious thinking. You can take it for free at http://www.claritypointcoaching.com

Claritypoint Coaching provides executive life coaching and corporate training to individuals and organizations who are interested in eliminating fear. The company also offers Coach Certification to those interested in facilitating the Claritypoint program.

This is a self-help book by a counselor. I think I would have been better if I were younger. Many of the "lessons" (20 chapters) are things I've learned through the years. Long ago I listened to a talk at a Regional Conference by Gordon B. Hinckley. He told us to not live in fear. I believe it was at the time of the gulf war. I took his message to heart. Kimberley Giles says we have 2 options: live in fear or live in love. I chose love way back then. There are two ideas I especially liked in this book. First is that life is a classroom and not a test. I really liked that idea and think it fits well into my understanding of the purpose of life - to learn, to become. That is done better when we learn from our mistakes instead of thinking we have failed the test. The other good chapter was Edifying Other People. The idea here is to see others not as better than or worse than myself, but to see them as "the same as you" - of infinite worth and also a student in life's classroom. I liked this quote, "A key to edifying others is usually to keep your mouth shut!" I can do better at that! This is a book you should review now and then because it is encouraging us to work and change = a rather slow process.

Probably not for atheists

If you're religious, I highly recommend this book. The whole first chapter is about God. In it, the author promises the whole book isn't religious. But it is.

If you're an atheist, expect to translate a lot of God-talk into your own terminology to make it useful.

This book does have some great nuggets.
