Just finished Phaze, the second book in S.C. Mitchell’s action-packed futuristic romance in which laboratory accidents result in superheroes and superheroines. Kayla Armstrong, a chemical engineering clothing designer and Z-BOT Joel Weisberg have always had a thing for each other but never dared acknowledge it until she gets doused with her own experiment. Now that Kayla’s body has been altered on an atomic level, she finds herself on equal footing with the indestructible Joel. Where bullets bounce off Joel, they pass right through Kayla. Still, forces continue to get in the way of their blossoming relationship. Most worrisome, is when Joel’s archenemy and former tormentor shows up for another go-around. I love Mitchell’s cast of characters. He creates a Hollywood-worthy world of action and heroics. I can’t wait for the next in his series!

Phaze is a wildly entertaining, fast-paced mash-up of physics, superheroes, and the paranormal, sure to be enjoyed by anyone who likes the popular Marvel superhero movies and comics. This story of a female superhero will leave you breathless and turning pages to find out what happens next when brainy Kayla Armstrong literally falls into a chemical stew and emerges with the ability to 'phaze' through objects. Good thing she's already part of author SC Mitchell's Xi-Force, so the Z-bots and scientists can help her hone her new skills, and she can help them contend with new and dangerous enemies. This is a super book 2 in this 3-book series.

The XI Force team are back with a vengeance with Joel being their new leader this time. But an old threat is starting trouble again. Someone Joel thought was out of his life for good. Just as he thought he was happy with lab worker Kayla, things go boom. This book can be read as a standalone book or as part of the series. Filled to the brim with SciFi gadgets and cool costumes this book packs a punch. Great action and there are wolves. What more could you ask for? This series is becoming increasingly more exciting to read. Reviewed by Jennifer

Sexy Sci-fi Suspense
The only thing I disliked about this book is that it ended!!! "Phaze" is a super hero smorgasbord! I fell in love with the sexy, heroic characters, the vivid, action-packed world, and the mind-blowing, thrilling storyline. I felt like part of Xi-bot Force as I routed for Kayla and Joel to find their HEA. I want super powers like S. C. Mitchell used to craft this sexy, sci-fi, suspense thriller that has me begging for more!

Yay, a female superhero! Phaze is a scientist who begins to be able to move through walls. She and Joel and Chris form a tightly knit team, and their camaraderie is palpable. In this story, they introduce another new character: Wylde, more on him later. A mystical little girl, her brother, evil henchmen zipping in and out, this book has it all. Fun read.
