Just when her romantic life was finally starting to settle in, Sidney Sinclair is buried in an emotional meltdown…
Sidney tried to dismiss the mysterious Adrian McAllister once and for all, but instead found herself falling in love with him, despite her relationship with Ray Ryker.
Now, to complicate things even further, her rock star boyfriend has suddenly gone missing. On the search to find her boyfriend Sidney begins to rely on Adrian even more. Causing her heart to bounce back and forth between the two men leaving her confused and emotionally exhausted.
But there is one question that trumps them all “Which world is real?”
Is it the world of reality where she has comfortably known and understood Ray for years? Or is it the world of the subconscious where she struggles to understand the eerie presence of Adrian’s passion for her?
When the murderer of her beloved friend is finally revealed, Ray is found to be the next on the fatal list causing Sidney to choose between the two men.
In a life or death struggle with the two men who mean the most to her, she’s left having to choose between Ray’s life, or the addictive Adrian who will do anything to possess her forever…
Cynthia Austin lives in Northern California with her husband, two boys, and Olde English Bulldogge named Count Dogula. They love all things horror, gothic, and Victorian which prompts her friends to dub them as “The Adams Family.”
She is an avid reader who may be slightly obsessed with music. She hears music in a way that she believes the artist intended it to be heard: visually, with a storyline that follows. Listening to the songs by her favorite artists, she was inspired to write her first series titled “The Pendant.”
Cynthia has been published twice in The Writer’s Monthly Magazine as well as the online news site, Yahoo! Voices. She currently attends Diablo Valley College, in Pleasant Hill, California, where she is working to achieve her degree in English.
Like in book 2, this book picks up right where the previous book left off. I won’t reveal spoilers but let me just say that this book is the best of the three.
Sidney has to make a choice but the choice she makes will change the lives of many. Her dreams ramp up and suddenly, her dreams are playing out in her life… for real. The curtain between fantasy and reality falls, only Sidney doesn’t realize until it’s almost too late.
Will she choose Ray (who’s missing) or Adrian (seductive dreamy man and exact opposite to Ray) and will her choice lead to certain death?
Filled with high stakes and higher emotions, the conclusion to the Pendant series left me gasping. I was an emotional wreck after I finished it and that credit goes to Cynthia Austin. She plunges the reader inside Sidney and trust me, you feel everything she goes through.
I love the way the author used The biblical story of Adam and Eve to create an unbelievable tale. The one thing I have to comment on is the characters. She did a wonderful job of creating characters that I felt and really seeing things through the eyes of the narrator, Sydney.
I felt just as confused as and did. One minute I wanted her with Adrian, the next I wanted her with Ray. It was these conflicting emotions that made the story and characters real. Wonderful story.
If you read last weeks blog on book two, it should come as no surprise that I picked this one up as soon as I had time to actually dive into it. Book two ending in another cruel cliffhanger. This one was equally addictive as the second. The characters getting even more complex, the nail biting tension between Ray and Sidney, it's all there and you will love to hate their relationship. One minute you are shouting at her for being stupid, the next you are crying that they can't possibly really be over forever. Then there is her confusing relationship with Adrian. Are they friends? Are they more? Who loves who? All these questions are answered and lets not even talk about this wicked twist right in the middle of the book. I couldn't believe what happened. Really.
All these loose ends are tied up in a way that I don't think everyone will see coming. I highly recommend you pick this series up if you enjoy a good paranormal romance. It's a clean read, no graphic sexual content, and frankly it's so well written that you won't miss it.
Again, this book picks up right where the last one left off.
Ray springs a surprise on Lindsey after their dinner date and she finds herself on Adrian's doorstep. Things turn out differently from what she expected.
Lindsey continues to have the dreams about Samael and she is still torn between Ray and Adrian. When she makes a decision which she intends to see through, the unexpected happens. She finds herself in a dilemma once again.
It comes to a point where her dreams become part of her reality and everything takes a turn for the worse. She doesn't know who to trust anymore.
This final part of the series took me on a real emotional rollercoaster and I found myself unable to put the book down.
Is the ending going to be as bleak as it appears?
Great series, fabulous story line and interesting characters. What more could one ask for?
I received this ARC from Indie Sage PR in exchange for an honest review.
This was given as an ARC for an honest review! Plus, I do not give out any spoilers and this time it's going to be hard since I LOVED this book. I have read this series from the beginning. I was hooked from the first book and I am still thinking how remarkable this journey has been. I loved going along with Sidney. I couldn't stop reading tonight which has been hard since I had been ill, but OMG I didn't know what was real? What was happening? What was going to happen? Will I like it this ending? All of the questions I had were all answered in such a beautiful way. It was PERFECT Cynthia Austin. I enjoyed your series but I really Loved this book. I am so glad that I was introduced to your writing. I am smiling ear to ear. It was Amazing!!!!
Ever since Sidney put on the necklace that belonged to her mother she has been plagued by weird dreams and even more b her insecurities in her relationship with Ray. When Ray asks her to marry him Sidney freaks out! How can she marry Ray when she loves Adrian as well? What would be the right choice here? Can she really give up her past and her feelings for Ray to be with Adrian? When her granny comes to and spouts off warnings can Sidney really just ignore them? Who knows if Soul Mates are real but if they are who is hers? A great conclusion to the pendent series which will leave you just as breathless as the others have.
Sidney thought she knew what she wanted. She thought she had it all figured out but now she must make a choice. A choice that will change her life forever. Who will she choose and will it be the right choice? WOW.. this was one heck of an ending to a gripping trilogy. Ms. Austin is a very talented story teller. She grabbed me from Between Dreams (book 1) and held on until the last sentence of this book.
I enjoyed this third book much more than the first two. There is a bit of the same writing style as the other two where you dip into being fully submerged into Sidneys mind set. Here we have the story finally unfolding bringing some excitement to the reading experience. All in all it is a great storyline idea. The plot and background when it comes to light is great. I was given this story for an honest review and this is mine.
Firstly, I picked up this book before reading the first two in the series, but it still wasn't a problem to sinking the tale or the characters.
The summary of this book grabbed me right away, and the actual story was even better.
Sidney finds herself, and her heart, caught between two men. One has asked her to marry him; the other rouses her desire and love like no other. Thanks to her inability to decide and some bad choices, she's caught between them like a tug-a-war. Add the strange dreams, which tell her that one of the guys is actually evil, and she begins to wonder if her decision will have more consequences than she ever thought they might.
This is one of those reads, which is hard to put down. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of love triangles, but this isn't exactly the usual love story. From the beginning, it's clear that one of these guys might not be as good for Sidney as she thinks, but it's impossible to tell which one. Her dreams add an unexpected twist and raise the stakes in surprising ways. It soon becomes clear that it's not only Sidney's heart, which is on the line.
The pacing is extremely well done, and while some of the religious aspects weren't exactly down lines I agree with, it was definitely a unique and interesting read. Sidney doesn't always make the best decisions, but she's still easy to root for...especially when the true 'game' comes to light. I read most of this book in one sitting and couldn't wait to see how it turned out. It's definitely an exciting read.
From the first page the characters are well formed and invite you into a world that young adults will eagerly delve into. Cynthia Austin seamlessly melds religion, fantasy and real world issues that her readers can relate to. A tale of discovery and coming of age that gives a new take on a classic love theme. This three-book series is sure to keep readers spellbound and coming back for more.
