When a battle of wills becomes a game of lust, one wrong move could be fatal.

For Detective Ian Ford, "nightmare" doesn’t begin to cover it. Whatever demons prompted Stacy to cut and run have him tied up in knots. Worse, his ex is dressed to kill any man with a pulse, and Ian is seeing red. If Stacy wants trouble, she’ll find it. Only Ian’s going to make damned sure that the only trouble she gets is with him. There are no rules. They either both win, or they both lose. But this time, there’s an extra player—one who’s determined to make sure this is the very last game Stacy plays…

THREE TELL ME YOU LOVE ME STARS.

description

This short story is the perfect accompanying novella to the McCade Brothers series. If you enjoyed 'lover Undercover' by the lovely Samanthe Beck then nothing should stop you from grabbing this pleasantly put together, short romance story. As usual this author delivered the sexy, sweet and light hearted suspense to bring together an enjoyable read and although I didn't fall in complete book lust this time around there was plenty involved to keep me interested.

What's it all about?
Stacy Roberts has always been on the wrong side of right, but now that she's on a one way road to stardom she can't seem to shake of the past that has left her feeling a little inadequate. Stacy has found herself not only saying goodbye to her old lifestyle as a stripper, but also dealing with hate mail from somebody who despises her self made success and on top of all that she is also pushing away the one and only man who has made her believe in love. Detective Ian Ford has found himself heartbroken after the woman of his dreams can't commit to a future together but he's not about to let go without a fight. But when a real threat comes to tear them apart forever they may have to fight for a love that is worth more than just Wicked games.

description

What did I like?
There is no doubt that Samanthe Beck has a talent for writing hot, steamy grab-yourself-a-fan style sex scenes. She is also able to put together a well planned story line, with humour and romance and it certainly doesn't hurt that she delivers delicious heroes. As for this story she has added a great short story to an already likeable series and I've heard that it only gets better. I did appreciate the overly lovely ending to the story, nothing makes me happier than when an author puts the romantic emphasis on an over the top romantic ending, so with that being said you can expect to be feeling good once you finish this predictable but nevertheless likeable novella.

description

Why not five?
As much as I appreciate this authors writing style there was something amiss for my tastes, it all fell a little flat and even though there were moments that I liked, mostly I felt like I was just going through the motions of reading instead of falling in love with the characters and story line.

Final thoughts ...
If you want a quick easy brazen fix that you take your reading time into a slightly unbelievable albeit entertaining story line then this may just be the novella for you. Go grab it on release day. Enjoy, kisses.

5 Stars! Loved it!! The perfect novella!

If you haven't read Lover Undercover, you might want to do that first to get a better grasp on the character relationships.

I adored Ian and Stacy in that book and was hoping they would get their own story, but this short certainly had enough depth that it satisfied my need to have more of them. Kylie, Stacy's twin sister, and Trevor, her fiancée and Ian's partner, are front and center in this book and I was thrilled. It was good to have ALL of them back. There was a perfect balance of fun, suspense, and some hot Halloween lovin'!! Ian and Stacy still had that off the charts chemistry that they had in Lover Undercover. The dialogue was excellent, the story wrapped up nicely and there was even an epilogue, yes an epilogue! Samanthe Beck knows how to make good use of words! She is an author to watch!

I really enjoyed this one. I loved that Ian never wavered in his love in Stacy. I loved that not once was he tempted to try and move on or forget her. I like suspense and it had that in spades.

Safe with the exception that kept me from rating five stars.

I like this book OK, but I just felt like I had picked a book up and started reading the last few chapters. I know it's a novella, but I didn't have enough story to connect with the main characters. Just an OK read for me.

Another great Entangled Novella

In Wicked Games we are treated to Ian’s partner Trevor and his comical one-liners. Trevor and Ian are police officers who just happen to be dating twin sisters, although Ian split up from Stacy a month ago, and is currently working on getting them back together.

Unfortunately Stacy is harbouring insecurities about her past, and is also dealing with a prospective stalker. Ian’s protective instincts kick in big time at a Halloween fancy dress-party, where things all come to a head between them and then the stalker turns nasty.

I have to admit it did all get a bit predictable from here on in, but the story was well written, what with the baddie turning up and who it was etc, but I enjoyed the characters and who doesn’t want their own “Halloween Hero” like Stacy get’s in Ian. Great epilogue as well!

Ian and Stacy had been together for a year before Stacy panicked and ended the relationship when it started to get too serious. She loves him but she's worried that her past as a stripper will have a negative effect on his career as a detective. Ian knows all her deepest secrets though and they don't bother him in the slightest. He is determined to win her back so when a stalker starts sending her threatening letters it gives him the perfect excuse to insert himself back into her life.

Although Wicked Games does work as a stand alone I think you'll get much more enjoyment out of it if you've read Lover Undercover first. I loved Stacy and Ian's side romance in LU and that is where you see them meet for the first time and fall in love. This was my favourite story in the anthology, I absolutely loved catching up with these two and also seeing how Kylie and Trevor are doing a year down the line. Ian gets quite a treat in the private room of the strip club where the Halloween party is being held - this is definitely a steamy series! - but can he protect Stacy from her stalker and convince her to take a chance on love?

First of all, Wicked Games is a standalone but it contains some spoilers relating to the first book, Lover Undercover. For that reason, I strongly recommend you read Lover Undercover first.

Stacy Roberts is finally able to tell all the naysayers in her small hometown of Two Trout, Tennessee that she has finally made something of herself. She is the star of a new hit tv show and everyone is in love with her. Everyone includes her hot Detective boyfriend Ian Ford and his family.

When Ian asks Stacy to take their relationship to another level, she starts to think that Ian is only with her for the short term. She breaks up with him, but only leaves them both miserable. When Stacy receives threats from “Your Worst Nightmare”, Ian returns to her life to keep her safe.

Stacy wants to return to her wild and carefree life before Ian. She’s planning on using the Deuces’ Gentlemen’s Club Halloween party to hook up with a random stranger. Stacy’s little angel costume is totally at odds with who she is and what she’s planning on doing. Stacy’s hook up with “The Cat Burglar” aka Ian is hotter and more amazing than she even thought possible. But when “Your Worst Nightmare” shows up, Stacy’s and Ian’s hook up could be their last.

I LOVE Stacy and Ian like crazy. The banter between them is wonderful. Not only are they both fun characters, but the sex between them is crazy hot. Stacy is insecure but strong in her own right. She has a mouth on her. Surprisingly, even with the possibility of death, she doesn’t back down. Ian is perfect for her because he uses his psychology degree to figure her out and understand what she needs, when she needs it, whether she says anything or not.

I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Hopefully, all the main characters from this book and Lover Undercover will make appearances.

3.5 stars..

This is the 2nd book in the McCade Brothers series, focussing on Detective Ian Ford, work colleague of Trevor from Lover Undercover.

Ian’s love interest is Stacy Roberts, the outgoing, sex kitten twin that we met in the previous book. She had started her professional life as a pole dancer, whilst chasing an actresses dream. Her luck had drastically changed, and she found herself very famous, very quickly as she ran with the best of them in Hollywood.

Ian and Stacy had discovered each other and were more than well established at the end of the previous book, but this story starts with them being estranged.

I did enjoy this story more than the first, as the female protagonist had a little more gumption. Ian and Stacy’s journey towards identifying the issues in their relationship, was suitably steamy, appropriately suspenseful, and I engaged completely with their characters.

I put my day on hold and read this in one sitting. I was super pleased to read Ian and Stacy's story from Lover Undercover. I'm thrilled I got to read their sexy, fun story. Catching up with Kylie and the hotter than hot Trevor, also from Lover Undercover is always a good thing.

Ms. Beck is a definite auto-buy.

Put your day on hold, sit back and hang on for the ride. You won't be disappointed.

Wicked Games was a fun, sexy, action packed read!

If you are looking to dip your toe into the McCade brothers series without the commitment of the full stories than this is the book for you. I guarantee you will want to read all of them by the time you are done. This was my first experience with this series and author and I am loving both! Samanthe Beck is able to get your pulse racing while at the some time making your heart melt!

Didn't love it, didn't hate it.

It was a second-chance romance. I liked that they broke up only 6 weeks ago and hadn't moved on from each other (AKA slept with other ppl). There's only one sex scene, but hot damn did it last a while. The story pretty much lasts one night, and let me tell ya, I didn't not see the villain coming. Good job surprising me.

That's pretty much all my thoughts regarding the novella.

If you have read Lover Undercover, then this novella is an absolute must read as it focusses on Stacy & Ian, whilst treating us to a little more of Trevor and Kylie.

Short it may be, but this Halloween turns into a true nightmare and Samanthe Beck delivers everything from suspense to sexiness.

I originally read this as part of the ‘Lovers Unmasked’ Anthology

Another fantastic book by one of my favorite authors! This read is super-sexy and I love the fun, sarcastic banter between the two main characters. Stacy makes me laugh with the mouth she has on her, and Ian is just a panty-melting, smoking-hot hero. As usual, another terrific read with loads of chemistry and a great storyline!

Very hot, short story
My new favorite author for entangled short stories. I love the way this author writes, the style is tight but flowing (lol) but packs a lot within the short length of the story. Great reads.

Stacey has just got her big acting break, but she can’t enjoy it - she broke up with her boyfriend, Ian, because she feared she was getting too close to him, and she seems to have a stalker/blackmailer who wants her to quit her new big role. So she heads to a Halloween party determined to find a man to distract her - not knowing that Ian is there in disguise, determined to win her back and protect her from her stalker.

I enjoyed this. I found Stacey a really irritating character in the preceding novel, Lover Undercover, but I liked the glimpse of the dynamic between her and Ian. I enjoyed how it played out in this novella: it’s very hot and steamy - the sex scenes are very well-written and Ian and Stacey had great chemistry - and it had a really decent dose of angst that worked really well for me.

However, I found the stalker storyline very bland; it was very obvious to me who it was and I found the ending very melodramatic. I didn’t actually think this novella required this subplot - it felt like an afterthought. But overall this was a decent novella - very quick and easy to read if you’re looking for something angsty and steamy.

Content Notes: Second chance.

Sooooooo glad that the author did Ian and Stacy’s story. It was a quick read and honestly really good. It bad all the bells and whistles and then some. I think finishing the story that started for these two in Kylie’s book was good. Picking up right where they left off. I loved the VIP room. I loved each of their perspectives though the book. It was just really cute. Hit all my love story requirements. The heart break, the drama, the villain, and the happily ever after.

This was good. I enjoyed it. But it felt like I was reading this book from the middle. I checked to see if book one was about this couple just in case. It is not. Wish that there was more of the story. More of a background and emotions. Dont get me wrong there is some but since I felt like I was missing so much I just needed more of something.

Equally sexy and romantic. But it was just too short. I think Stacy and Ian also deserve more pages. But I am willing to overlook that fact because this author is such a damn good writer.

The mystery/ suspense part also delivers. Our villain here is quite predictable but it does not in any way made me like this book less. Now I am itching to go through with this series until the end!

I wanted more angst! Imagine 6 weeks of no communication from the guy after breaking it off because he was “waiting her out”? All the while he was pining his ass off for her. I need more motivation, Ian! You gotta show your love better than that, not an easy fade.

5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A short, sharp, fun read, with good character development and action.

I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this novella given I didn’t warm to Stacy when she was introduced in Lover Undercover. Samanthe Beck really redeems Stacy here and makes you fall for the sexy Ian over just a short 134 pages. Because this is a follow on novella you really need to have read Lover Undercover first as there are major spoilers and it gives a lot more background to the two protagonists - Stacy and Ian.

The novella cuts right into the action picking up right after the epilogue of Lover Undercover, this means there’s no insta love and we get good character development and action, things that often don’t do well in a novella format. Within a couple of pages I went from being mildly irritated by Stacy to rooting for her and Ian to get their HEA.

Since I’m still new to the whole romance world, I feel like a bull in a china shop. I kind of stumble into reading books. Sometimes they’re awesome and sometimes it ends up being a dud. I guess that can really be said for all of reading, but I’m all over the map with the romances. I’m also still trying to sort through romance versus erotica, which is not fun when you pick up the wrong one.

I did not like Stacy, at all. I don’t expect characters to be perfect because that’s a bit ridiculous, but some aspect of them has to be likable. I read Stacey as a selfish, party girl who didn’t care as long as she got her way on her terms. Even the reasoning behind her decisions left a lot to be desired and I still didn’t feel much in the way of sympathy for her.

Ian was okay. I’m sure he’s a nice guy and totally swoon-worthy, but I didn’t get much of that impression in Wicked Games. To be honest it seemed like the biggest part of Stacy and Ian’s relationship was sex. That didn’t fly with me.

The story itself was okay. It might’ve been better if it had been drawn out a bit more, but I get that Wicked Games is a novella. I’m going to be completely honest, it seemed like the whole thing was written just for the sex scene. I’m not a fan of that because I love me some plot.

I didn’t particularly enjoy Wicked Games, which was disappointing because I pretty much love Samanthe Beck’s writing. I probably wouldn’t recommend Wicked Games, unless you’re a huge fan of the McCade Brothers series.

Typical romantic suspense. Light on the suspense, heavy on the romance and falling a bit below standard with regards to the plot.

This novella follows the twin sister of Kylie from Lover Undercover. Apart from their initial meeting in the first book most of the relationship between Stacy and Ian is off page. By the time we catch up with them in this novel, they've dated for a year and split up six weeks earlier.

I was a bit disappointed with that, I really liked Stacy in the first book and I would've liked to see more of how Ian eroded her defences and convinced her to date him. Instead, both have been miserable for six weeks.

They reconnect at a Halloween party after Kylie tells Trevor and Ian about the stalker Stacy seems to have acquired. The stalker plot is pretty superficial but drives them to kiss and make up.

I think this was more enjoyable for having read the first one, but it definitely stands on its own for someone looking for a quick steamy read. 3 stars.

Why I waited so long to read this novella, I don't know. But it was the right dose of a sexy. Short, sweet and to the point.

Ian and Stacey are introduced in Lover Undercover where we get a glimpse of how their relationships starts. In Wicked Games, we get the grovel aspect of their relationship. They're great together. The sex and chemistry is off the charts hot. But when Stacey's past clashes with her present and clouds her future, her feelings for Ian take a back seat.

I read some reviews where it was stated the story felt rushed. I disagree. It was well developed and easily understood if you follow the series. Ms. Beck dished out just the right dose of sexy and story. I loved it and highly recommend this book and anything Ms. Beck writes.
