I found this really interesting as many people have controversial opinions on Ekin. I relate to her in more ways than I thought I did, and really enjoyed learning about her as a person. I think many people’s opinions about her would have changed after reading this!!
This was an impulse purchase on Stephen’s Day that swayed me by price alone - £1.
This month I’ve read more fiction than normal and decided that as Love Island has returned to our screens and I had just finished Tommy Fury’s book, I’d continue with some more Love Island content.
Ekin-Su has had some iconic moments on the show from being accused of being a Liar and an Actress and as fake as the Louis Vuitton from China to her notorious crawling on the terrace. I’m not up to date on this years season, so I may be wrong, but what you can definitely see is the growth and the self work accomplished since she was last in the villa. In the book she lets us in on her childhood, the bullying, the toxic relationships, her decision to move back to Turkey to pursue acting and how she has strived to stay in the limelight since leaving the villa.
It’s a short read, half biographical and half self help which really fits in for the month of Jan. There’s unfortunately just too much self preservation. She admits she burnt herself out by signing up to too much but I’d rather she admitted that she did it because she didn’t know when the work would dry up. I didn’t see this book highly publicised like other Celebrity books, so I think unfortunately her publishers and marketing team didn’t believe in it either.

I hate to give a 3/5 as I love Ekin su but I feel the mixture of self help/memoir didn't work effectively. I would have loved to have seen the memoir aspects explored further as they felt rushed to fit in the self help sections.
It really wasn’t that good. The aspects of the book that were a memoir was fun to get to know Ekin better, however, they barely skimmed the surface and really gave you nothing. The self help was really like basic therapy speak of eat healthy, exercise, and love yourself.
Quick read about the life of one of my fav Love Island contestants! It tried to lean more self-help than necessary and was pretty high level info, but good overall
