Taken By The King of Dallas is book one of a new series by Bonnie Blanco. It was jammed packed with a load of twists, drama, and backstabbing, and a budding relationship. There was even moments of a deranged one-night stand gone wrong. I was not expecting for the story to turn out the way it did, but I absolutely enjoyed the rollercoaster ride. Remedy experienced an awful divorce but her ex-husband, a city councilman, could not grasp that things were over. I was ready to come through my phone and yell “Go be with your pregnant wife!!” He was one of those characters that grinds my teeth. But, Rich came in a shook things up for Remedy. When he first laid eyes on Remedy, he manifested that she was going to be his wife and I was like “okay boy!” Their romance happened so fast but Rich has an entanglement that he needs to address because when the truth comes out, it will not be good for him- but I digress. Beyond that above, I knew something crazy was going to happen but I did not expect for Parker to be a raging crazy person. Whew goodness, I needed this experience! Good read for me.

Started strong… ended up just ok
I’m so frustrated, because it started off really good. However, as I continued it was obvious the book needed editing. There was so much repeating. The author would explain everything, and then have the characters going into a conversation about something she already explained. So much could have been left out.
Then, there wasn’t a moment throughout the story where I felt like Rich was the king of anything. His character seemed soft. Certain parts read like a woman trying to write like a man. Like what man says “sista girl”.
Then, why was this story so predictable??? It makes zero sense that Rich wouldn’t tell Remedy that he was with another woman before her and had a slip up. Again, he comes off like a little boy oppose to the king of Dallas. For more predictability, the best friend is the enemy -even though there was nothing throughout the story to suggest she had the potential to be such a hater. The ex wants to go to extremes to get Remedy back. Again, predictable, and definitely a story we’ve all heard before.
Lastly, this should have been a standalone. There wasn’t enough substance to make it a series.

Repetitive
This had potential to be really good but the author cheated us with her word count. Three pages to describe a character's day is way too much. And then retelling the story from each character's pov was a headache as well. I wanted more story & less page filler

Ok story
I have mixed feelings about this book. The plot was ok however, the Ken part of the book was very repetitive and took away from the story. I do feel like some of the things Rich did with his business and relationship did not make sense throughout the book.I am not sure if I will read book 2.

Confused
Raheem is not the wisest kingpin. I’m not understanding why he would sit at that table with Parker and not tell Remedy the whole truth. Now when he finally comes clean after the lies and withholding information from Remedy she’s more than likely gonna leave him. Raheem’s dishonesty is especially annoying because he could have made it clear that Parker told him a different name, so he didn’t know that they knew each other. He might get her back but it’s gonna take a lot of time, groveling and proving himself worthy all over again.

Good story line but the drawing out the book is totally unnecessary to me them we have to wait forever to get the second part and by that time I've forgotten the first book that's why I gave 3 stars plus the read was short

This book is messy as hell. Kentrel cheated on Remedy with his secretary, divorced her, turned around and married his secretary four months after him and Remedy divorce but now he's trying to crawl back, begging, and pleading. After the heartbreak Remedy suffered from Kentrel. She made it very clear that she didn't want anything to do with his trifling ass and for him to stop popping up to her house but Kentrel wasn't listening. I knew the moment Chantel stepped to Rich on some hoe s**t. That it was really Remedy best friend Parker. Parker/Chantel claimed she only wanted a one night stand but went back for second's. After Raheem told her he didn't want her like that. Parker/Chantel started acting crazy. I have a feeling Parker saw him trying to talk to Remedy in the club and purposely went after him. For some reason. Parker gave me shady vibes from the beginning and she definitely lived up to being Shady and crazy. After running into Raheem for the second time. Remedy took him up on the offer for a date. Living her best life being treated right and loved on properly. Remedy is glad she gave Raheem a chance. Crazy thing is the man that Parker told Remedy and their other two friends about is actually Raheem who's goes by the name Rich. Parker never told the girls his name. Remedy never told her girl's her new man name either. Raheem also don't have a clue that the woman he knows as Chantel is Remedy supposedly best friend Parker. Raheem is tired of Chantel calling him after he have told her numerous of time's that he have a woman and he wasn't interested in her. Chantel don't seem to get the picture. When she told him she was willing to be his side chick. I was disturbed and disgusted. Especially after she had already told the story about how her mother went crazy. I knew Parker was shady asf when she was complaining, whining, and crying to Remedy about a man she only screwed twice and as a friend. Remedy gave Parker some advice that had her snapping at Remedy and hitting below the belt. Remedy should've left Parker where she had her f**ked up at because if you say some shady and hurtful s**t while mad. You'll do it again. Remedy also should've never try to hook up Raheem brother Ace with Parker because I know once everybody meet. S**t was going to get real. I applaud Raheem for taking Tre up under his wing. However I don't see Tre mother Norma leaving Jack alone even after Raheem whooped his ass for beating on Tre and Norma. I strongly believed that Norma was going to allow Jack back in and he really end up hurting her and Tre badly. Kentrel going to Raheem threatening him to leave Remedy alone was funny and wasn't wise. Kentrel is a City Councilman with no type of gangsta in him. Raheem is from the street's and didn't take the threat lightly. What he had done to Kentrel may have had him back off for a little while but Kentrel is obsessed with getting Remedy back. I love Raheem for Remedy. She deserves that happiness but he messed up after to meet Chantel. It only activated her crazy and he found that out when he once again told her he didn't want her and Chantel tore up his car. Remedy thought that double date with her Raheem, his brother Ace, and Parker went well. Remedy have no clue the hate Parker have in her eyes and festering in her heart learning Raheem the man Parker want is Remedy man. Remedy and Ace is clueless of the tension at their dinner table. Raheem was shocked as hell and very uncomfortable on that date. That was his opportunity to tell Remedy the truth and to tell his brother to leave the crazy b***h alone. Ace is smitten with Parker and I hate that for him because he's about to become a pawn in her twisted game. I was shocked when Parker was thinking about this was Remedy second time taking a man from her. I wonder if it's true about Parker and Kentrel or is she being delusional. I know she delusional asf claiming Remedy knew Raheem is her man because Raheem isn't Parker man and Remedy don't know s**t about them. Raheem rushing to check on Tre and Norma after receiving a phone call from Tre had him panicking at the same time he received a phone call from dumb and dumber. Kentrel and Parker have kidnapped and beat Ace. Trying to get to Ace. Raheem wasn't paying attention and found himself with a gun stuck to the back of his head with Jack on the other end of it.

Whew! My very first read by this authoress and I loved it! Parker really is a delusional heaux! How in the world, the one who ghosted men for a living all of a sudden catch feelings after 2 fuqs and a suck smh?! She never told Remedy or none of the friends his name and as far as Remedy knew her man was Raheem. The one thing I had hoped was that Rich had been honest when he met up with Parker. He should have been able to stand on business by holding firm when he said he had a girl. Though the dots wouldn't have been connected, she would have at least not been blindsided when all this comes crashing down! All the decisions to keep letting people live after being threatened is surely coming back to hunt him! Shoots, even his good friend had to see his maker for way less! I pray he makes it out of this situation because Ace didn't deserve to be caught in the middle of this mess! Parker and Kentrel really doing the most! They should really be together and she could be the devoted side chick! I can't wait for part 2 because babyyyyyy I feel like the beast in Remedy is going to come out! I hope she and Raheem could get through this because I love them together!

When I say this was a great book it was. I could not put it down. That damn Parker and Ken are a bunch of delusional people. The fact that Ken thought the grass was greener and got the shock of his life and thought he was going to get that old thing back with Remedy is crazy as heck. Parker is another bat sh*t crazy person to think that Remedy would purposely want or take any man that is supposed to be hers is delusional on her part. How would Remedy know that any of these men messed with her if she didn’t tell her and the fact that she never told her friends Rich name or showed them a picture she played her damn self. She messed it up for herself when she cancelled and ran away but he actually didn’t even want her really he saw Remedy first and that’s really who he wanted. I feel so. Bad for Ace because he did not deserve that. I will say Rich is only wrong for keeping that secret about get brain from that girl but he never knew they were friends but he should have confessed right after the date to both Remedy and his brother. Can’t wait for part 2.

When they say keep your enemies close but your friends closer was the truth. I knew Parker was no friend when she spasmed out on Remedy after she was just trying to give her support, but to find out that she was always secretly jealous of her was crazy. Remedy ex-husband was lower than dirt first he cheats with the help, divorces Remedy then turned around four months later and marry the help is just crazy because after 2 years he has decided that he's had his fun and wanted to come back home too bad for him that someone bigger and better has taken that spot and showing Remedy everything she's been missing as well as fulfilling her dreams and goals.
Rich being the King put a lot on his shoulders but he carried it well, until he discover there was a traitor amongst them which hurt him to the core, not only that but the stalker female he was trying to avoid started dating g his baby brother; not only that but a young teenager that he has been mentoring has come up missing causing him to be off his game and getting caught up. Absolutely a 🔥 first book can't wait for part two.

I love Remedy and I am definitely rooting for her happiness but first she had got to get rid of the two most delusional people in her life. Her ex husband Kentrell is a narcissistic fool to think that after the way he humiliated her that she would take him back after he realizes the grass isn’t greener on the other side. Then there is Parker her so called best friend that she views as a sister who is low key jealous of her because she is infatuated with the men in her life.
Rich is bae and I definitely love him and Remedy together but he is holding on to a secret that is going to cause Remedy to walk away once it’s revealed and I really hate that but hopefully they can get past it and get their happy ending. That ending was crazy but I hope Rich is able to get to Ace when it’s all said and done.

I'm really upset at Raheem AKA Rich right now.
He should've never covered up his connection to Parker Chantel once again. Why didn't he pull his brother to the side and warn him? Why didn't he come clean? Why? Because his ass was selfish... too selfish thinking about himself and leaving all these loose ends now his brother is in danger and he was caught slipping smdh. Parker is a delusion biiiitch and a horrible friend. Talking about middle school love? I don't think Remedy knows what she is talking though or might have forgotten, or Parker played the situation down but in her feelings the whole time over Kentrell, which was why she threw that cheap shot.

Queen, let me tell you something, you did that…
First and foremost I completely for Raheem and Remedy!! Now you do need to come clean but that raggedy ex husband and bitter best friend going to make him come clean for sure. Remedy doesn’t deserve non of this. Parker just bitter and not thinking clearly. Each one of them met a different person in my opinion but the better lady got the best version.
As for the ex husband, that grass wasn’t as green as he thought on the other side. He actually got TURF that looked like grass. But like they say “ never know what you had until it’s GONE!”
Now as for as Ace goes he just an innocent as they come and got pulled in to the drama.
Definitely can’t wait for Part 2! Needed this like NOW!

Whew that was a doozy lets start with Parker if you was in love with kentrel why did you let remedy know that before you sat back and watched her marry him makes me wonder if you was a sneaky link with him it be the ones closest to you and we know that remedy didn’t know you was hooking up with Raheem one being you only knew his street name and you told him your middle name but wait I think Parker saw Raheem trying to get with remedy at the club and that’s how she happened to almost fall getting close to Raheem ok let me stop and wait to see what happens next great job again thanks

wow what a book
Bonnie what in the hell is going on you got me with the name of the book. I’m confused but excited about this book and where it goes. The cliffhanger got me in a chokehold. I need Rich to figure out a way to save himself and his brother. I honestly think he should have told his brother at dinner. He knew she was crazy and what she did to his car. If anything he should have told his friends so they could have grabbed her up after dinner. Omg I need part two asap

Ready for Part Two!!!
Bonnie had me on the edge of my seat with this one. Parker really makes my azz itch. It's always your so-called best friend that be low key jealous. Ken wanted the glitter only to find out it ain't gold. I feel so bad for Remedy and Ace cause they are innocent in this foolishness. I like Raheem but I really wish he would have told Remedy when he found out who Parker was. Now because of two envious bitter ba$tards he could possibly loose Remedy,his brother and his life. Imma need part two ASAP. 💜💜

Good read
The beginning was not so good with what went on in Remedy then the same thing being repeated in Raheems chapters. But as I continued to read it got better. I fault Raheem for this situation with Parker he could have told Remedy about her and what was going on because he didn't know that was her friend and he didn't know her real name. Taken Is The Correct Word!
So, Raheem sees Remedy in da club... Wow! He's smitten and slides up on her. Remedy, not quite out of man-hating mode courtesy of her slime ball ex, Kentrell, immediately shoots a brutha down! Backed up, Raheem inadvertently gets with the next h, er girl, who happens to be the best friend of our sharp shooter, Remedy. Things are about to get messy... but no one sees this yet. When it all finally hits the fan, we are all left hanging on a cliff! Hurry, please, Bonnie Blanco!

Bonnie, Oh my listen you really showing what happens when you second guess your inner self. I just don't know how this is gonna work out. Thinking you have a true friend only to find out it's not has to hurt, delusional folk think it's ok to respond to their feelings that is only in their minds.

whew .... great book
I could not put this down til the very last page. I was hooked from the first page. It had all the makings of what i call a good read. A handsome rich thug, a bbw thats cute and smart, a few crazies and drama. I was really not expecting Parker to be coo coo for coco puffs the way she is and the way her mind switched things up blaming remedy for all her troubles. Smh lets see what happens.

I’m on the edge of seat! I really think Parker needs help because if you really felt like that then she could have remedy about her and Ken! And how was remedy supposed to know that rich and Raheem were the same people ! She’s delulu and needs help! & ken really needs help because the grass ain’t greener on the other side and now you mad she moved on! How about you and Parker just get together !

Part 2 me now!!!
This is my first time reading this author and I'm tuned in. This book is so good and I can't wait to find out what's next for Parker, Remedy, Raheem, and Ace. I did not expect the many different scenarios but it all works so well together. Remedy is moving on from her wreckage of a relationship with her ex husband. Raheem is intrigued by a woman he met in the club. Parker is losing it and Ace is just in the wring place at the wrong time. Such a good read.

it definitely had potential. the beginning started off great and then it started getting repetitive to the point that i skipped over the book to get to the end. some parts didnt make sense like its 2024 we have to get better at editing books.
Also the title was a bit misleading, when i think of “taken” i think of being kidnapped or physically taken. im not sure on what the actual motive if naming this book, but it seems like good thought was not put into it

Good Read
This book was good. Allot of unnecessary chatter and reliving scenes but a good read. One suggestion tho cause I was tired of reading “this man” I read that so many times I started replacing it with other words. I’ll be around for part two cause it just got real. Don’t take too long

GREAT BOOK!!!
This was my first read by this author but it definitely won’t be my last. This book was so good. I hated to see it end. That ending got my mouth wide open. Parker pissed me off the whole book. I’m loving me some Raheem and Remedy. This is most definitely a must read. I can’t wait to read part 2..

A lot going on in this book and it's wild and crazy. I don't want to give to much away because it'll take away from the ohhhhh and awwws but if your a reader you'll already see what's direction its going in. Now I didn't see the last part coming with Ace but dang two delusional people.

Crazy and Deranged
Parker and Ken are two crazy, deranged, and delusional individuals. Like you that hurt cause Rick/Raheem doesn’t want you after you stated you weren’t looking for a relationship. This girl is looney toon. I hope Raheem is able to save his brother from these snakes. On to part 2.
